Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 256: Chapter 244: Unleashing One’s True Nature

”Serve a pot of tea,” Qian said calmly.

”Stop making trouble for no reason. Leave if you’re not going to order anything!” The shift leader felt Qian was intentionally making things difficult.

”Which eye of yours saw that we aren’t ordering? Here, get us a plate of shredded potatoes.”

Shredded potatoes were the cheapest dish in the restaurant.

”Just you wait!” The shift leader stormed off angrily.

At this time, though it wasn’t mealtime yet, there were a few tables occupied. The waitstaff wasn’t too busy and were all watching.

The act of firing new staff was almost routine, happening every few days. Those who were tricked into being laborers for three days were either angry or regretful, but none had reacted like Qian. Everyone was curious about what exactly Qian intended to do.

Qian took out her phone and handed it to Teng Shuixian.

”What is it? Qian, how can you still stand being here?” Teng Shuixian, who had been tricked, hated this place and wished she could leave immediately.

”This is a lesson I want to teach you, an eternally valid truth: whenever someone angers you, fight back. Stewing in your anger only harms yourself. Over these three days, have you figured out who you are, what you want to do, and what your relationship is with your father?”

”I...” Teng Shuixian thought about the past few days when she returned to the hotel after work, and her father was always there.

Staying up late, waiting for her to come back.

The father and daughter would chat a bit, drink a bowl of porridge, and her father would even discuss work matters with her. Even if it was just serving plates, he wanted her to experience it seriously.

For the offspring of wealthy families, such experiences were truly rare.

”I’ve realized, I understand my father’s hardships, and I should quickly do what I ought to do.”

”Then what are you waiting for? You no longer reject being the heiress of the Teng Family; you’re the daughter of a wealthy family. So why not do what a wealthy daughter should do now?”

”What should I do?”

”Make a call, gather people, and return the favor to those who bullied you.”

After a while, the old waiter who falsely accused Shuixian brought over a plate of shredded potatoes and slammed it on the table.

With disdain, she spoke to Shuixian and Qian.

”Have you two caused enough trouble yet?”

In her eyes, Qian and Teng Shuixian were merely making trouble for no reason.

Qian didn’t eat, but instead, she tapped her fingers on the table authoritatively.

”How old are you?”

”20, so what!” the old waiter replied.

”20 is not young in the service industry, but in a lifetime, it’s still very young. I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll give you free advice: no matter where you are, don’t easily despise or bully those you don’t know well. Because you might unknowingly step on a landmine. The world is big yet small. If you lack ability, try to remain humble towards everyone.”

After Qian finished speaking, she glanced at Teng Shuixian, whose call was already over.

”I don’t understand what you’re saying... Eat up and leave quickly. We’ve never served such stingy customers who only order one plate of shredded potatoes,” the old waiter said sarcastically.

”Now you see,” Qian glanced at her.

Suddenly, the old waiter felt a wave of unease and began to understand why the shift leader refused to come out.

It was to avoid this bespectacled girl.

Restaurant work was extremely busy, leaving no space for personal exchanges, so the staff knew nothing about these two newcomers.

Even after working together for three days, no one had taken a good look at Qian and Shuixian. Now, sitting here without aprons, their demeanor left the old waiter and shift leader feeling inexplicably alarmed.

Especially Qian, though her tone wasn’t aggressive; in fact, it was relatively gentle. Yet one look from her could make you feel unable to move, her presence more commanding than the most distinguished customer in the restaurant.

Once Qian stopped deliberately concealing her aura, the natural confidence she suppressed for the past three days began to emerge.

”I have great respect for frontline service workers. There are no humble jobs but there are people who aren’t good. You clearly fall into the group I classify as lacking quality and undeserving of sympathy,” Qian said with indifference to the waiter and then, turning to Shuixian, added.

”Do you understand now how to balance people’s relationships?”

”I understand... Character and morals are related to one’s nature but not to wealth.” Shuixian, having stayed here for three days, truly grasped what Qian meant about the world looking different in parts she couldn’t see.

She previously thought the poor were pitiable and kind, but not all of them were. Even those working in restaurants exploiting people below them.

Wealth has nothing to do with kindness; many are poor but remain good-hearted.

”Your comprehension is excellent... Hmm, your father really ought to thank me properly. I just gave you a cure for anorexia, but it also ended up being a valuable lesson in personnel management, what a pleasant surprise—and of course, thanks to those fools who bullied you.”

Life has a way of surprising you, don’t you think?

She hadn’t arranged for actors, yet the restaurant staff’s foolishness played out so conveniently, greatly aiding Shuixian’s recovery.

Qian and Shuixian’s conversation was too profound for the waiter, who stood there, baffled, though she did comprehend the last part.

”Who are you calling a fool?”

”Why are you so eager to claim that title?” Qian grinned.

”How dare you, are you intent on causing trouble? Let me tell you, I’m the distant cousin on the third wife’s side of the boss’s family!” the old waiter stood with arms crossed.

Qian adjusted her glasses, ”For a distant cousin from the third wife’s family, yet still having you serve tables, your boss is quite unscrupulous, no wonder they deceive workers in such shameful ways.”

”Someone, get them thrown out now!” the old waiter shouted.

As if on cue, a group of people entered from outside.

The previously sharp voice suddenly turned polite.

”Welcome!”

This group, easily over ten people, each burly and intimidating. The two at the front even wore sunglasses, making them appear unapproachable; they were Teng Shuixian’s bodyguards.

They walked straight to Shuixian’s table, respectfully speaking.

”Miss, what are your orders?”

Shuixian looked at Qian, who nodded.

”This restaurant claimed they’d never seen a customer who ordered just one plate of shredded potatoes. I wish to help them experience what the world is like beyond their reach,” Shuixian said, mimicking Qian’s tone.

The bodyguards squinted, what did that mean?

”Seal the doors, don’t let anyone in until we finish dining,” Qian translated.

With a wave from the bodyguard, a dozen men instantly blocked the restaurant entrance, the remaining customers, sensing trouble, hurried out, leaving the place empty and cold.

A plate of shredded potatoes, whether eaten in ten minutes or all night, it was up to them.

”The longer you live, the more you see, which is why older and wiser people are humbler. Of course, a fool remains a fool even with age,” Qian said coolly to the waiter.
