Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”You’re not even well yourself, how do you have the time to meddle in other people’s business, huh?”

His large hand gently massaged the sole of her foot, trying to pass the warmth from his palm to her.

Her brows were furrowed tightly, her face pale.

Joshua Hughes sighed, this woman was simply soft-hearted. He waved his hand, and the several servants holding whips retreated skillfully.

”From now on, when you see Miss Jane, it’s as if you’ve seen me. Let’s put today aside, but if this happens again, it won’t be as simple as getting whipped. You should clearly know the rules of the Hughes Family.”

After speaking coldly, he gestured for everyone to step back.

Two strong servants lifted the nurse sitting on the ground, who was in too much pain to get up, and half-dragged her out of the hall.

Moments later, the people disappeared like receding tide waters.

Only three individuals remained.

”Whatever you want, if you don’t want to come down, then don’t. From now on, your words will be like mine. You can instruct people here as you wish, understand?”

Joshua Hughes was pleased to feel her soles gradually warming, her bloodless lips beginning to regain color.

Evelyn Yates’ lips trembled; he had called her an outsider in front of everyone, but now he was publicly saying that Avery Jane’s words would be as if they were his.

What was he trying to do?

She was the mother of his child. Evelyn stared at the wicked yet elegant man, who was unscrupulously playing with a woman’s small foot, as if it were the most amusing toy in the world.

”Joshua, what is this, what about me and the child in my belly? You want to play with me, I’ve let you, but today in front of so many people, you can’t even give me the most basic respect?”

Evelyn’s voice was urgent and trembling, she was about to go crazy.

If there were a gun, she would without hesitation point it at Avery Jane and tear a bloody hole in her heart.

”What are you? What do you think? You’re nothing to me here, I’ve told you before, if you can safely give birth to the Hughes child, then naturally, the Hughes will give you an explanation. Until then, you’re nothing, got it?”

Joshua didn’t even lift his eyelids, his sharp words were something Evelyn couldn’t accept.

”But I already have a child.”

She couldn’t help but cry out, this man was terrifying when he was heartless.

But looking back, when had he ever been affectionate to her?

”If I, Joshua Hughes, want women to have children, do you believe I could have a hundred? You know best how this child came to be. Don’t say anything further, stay quietly, or no one can protect you.”

Like a devil, his words carried indifference.

He didn’t care she had this child; this was his first child, but he seemed completely uninterested.

When he spoke the words that the child was an accident, Evelyn’s body swayed, appearing as if she might collapse. Those words were like the final straw that broke a camel’s back, shattering all her confidence.

Then watching the man effortlessly pick up Avery Jane again and walk into the elevator.

When Avery Jane woke up, she discovered Joshua Hughes was long gone from the bed; he was actually very busy.

Previously at the Imperial Garden, he would often stay up all night in the study looking at documents, and he woke up very early.

She never understood why, despite spending the whole night tossing and turning with her, he could still act like nothing happened the next day, getting up early for work, while she always felt exhausted, like a dog, wanting to linger in bed, unwilling to get up.

She chuckled bitterly, this is so-called a social parasite—idle, valueless, making no contribution.

She got up, finished grooming and changed clothes, and hearing movement, the servant outside lightly knocked on the door.

”Come in.”

She said softly, and the door was gently opened by a maid, around forty years old, asking respectfully: ”Does Miss Jane wish to dine upstairs or go downstairs?”

Avery Jane looked out at the large terrace; having breakfast there would be nice.

”I’ll eat upstairs, it’s fine, thank you.”

Avery Jane thought she didn’t want to meet Evelyn Yates; it would be too awkward. Moreover, she also knew Evelyn hated her to death right now.
