Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1096: Chapter 1094: Underground Space

With the authorization from Gu Xi, Dominic quickly sprang into action.

He immediately headed toward the castle in Demon City, preparing to recruit soldiers and organize the troops.

The troops in Demon City were now considered Dominic’s subordinates.

How many soldiers he could lead in the future depended on his efforts this time.

After Dominic left, Gu Xi didn’t rush to leave the Assembly Hall; he first examined the map of the Assembly Hall.

He discovered there are only mistaken names, no incorrect nicknames.

The reason the underground city is called the Underground City rather than Dragon City is justified.

The current fifty-square-kilometer area hasn’t fully encompassed the entire Demon City; beneath Demon City, there’s still a vast space.

The underground space here isn’t like the one in Yalidu City, which was cleared after sewage cleanup into small spaces, with each segment having only one or two large plots or something.

The underground space here in Demon City is genuinely large.

It feels like adding an extra layer directly onto the previous foundation.

The city on the ground covers fifty square kilometers, while the underground space is about forty square kilometers in size.

Many strange and twisted buildings that aren’t fond of sunlight are constructed underground.

Gu Xi also noticed that the main grain production areas of Demon City were placed in the underground space.

Underground farms, mushroom farms, and so forth are all gathered together, providing food supplies for the entire Demon City.

Seeing these buildings, Gu Xi realized he had been somewhat careless.

Demon City isn’t Yalidu City; it’s not the Undead City he was familiar with.

The Undead have simple requirements for food—just enhancing their combat power; if there’s no food, they don’t care.

It means the farmland and farms among the Undead aren’t the most important city functions.

But it doesn’t work for the residents of the underground city.

From Harpies starting all the way to Black Dragons.

Which among them isn’t a big meat eater?

Even Minotaurs, who appear like grass eaters, are meat eaters.

Without meat, where would they find such thick muscles?

Relying solely on grass above ground?

That’s really an overestimation.

Only Cave Dwellers have relatively diverse eating habits, without too many food requirements.

But the problem is, how much combat power do Cave Dwellers have?

The combat power of Cave Dwellers is even weaker than Skeleton Soldiers of the same level.

Their main role in the underground city is as manual labor and farmers in the farms.

Finally, they serve as cannon fodder.

Neither Gu Xi nor Dominic would consider them as the main force.

So they don’t know how much food the underground farms in Demon City can provide daily.

Whether it’s enough for the residents and soldiers in the city.

Not to mention that the food consumption during battles and normal times is surely different.

Without this discovery, Gu Xi would perhaps let Dominic recruit freely.

Now with this insight, Gu Xi couldn’t ignore it; he quickly checked the map to find the route to enter the underground space.

He wanted to go down and see how much food Demon City had, to see if it could support a wave of battle.

If not, then the upcoming battle would have to make the Dragons eat some other meat.

Closing the door of the Assembly Hall, Gu Xi released the Holy Silver Evil Coffin, heading toward the location near the western city wall.

The passage to enter the underground space was located here.

Meanwhile, since the passage to the underground space was here, the sewage treatment entrance was moved elsewhere, to avoid conflict between the underground space and the sewer.

Moving down the city wall’s foundation approximately four to five hundred meters, Gu Xi entered the underground space of Demon City.

Actually, upon entering the passage, Gu Xi noticed a difference in style between the underground space and the ground.

Although the ground Demon City wasn’t as orderly as Human Cities, most buildings were constructed with yellow bricks, even the Minotaur Maze, the highest Green Dragon Tower on the ground, the Magic Tower combined from five tall towers, the Hall of Silence for Medusa training, and Statue Garden were all in this style.

Even the structures on small plots and supporting buildings were unified in this yellow brick style.

But things changed once entering underground.

Just in the passage to the underground space, Gu Xi saw the yellow bricks on the ground were gone, replaced by hardened earth paths made solid by trampling.

The underground passage was flanked by excavated caves, sometimes emitting flashes of fire.

Sometimes, gray or white-feathered Harpies could be seen flying out of these caves, clutching daggers.

Upon seeing Gu Xi, these Harpies would retreat immediately.

These were fairly good, but Gu Xi also noticed a large number of hanging stalactites on the ceiling of the underground passage, at the edges of which he found some slime and fresh slices.

It seems these stalactites are Hydra’s passageways.

This made Gu Xi increasingly curious about the situation of Demon City.

One can’t help but wonder who the original owner of this underground city was.

Was everything here naturally formed or processed?

If it was processed, one must admit the original owner of the underground city possessed extraordinary skills in city construction.

With Gu Xi entering the underground space, more and more unusual circumstances captured his attention.

Gu Xi noted Demon City’s underground space was fully developed.

Among other things, the walls of the underground space were divided into upper, middle, and lower layers.

The lower layer consists of caves used as residential spaces, and the middle layer is a deeply dug large cave filled with golden vessels.

Without needing to approach, just looking at the mountains of gold there, one can discern it’s the Dragon Cave and Dragon Nest, serving as training camps and residences for Black Dragons and Red Dragons.

Further up are smaller caves occupied entirely by Harpies.

Only, Gu Xi was somewhat unsure whether it’s a Bird’s Nest or Bird Pavilion.

Looking up, one can find a straight-up passage at the top of the underground space.

This should be where the Flying Team, including Black Dragons and Red Dragons, exits the underground space.

Gu Xi even speculates that the top of this straight-up passage might be the castle at Demon City’s center.

Directly beneath the passage is a giant maze, surrounded nearby by small swamps and ponds, further out are columns formed of green slime and black underground forests.

Gu Xi also noted there seemed to be some caves not easily discovered beneath the passage; looking down, one could see piles of white bone outside these caves.
