Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Star Island, ever since the discovery of the Divine Source there, the news naturally couldn’t be kept secret from the various parties and had long been monitored by major forces around the world.

However, only the two major surrounding powers were truly qualified to compete for it.

The East Sea Region of the Huaxu Kingdom, and the Columbus Ocean Fleet.

As for Zhang Yi’s side, due to the Dragon King’s dying words, they had also been keeping a close watch on everything happening on Star Island.

So, on this particular morning, Yang Xinxin informed Zhang Yi about the changes observed on Star Island.

Zhang Yi felt a heavy weight in his heart and rubbed his temples forcefully.

”That’s terrible, this situation is really terrible.”

Even with his current superhuman ability index of 18,000 points, when facing the powerful beings within the secret realms, he felt as weak as a child.

If one day, that black-armored Gatekeeper of the Netherworld, or Bai Longzi, from whom he had opportunistically stolen the sacrificial spirit, were to come to the surface world, they would likely come to settle accounts with Zhang Yi.

A sense of crisis once again enveloped Zhang Yi’s heart, making him extremely uneasy.

Seeing Zhang Yi’s melancholy, Yang Xinxin said softly, ”Brother, are you going to go there?”

”Go? Let’s not.”

Zhang Yi shook his head.

That place, Star Island, was somewhere he absolutely would not go before possessing sufficiently powerful strength.

If he truly had been marked by the Gatekeeper of the Netherworld, going there again might lead to him being found directly.

”Let’s leave it to the East Sea Region and the Columbus Ocean Fleet to handle.”

Although Zhang Yi said this, he subconsciously clenched his fist behind his back.

Yang Xinxin blinked, thought for a moment, and then said to Zhang Yi:

”Brother, you once said that people are always filled with fear towards the unknown. Just like fearing the dark.”

”But when humans learned to use fire, they no longer feared the dark.”

”Shadows amplify the fears in people’s hearts. So, perhaps everything isn’t as dangerous as you imagine. Isn’t that right?”

Zhang Yi looked at Yang Xinxin and smiled, ”That logic is indeed correct.”

He took a deep breath and then exhaled it towards the window.

”That’s exactly why I’ve always wanted to figure out the truth about this world!”

Yang Xinxin said, ”Recently, I’ve been researching ancient historical records. Shengjing shared their library with us, and combined with the two volumes of the ’Epic of King Gesar’ we obtained from Pagyi Gesang, I now have some ideas.”

Zhang Yi felt a surge of excitement.

”Really? Tell me quickly. I want to see if we can find some clues from history.”

Zhang Yi took Yang Xinxin to the living room. In recent days, the others had been busy absorbing the origin of the strange beasts to enhance their strength.

So, Zhang Yi had been eating the food stored in his Dimensional Space.

He poured two cups of coffee, handing one directly to Yang Xinxin, and then the two sat on the sofa.

Zhang Yi looked at Yang Xinxin, waiting for the results of her recent research.

Yang Xinxin began by saying, ”Why humans appeared in this world has always been a great mystery.”

”If we follow the theory of evolution, species gradually evolve to adapt to their environment. Then, in the process from ape to human, there must have existed some intermediate forms.”

”But we have not discovered such intermediate life forms.”

”Even Darwin, who proposed the ’Theory of Evolution,’ said that humans do not conform to evolutionary theory. Instead, they grew at an explosive speed, crazily evolving and developing a sophisticated civilization.”

”So, many scientists believe that the emergence of humans must have been influenced by external forces.”

Zhang Yi said, ”That’s an interesting theory. Please continue.”

He didn’t interrupt further. This wasn’t his area of expertise, so naturally, he wouldn’t disturb Yang Xinxin.

Yang Xinxin said, ”Various human civilizations all possess myths. Ancient peoples revered deities. It was the deities who bestowed them with life, fire, grain, and taught them survival skills.”

”So,” Yang Xinxin stared directly at Zhang Yi, her gaze surging like a tide, ”could those underground civilizations be the deities from ancient times who guided the rise of our human race?”

The first thing that came to Zhang Yi’s mind was Bai Longzi from beneath the Qinling Mountains.

A human head with a snake body—that indeed matches the appearance of great deities from ancient mythological times.

Fuxi and Nüwa, these two human ancestors, both had such forms.

Furthermore, the Huaxia people have worshipped dragons since ancient times, and the image of the dragon is said to have evolved from the snake.

There is no totem worship without reason. Perhaps it was because the ancients regarded the Serpent-folk as deities that they depicted their image as a totem.

”This speculation is very interesting. But there are two points I don’t understand.”

Zhang Yi said, ”First, why would deities hide underground?”

”Second, the Snowy Plateau Region is suspected to have once been ruled by an underground civilization, but that civilization was called the Demon Kingdom civilization. They appeared in later times and treated the people of the Snowy Plateau as slaves and food.”

”That seems more like devils than deities who guided the rise of humanity.”

Yang Xinxin took a sip of coffee and slowly explained:

”For the first point, there are no records in historical materials either. But in myths and legends, there are concepts like immortal realms and heavenly palaces.”

”Ever since humans entered space and landed on the moon, the idea of heavenly palaces in the sky has been dismissed. The immortal realms are not in the sky.”

”Then, why couldn’t they be underground?”

Her eyes held a peculiar gleam.

”The planet’s surface is a paradise for us. The universe, the deep sea, and the underground are all hostile lands to us.”

”But those places might be paradises for the deity races.”

”If we compare this planet to a ping pong ball, we are only active on its surface. Yet, the interior of the sphere clearly has much vaster space and more abundant resources.”

”For example, wasn’t the elemental ore discovered underground?”

Zhang Yi listened and kept nodding. His educational level was average, but he thought what Yang Xinxin said made a lot of sense.

Yang Xinxin continued, ”As for the second point. Deities are merely a human imagination and title for powerful beings. They may not necessarily harbor goodwill towards humans; perhaps they only see humans as servants, toys, or objects of observation.”

”Since there can be benevolent deities, why can’t there be malevolent ones? Humans have good and bad people, let alone those advanced beings.”

Zhang Yi leaned back on the sofa, feeling quite emotional.

”What you’re saying is indeed very reasonable. But if they possess such powerful abilities, why did they remain hidden in the past without showing themselves? Why are they emerging one after another now, during the Apocalypse that humanity is facing?”

Yang Xinxin fell silent for a while.

She suddenly said in an uncertain tone, ”Perhaps, they are also waiting for a certain opportunity. For example, now.”

All of this was merely speculation, a hypothesis that Yang Xinxin had deduced by reasoning through various historical materials.

No one could confirm its validity, but for now, speculation was the only way they had to understand the world before their eyes.
