Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1084: Chapter 1082: Beneath the Illusionary Village

”White Bone Obelisk, temporarily acting as a Soul Summoning Tower, Soul Summoning Skill, rise for me!”

As Gu Xi led the troops deeper into the perilous zone, the number of enemies he faced gradually increased.

Along the way, Gu Xi discovered some villages or camps made up of Deceitful Shadows.

But unlike normal villages or camps.

The villages and camps of the Deceitful Shadows before him were themselves bizarre or transformed into deceitful shadows.

From afar, these villages and camps looked like gathering places formed by the fusion of black human figures.

But upon closer inspection, one would occasionally notice eyes and arms appearing on the walls and various buildings of the villages and camps.

It was evident that those Deceitful Shadows were forcibly transformed into buildings.

It wasn’t clear if their transformation was voluntary or forced upon them by other Deceitful Shadows due to failure.

To ensure the safety of the route from New City to Yalidov City, Gu Xi naturally had to clear out these villages and camps.

In doing so, the number of troops Gu Xi brought seemed insufficient.

After all, Gu Xi couldn’t possibly let his powerful troops at level ten or above serve as cannon fodder.

Thus, after conquering one of the villages, Gu Xi had no choice but to deploy the White Bone Obelisk, acting temporarily as a Soul Summoning Tower, to start summoning and replenish the cannon fodder.

However, there was one issue: when Deceitful Shadows die in battle, rarely do corpses remain; most turn into Deceitful Energy Pearls.

Only a few strengthen anomalous elements, leaving anything behind.

And White Bone Obelisk’s summoning is targeted, only strengthening the bone-formed troops.

If there’s no bone, this summoning will likely only convert ghosts, and the final undead corps might not benefit from the White Bone Obelisk’s blessing.

Gu Xi, who used the Soul Summoning Skill, was there sighing.

Suddenly, upon deploying the Soul Summoning Skill, an unusual sound seemed to come from underground beneath the village he had just captured.

Gu Xi was shocked and looked over, discovering a white bone arm extending from the ground.

”Huh?”

Gu Xi’s heart jumped in surprise; is there a large amount of bone buried underground?

As Gu Xi pondered over this matter, more and more arms emerged from the ground.

Next, a bunch of rather special skeletons crawled out from underground.

The bone frames of these skeletons were notably larger than normal human bones; all skeletons ranged in height from 1.9 to 2.1 meters, with bones much thicker than normal humans.

The arm bones were as thick as a normal person’s leg bone.

Once they crawled out from underground, they instantly grabbed the Deceitful Energy Pearls and mutated weapons on the ground and went outward, paying no heed to Gu Xi’s intentions.

This stunned Gu Xi.

Disobedient undead, this was a first for Gu Xi to encounter.

He hurried to check on these undead.

[Frenzied Beast Skeleton Soldier (Level 11, Summoned Creatures): Experience (0/5500), Attack 18, Defense 9, Life 66, Skills: Undead Creatures, Frenzied Attack (uncontrolled and unaffected by fear effects), Mad Attack (continuous two or even three strikes with no decrease in strike power), Enemy of the Living (attack power increases by 50%-125% when attacking all living creatures).]

Looking at the attributes of these Frenzied Beast Skeleton Soldiers, Gu Xi understood the reason for their disobedience.

However, Frenzied Attack, as a skill, doesn’t have much use for the undead.

Undead emphasize group activities.

A single undead’s combat power is somewhat weaker than that of soldiers of the same level.

Furthermore, undead are immune to most fear effects.

It’s just that no one ever mentioned this point.

After all, the joke that undead fear ghosts is better left unsaid.

As for Mad Attack, it merely enhances the three consecutive strikes slightly.

Enemy of the Living is simply a trait common among ghosts, habitually attacking life forms.

These Frenzied Beast Skeleton Soldiers seem high-leveled but are essentially just cannon fodder.

However, Gu Xi developed a bit of interest in the situation beneath the village.

Initially, when summoning, Gu Xi thought only ghosts would emerge.

Unexpectedly, upon deploying the Soul Summoning Skill, nearly eight hundred Frenzied Beast Skeleton Soldiers emerged.

The number of Deceitful Shadows just slain was roughly the same, right?

Gu Xi’s curiosity about the underground situation of the village grew.

”Yellow Springs Dragon Robe!”

Upon Gu Xi’s command, the Equipment Carrier of the Yellow Springs Dragon Robe appeared before him.

Gu Xi placed his hand on the back of the Equipment Carrier, using the sight of the Yellow Springs Dragon Robe to gaze at the previous village location.

During the battle, Gu Xi hadn’t even deployed the Yellow Springs Dragon Robe.

Conquering this village involved Bone Dragon and Black Dragon finding the place a few times, followed by Dragon Breath to suffice.

Gu Xi hadn’t considered deploying the Yellow Springs Dragon Robe to examine the feng shui or anything.

In Gu Xi’s mind, there’s nothing worth observing in feng shui.

Once Deceitful Shadows are defeated, they directly transform into Deceitful Energy Pearls.

There’s no place left to bury while considering feng shui.

However, now, with so many skeletons appearing underground, all with distinct personalities, transformed into Frenzied Beast Skeleton Soldiers at last.

This forced Gu Xi to consider whether there was an issue with this village’s location.

So, utilizing the Equipment Carrier of the Yellow Springs Dragon Robe, Gu Xi’s gaze on the original village site shifted.

At that moment, Gu Xi instantly realized that the village was on a node of the earth vein.

The aura spread by the node led the Deceitful Shadows to settle here.

If it was merely that, Gu Xi felt something was slightly amiss.

Normally, a village should either gather qi to reside by the water or along a path, such as settling on a living road.

Or it should have some important significance, such as a fortress being located between two mountains.

The current village built on the earth vein is quite reasonable.

However, Gu Xi wasn’t searching for that; he aimed to examine why bodies were buried underground.

”Let’s go take a look!”

Under Gu Xi’s command, he personally went to the location of the former Illusionary Villages.

”Dig!”

What Dominic had intended to do earlier, Gu Xi personally executed.

The Undead Combat Squad with immense combat power had now turned into undead laborers, digging at the location of the former Illusionary Village.

Fortunately, earlier, the numerous Frenzied Beast Skeleton Soldiers emerging from underground made the ground easier to excavate.

Otherwise, Gu Xi’s undead, lacking any tools, would have expended considerable effort to dig up the ground.

Once the undead excavated the ground, Gu Xi jumped down for a look.

Soon, a hint of puzzlement flickered in Gu Xi’s eyes.

No man-made traces.

Just bones left by Deceitful Shadows with nowhere to dispose of, buried underground.

Yet Gu Xi felt it was quite unreasonable.

It seemed something was erased by someone within this place.
