Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Zhang Yi knew of only one Epsilon-level superhuman in the Southwest Region: that was the Lord of the Charnel Ground, who was said to have received divine blessings and was regarded by the esoteric sect as a reincarnated Buddha.

Staring at him from a distance, Zhang Yi muttered to himself, ”I didn’t expect to run into this troublesome character so soon!”

That young ascetic monk looked to be only in his early twenties. His face still carried a hint of youthful innocence, his eyes clear and pure, like a child who had yet to experience the world.

Yet, his actions carried a formidable oppressive force, instantly suppressing the long-haired woman.

With just one contact, the long-haired woman was defeated. This caused the white-clad people who came with her to immediately change their expressions.

However, not a single one of them showed fear. Instead, they roared and unleashed their abilities, charging towards the Lord of the Charnel Ground.

The Lord of the Charnel Ground didn’t even glance at them. His broad right hand casually swept out, a golden light erupting from his body that directly swept everyone away.

A powerful shockwave spread across the snowy ground, clearing out a circular area spanning a thousand meters.

With just one strike, all those attackers were left lying on the ground, unable to get up.

But those people were only knocked unconscious, not killed.

”Oh? It seems he is a compassionate monk. But then, who are those people?”

Zhang Yi watched this spectacle with leisurely composure.

He didn’t yet understand the situation on the Snowy Plateau, having only gleaned a few bits of information from Pagyi Gesang’s mouth.

But no matter how he thought about it, daring to attack an Epsilon-level superhuman was an extremely foolish act.

Yet, judging from the long-haired woman’s expression, it was clear they also hadn’t expected the person they were ambushing to be the Southwest Region’s strongest.

Watching a group of people get suppressed by the Lord of the Charnel Ground with a mere wave of his hand, Zhang Yi silently estimated the Lord of the Charnel Ground’s strength.

But the result was still difficult to gauge, because dealing with opponents below the Epsilon level truly didn’t require much effort.

Unless it was a non-combat-type Epsilon.

It was only then that the Lord of the Charnel Ground raised his head to look into the distance. From far away, he gave Zhang Yi and the others a somewhat simple, innocent smile.

That smile was truly pure, without any impurities.

Even Fatty Xu couldn’t help but say, ”Looks genuine at first glance, as genuine as me!”

Fatty Xu’s codename at the moment was D, so one could also say he was as genuine as D.

Zhang Yi said lightly, ”What’s so great about that? My smiles aren’t necessarily impure either.”

Then he sighed helplessly, ”Probably from reading too many books, my pure heart got polluted.”

The Lord of the Charnel Ground pressed his palms together towards everyone, then slowly bowed in greeting. It seemed he didn’t intend to give them any trouble.

Zhang Yi recalled what Pagyi Gesang had said: after the Lord of the Charnel Ground was recognized as the reincarnated spiritual child, he was adopted into Sangha Monastery, where he spent over ten years like a single day in Buddhist devotion.

Therefore, his heart was pure, without any devious thoughts.

For Pagyi Gesang, his opponent, to give such an evaluation, it was probably eighty percent true.

Zhang Yi then said, ”The show’s over, let’s go. Staying here any longer will make others suspicious.”

With that, he started the vehicle and continued onward towards the Snowy Plateau.

The Lord of the Charnel Ground watched Zhang Yi’s vehicle depart. He didn’t pay it much mind, merely looking down with compassion at the ambushers lying prostrate at his feet.

”Why must you suffer like this? May Buddha forgive your sins. Come back with me to atone before Buddha and the innocent people you have harmed!”

The Lord of the Charnel Ground’s face was filled with sorrow and compassion.

And those white-clad people who had been knocked unconscious were now unable to respond to him.

Suddenly, the Lord of the Charnel Ground’s foot was grabbed tightly.

It was the white-clad woman who led the team. She was extremely weak. Having withstood an Epsilon-level strike, her internal organs were nearly shattered.

Fortunately, the Lord of the Charnel Ground was merciful and didn’t kill her.

Otherwise, just now, no one here would have survived.

The woman struggled to lift her head, looking up at the Lord of the Charnel Ground’s face. Her eyes held an inexpressible hatred and struggle.

”You... were ambushing us!”

The Lord of the Charnel Ground sighed softly, ”What you are doing is wrong.”

The woman suddenly grinned, a mouthful of blood spilling from the corner of her lips.

”Heh, heheh! You still can’t do anything to us, right? Even you had to personally take action. Hahaha!”

She laughed heartily.

The Lord of the Charnel Ground slightly furrowed his brows, seemingly feeling the person before him was already somewhat beyond redemption.

Zhang Yi’s vehicle had long since sped away.

He didn’t care about these matters. Although he had encountered the Southwest Region’s number one expert, now was absolutely not the time to clash with him.

He had to wait until after the Prayer Festival, to understand whether the underground Demon Kingdom treasure truly existed, before deciding how to proceed.

”Who are those people? How dare they? They actually attacked an Epsilon-level powerhouse!”

Fatty Xu said with an exaggerated expression.

Zhang Yi thought for a moment, carefully considering the major powers of the Southwest Region.

He slowly said, ”If based on Pagyi Gesang’s account, those people must be the Southwest Region’s resistance army.”

The resistance army was a chaotic force.

They didn’t belong to any of the four great families’ factions, but were a bandit group that rose from the chaos.

According to Pagyi Gesang, they were the Southwest Region’s biggest destabilizing factor, often attacking the territories of the four great families, plundering supplies and people.

”They probably didn’t expect to kick an iron plate this time.”

Zhang Yi said indifferently.

Liang Yue spoke up, ”I understand now, no wonder we encountered the Lord of the Charnel Ground here. He deliberately appeared in such an obvious area to fish, to lure out the resistance army members.”

At this point, she gave a faint smile, ”Didn’t expect him to be quite clever.”

”Clever?”

Zhang Yi rolled his eyes upward, ”Maybe he has a little cleverness, but I don’t think it’s anything remarkable.”

”Huh? Why?”

Several people looked at Zhang Yi, puzzled.

This time, the personnel the other side sent out were quite capable.

Those white-clad people were all superhumans, and the leading woman’s strength was even more impressive, at least over 9600 points.

She was undoubtedly an important cadre within the resistance army.

Capturing her, wasn’t that a significant gain?

But Zhang Yi said, ”A person of noble status does not sit under a crumbling wall. What is the concept of the Lord of the Charnel Ground’s status and position in the Southwest Region? The integration of church and state, he is that ’one’.”

”Yet such a person actually needs to personally take action, setting traps to catch people. This can only mean that the current Southwest Region is struggling to even deal with the resistance army.”

Hearing this, thoughtful expressions immediately appeared on everyone’s faces.

Yang Xinxin’s voice sounded over the communication channel.

”This is a good thing. It indicates the internal strife within the Southwest Region is very severe, to the point they are even struggling to handle the rebel forces within the region.”

”And for us, the more chaotic it is here, the better. If they were truly a monolithic block, our opportunities to seize benefits would be fewer.”

Everyone felt Yang Xinxin was right.

And just at that moment, a massive blizzard suddenly erupted not far away.

A motorcade was driving from the distance towards this direction, apparently coming down from the direction of the plateau.

Zhang Yi looked over there. The people over there were also using equipment to observe this side.

However, Zhang Yi’s right hand had already begun lightly tapping on the steering wheel.

If those people showed any sign of wanting to attack.

In just 0.01 seconds, Zhang Yi would make them completely vanish from the snowy plains.

Fortunately, the people in that motorcade seemed to be in a hurry, passing straight by not far from Zhang Yi and his group.

But as they passed, they deliberately came a bit closer, their engines roaring violently, as if giving some kind of warning.

Zhang Yi gave a faint smile, ”These people are probably the backup ambushers.”

The Lord of the Charnel Ground captured those people but didn’t kill them, so naturally he needed subordinates to go help handle them.

These people rushing over, openly and aboveboard, could only be the Lord of the Charnel Ground’s men.

After the vehicles passed, inside a few of those cars, several burly men with stern faces glanced at the rearview mirror.

A bald man said, ”That vehicle is a bit suspicious. It doesn’t have any family insignia. It could be a rebel vehicle!”

The man in the passenger seat coldly glanced at him, ”Are you crazy? Didn’t you see where they came from?”

The people in the car immediately remembered they came from the area where the Lord of the Charnel Ground was.

The bald man then scratched his head, laughing awkwardly, ”That’s true. If they were really rebels, how could they escape from under the Lord of the Charnel Ground’s very eyes!”

In the passenger seat sat their leader, Dumba.

Dumba spoke in a deep voice, ”However, if they are not rebels, they are probably people invited by the other families.”

Scornful laughter immediately came from the car.

”Hehehe, the Prayer Festival is approaching, they’re getting restless too. I’ve seen several batches of outsiders recently.”

”This kind of pointless move really fits their usual style. A deathbed struggle, that’s all!”

In the back seat, a man wearing traditional attire and holding a submachine gun proudly puffed out his chest.

”The Lord of the Charnel Ground hails from our Yasha Langtai family! With him here, anyone who comes here is just wasting their time.”

In Dumba’s ear, the sound of communication came through.

He answered. It was a voice from the other vehicles.

”What about those guys? Should we go deal with them?”

”Are you insane? The Lord of the Charnel Ground captured many resistance army members over there, including a cadre. Handling the Lord of the Charnel Ground’s matter takes priority!”

”What about the people in that vehicle just now...”

”Just tell Loren. Let him handle it.”

The people in the car didn’t pay much attention to Zhang Yi and the others, brushing past them and speeding away towards the lower plateau.

On the other side, at the entrance to the Snowy Plateau, a patrolling elite team’s captain, Loren, leaned against a snow vehicle smoking. His thin, dark face bore the plateau’s characteristic red flush.

He wasn’t tall, only about 1.7 meters, his build as lean as a starving wolf.

But his eyes were as sharp as a wolf’s, constantly observing all movements around him.
