Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Zhang Yi wasn’t in a hurry. Since Pagyi Gesang had invited him here, the man would naturally reveal his purpose in due time.

As the group clinked glasses and drank, they discussed some experiences from the post-apocalypse era and some secret matters of the Snowy Plateau Region.

Both Zhang Yi and Pagyi Gesang spoke only in general terms, not revealing too many secrets.

However, even the snippets Zhang Yi heard from Pagyi Gesang about the Snowy Plateau were enough to send a chill down his spine.

That mysterious land had never been lacking in secrets.

Yang Xinxin smiled and asked Pagyi Gesang, ”Chief Pagyi, there’s one thing I’m very curious about, concerning your Snowy Plateau’s Dharma-protecting deity, the Lord of the Charnel Ground, whose legend has been passed down through generations. I wonder if it’s convenient to inquire about it?”

Upon hearing this, Pagyi Gesang hesitated for a moment before smiling and saying, ”If it doesn’t touch upon any taboos, I can naturally tell Miss Yang.”

Yang Xinxin smiled. ”Then I’ll ask. If it’s inconvenient to answer, please forgive me.”

”It’s said that the lineage of the Lord of the Charnel Ground on the Snowy Plateau has been passed down for thousands of years, and each successive Lord of the Charnel Ground is the reincarnation of the previous one.”

”Moreover, after they awaken, even if they have never learned to read, they can recite the ’Epic of King Gesar,’ which is millions of words long.”

”This has been a persistent rumor outside the region. I’ve never been to the Snowy Plateau, so I don’t know if it’s true?”

Hearing Yang Xinxin’s question, everyone also turned their gaze in unison towards Pagyi Gesang.

The Heaven-granted singers of the Snowy Plateau had always been a hot topic online, and they too wanted to know if it was true.

Upon hearing this, Pagyi Gesang nodded seriously.

”I can confirm this point for everyone; it is undoubtedly true. And this point is also our most effective method for confirming the reincarnated Lord of the Charnel Ground.”

His gaze drifted into the air, becoming reverent and submissive.

”Over two thousand years ago, a great figure appeared on the land of the Snowy Plateau. He was our immortal hero, King Gesar!”

”He saved countless suffering people of the Snowy Plateau from the hands of the Demon Kingdom and established a powerful dynasty.”

”The ’Epic of King Gesar’ is the immortal epic of the Snowy Plateau. Every child of the Snowy Plateau sings of his great achievements!”

Hearing this, Zhang Yi said curiously, ”King Gesar was not the first Lord of the Charnel Ground, but since his time, every subsequent Lord of the Charnel Ground has been able to recite the ’Epic of King Gesar,’ right?”

He found it particularly miraculous in his heart. Exchanging glances with Yang Xinxin and the others, Zhang Yi knew from their expressions that they all harbored the same suspicion.

That legendary hero of the Snowy Plateau, King Gesar, was a superhuman from over two thousand years ago.

The so-called reincarnation and the ability of the Heaven-granted singers were, in fact, a powerful superhuman ability.

The Snowy Plateau was too mysterious; many things originally couldn’t be explained by scientific methods at all.

But after the apocalypse, with the arrival of the Great Mutation Era, all sorts of strange and bizarre abilities had appeared in the world.

If explained through superhuman abilities, then the various miracles of the Snowy Plateau would make sense.

Pagyi Gesang twitched his two thin mustaches, smiling cheerfully as he said,

”That was a moving and tragic epic. Before the appearance of King Gesar, the Snowy Plateau was ruled by the Demon Kingdom for a very long time.”

”According to the ’Epic of King Gesar,’ the Demon Kingdom came from a place called the Demon Abyss, which was connected to the terrifying Netherworld Hell.”

”And the people of the Demon Kingdom all came from hell to the human world. They ruled the Snowy Plateau, plunging its people into deep misery.”

”And it was at this time that King Gesar emerged, leading divine soldiers and generals to exterminate the Demon Kingdom! They sealed them under the Great Snow Mountain, never to appear again.”

After hearing this story from Pagyi Gesang, Zhang Yi couldn’t help but feel a bit strange in his heart.

A Demon Kingdom from the Netherworld Hell?

Why did he instinctively link the Demon Kingdom with the monsters from the Mist Valley abyss and the mysterious Serpent-folk beneath the Dragon Vein of the Qinling Mountains?

Was Pagyi Gesang telling him this intentionally or unintentionally?

Pagyi Gesang continued, ”Nowadays, at the beginning of the first month of the plateau calendar every year, we hold a grand Prayer Festival to commemorate the great achievements of King Gesar. At that time, many enlightened monks will also gather to debate the Dharma.”

Pagyi Gesang leaned forward slightly towards Zhang Yi, saying earnestly,

”Lord Chaos, as a chief of the Snowy Plateau, I can invite distinguished guests to participate in the Prayer Festival.”

”If you and your family and friends are willing to attend, I would be happy to guide you.”

Zhang Yi quickly calculated the time; there were still over three months until this so-called Prayer Festival.

He nodded with a smile. ”Thank you for your kind offer, Chief Pagyi. We’ll discuss it among ourselves. If we decide to go, we’ll contact you, alright?”

Zhang Yi simply took it as polite courtesy from Pagyi Gesang and didn’t pay it much mind.

The situation in the Southwest Region was too complicated; he had no desire to wade into the muddy waters of another major region.

Pagyi Gesang smiled slightly and didn’t press the issue further.

Instead, he warmly gestured for everyone to continue their meal.

Zhang Yi and his group didn’t stand on ceremony either. The meal was indeed delicious; that chef, Luodan, truly had impeccable skills.

They didn’t know what the food was made of, but the meat was exceptionally fresh and flavorful.

Upon asking, Zhang Yi learned it was a local specialty brought from the Tibetan region: yak meat and wild wolf meat.

”Originally, they are rather coarse foods, but Luodan has a unique way of cooking them.”

Pagyi Gesang laughed. ”Actually, there are even more delicious ingredients, but the journey this time was too long, so it wasn’t convenient to bring them. If you all come to Lhasa City next time, I will definitely let you taste the finest Snowy Plateau cuisine.”

Zhang Yi smiled. ”Alright, since you’ve said so, I’ll definitely have to go next time.”

The meal passed quickly. Zhang Yi had originally thought Pagyi Gesang would make some request of him.

But unexpectedly, Pagyi Gesang simply chatted with them, introducing some of the local customs and culture of the Snowy Plateau, and didn’t bring up anything else.

By the end of the meal, Zhang Yi even began to think he had overthought things; perhaps the man was simply trying to get closer to him.

However, just as they were about to leave after the meal, Pagyi Gesang’s personal bodyguard, Suolang Deji, who stood nearly two meters tall like a black iron tower, walked over, holding a black metal case in both hands.

The gazes of Zhang Yi and the others fell on the case, wondering what it was.

Pagyi Gesang smiled at Zhang Yi. ”I have a small gift here, just a souvenir. I noticed you all seem interested in the culture of the Snowy Plateau. You can take this to look at. I guarantee it’s a unique copy; you won’t find it anywhere else.”

As he spoke, he used a fingerprint lock to open the iron case. Unexpectedly, there was a wooden box inside.

Just one glance told them the box was ancient, as if a gust of wind could scatter it to dust.

Pagyi Gesang carefully opened the wooden box, took out a scroll of yellowed parchment from inside, and then solemnly presented it to Zhang Yi.

”What is this?”

Zhang Yi asked curiously.

Pagyi Gesang smiled faintly. ”This is a fragment of the ’Epic of King Gesar’ from over a thousand years ago.”
