Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

The man’s shadow was like a monster ready to devour, suddenly emerging from the darkness just as she was about to run into the sunlight, swallowing her whole.

”Don’t worry, I’ve got it all arranged, Avery, I’ll take you away. We will definitely leave,” Beckett spoke gently, offering her all the reassuring certainty she needed.

Two figures quietly disappeared from the back door of the hospital, as if they had never been there at all.

Avery vanished, and when the housekeeper received the news, he froze in place, as if struck by lightning, utterly at a loss.

The matter had become serious, more serious than he had ever anticipated.

He had instructed the hospital staff to notify him immediately if there were any changes in Avery’s condition, and Avery was already unconscious when she left, without taking any documents.

But the hospital reported that during the morning rounds, they found that the patient had already left, most likely in the middle of the night.

The housekeeper’s face turned deadly pale, cold sweat slowly trickling down his forehead.

If she had left in the morning, it might have been fine, as she could have returned on her own. But since she left quietly in the middle of the night without alerting anyone, there was only one possibility: Miss Jane must have had a plan to escape.

Where could she go?

She should still be in this city. Without documents, she wouldn’t get far.

The problem was the young master was returning tonight, so how should he report this to him?

The housekeeper wondered whether he should call the young master now.

However, the young master was away on business, and calling him abruptly seemed inconvenient.

But the person disappeared under his watch. How was he going to explain this to the young master?

It looked like even family discipline couldn’t save him this time; twenty lashes would be lenient.

He had been too complacent. Avery Jane seemed timid, how did she muster the courage to run away?

Besides, there were many women clinging to the young master, so he never sensed she wanted to escape.

It truly was a careless mistake; even the most timid rabbit can bite fiercely when pushed into a corner.

Throughout his life at Hughes Manor, he had never made such a grave error, yet somehow he managed to infuriate the master several times over Avery Jane. Truly, a beauty is a source of sorrow.

”Alex, have you been staring at your phone all day? Is it broken?”

Joshua sat in the cabin, knowing that in a few hours he would be back home.

He hadn’t seen Avery Jane for over two days, and the longing was so intense it seemed to ache within his bones.

Damn it, fortunately, all business matters were settled.

In the last two days of this year, he had nothing more to do and could finally indulge in his entanglement with her.

Thinking of Avery Jane, his body involuntarily felt as though electric currents were coursing through him, making him secretly curse himself for being crazily hungry for a woman.

Alexander didn’t even lift his head; he suspected his phone was broken.

Since Nora Thompson had sent him a message, he hadn’t heard back.

The message was simple, just like her: ”When will you return?”

The message, including punctuation, totaled five characters, yet it made him as excited as if he were on a high, detailing every detail of their schedule over the past two days.

But she hadn’t sent another message, nor had she called.

He even suspected his phone was broken, but it wasn’t. Whenever someone else called, it rang joyfully.

But none of those calls were from the number he longed for.

His mind was filled with uncertainty, wondering if she was urging him to finalize the divorce since, upon reflection, her question didn’t seem to care about his feelings.

Annoyed, he scratched his head, ignoring Joshua’s mocking gaze, just wishing they could arrive soon.

He needed to find Nora Thompson; he couldn’t remain passive any longer.

The plane taxied slowly down the runway, and the two men, each harboring their own thoughts, looked out the cabin window, finally arriving back home.

Driving back to Hughes Manor, Joshua was in a rare good mood.

Perhaps he really shouldn’t have been so harsh with that little woman, but he really lost his mind out of anger.

Lucas Yates was a dead man, and she had belonged to him all along; didn’t he, Joshua, end up being the one with her?

If given enough time, her heart would surely change, and Joshua remained confident about that.
