Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”Deal, starting from this moment, you have two months. If I find her before you, the deal is off.”

Truly the shrewdest businessman, not letting anyone take advantage for even a second.

Angela Scott nodded and turned to leave the office.

How pitiful Avery Jane really is, to have such a friend?

Joshua Hughes took a deep drag on his cigarette. If Avery Jane knew she was being used in an exchange by her friend, how hurt would she be?

That woman values feelings deeply; this kind of betrayal would hurt more than being killed.

Watching Angela Scott’s departing figure, his eyes coldly pierced through her like arrows. Greedy woman, traitorous woman should stay far away from her. Avery Jane is like a pure pool of water — simple and transparent. The woman named Scott has long been tainted by society, no longer showing her original colors.

Two months, sixty days, one thousand four hundred and forty hours, eighty-six thousand four hundred minutes. Avery Jane, I’ll wait until you come back. This time, don’t even think about leaving again; never...ever...

The night is deep, many people are unable to fall asleep.

Studying the passenger list carefully, Angela Scott is trying to find any clue among the names.

She is certain that Avery Jane took this flight.

But there are many people on the plane. After eliminating about three-quarters of the male passengers, only less than a hundred female passengers remain, Avery Jane among them.

She wrote down each name on white paper with a black pen.

Now, she can only exclude them one by one, eventually reaching a conclusion. Once she knows which city she’s in, finding one person won’t be that difficult.

Perhaps there’s a bit of guilt in her heart, but this feeling quickly vanishes.

She tells herself, a girl like Avery Jane is truly suited for being cared for by a strong man like Joshua Hughes — pampered with luxury.

Some people are often selfish, clearly doing wrong, but always finding various excuses to evade responsibility.

Angela Scott is precisely such a woman.

Avery Jane called her to say goodbye when she left, as she really doesn’t have many friends in this city.

She told her that her phone was about to be turned off, the plane was about to take off, and she was leaving this city. Beside her sat someone who was also on the phone, speaking Cantonese. Through the call, she could hear the person next to her saying in Cantonese that they would soon be home, so she deduced the destination of Avery Jane’s flight is a Cantonese-speaking place.

Then she checked the flight departing at that time and confirmed that Avery Jane was on a flight to Sydney.

After much effort, she got the list and it was indeed as she guessed, Avery Jane used a fake name.

If she used her real name, Joshua Hughes would have found her long ago. It wouldn’t be her place to negotiate terms.

But who among these people is Avery Jane? In these two months, she needs to rule them out one by one to find her.

Joshua Hughes is also searching, so she must find her before he does, as quickly as possible.

Maybe she could tell Joshua Hughes everything she knows, but there’s a faint hatred in her heart. She wants to find Avery Jane herself and send her back to Joshua Hughes, severing any possibility between her and Beckett Wright forever.

Time always seems to pass at various speeds. Living alone, breathing alone, feeling the wind from the South Pacific, sometimes sad, sometimes happy, Avery Jane sits in the courtyard, daydreaming. Did she really escape?

”Zoe, hurry up and come have breakfast.”

The landlady’s sons have long gone abroad to live, even marrying foreign women.

She runs a small fruit shop alone in Seattle, while Avery Jane attends school and helps the landlady with the shop as a part-time job.

The landlady has a small stall at the door, selling some pancakes and soy milk in the morning.

As there are not many customers yet, she skillfully makes a portion for Avery Jane, shouting and shaking her head, ”Nowadays, women always don’t eat.”

She can’t figure out how a skinny girl like Zoe always has a cat-sized appetite.

Avery Jane snaps back to reality. She’s been called this name for over ten years, but suddenly changing names is hard to adapt to.

She has been in Washington State for more than a month. She’s starting to get used to the climate, the lifestyle, and even the heavily accented Taiwanese language, understanding a word or two. Yet, every time the landlady calls her Zoe, she still freezes for a moment before reacting.

”Dame Jasper, I can’t eat this much.” The oversized breakfast, with at least double the filling in the pancake, Dame Jasper is a very enthusiastic landlady.

”Of course, you must finish it all. I tell you, you’re too thin. It’s really not good; men don’t like it.”

Dame Jasper speaks Mandarin with a strong Taiwanese accent, sounding both endearing and amusing. Avery Jane laughs as she takes the soy milk, drinking big gulps.

”Zoe, you’re here studying, how come your man is so trusting?” Dame Jasper says while frying pancakes, turning to ask.

Avery Jane bites into the pancake, hearing this and suddenly freezing, her hands stopping there. Her man, is he the gentle, considerate angel far away in Heaven’s Realm, or the one who selfishly possesses and confines her, the demon?

Whenever it’s quiet late at night, the eyes of these two always seem to blend together unexpectedly. Wenyard Cooper’s gaze is always serene and distant, while Joshua Hughes is wild and domineering. How can they overlap?

She must be crazy. Avery Jane shakes her head in fear, quickly pulling herself out of her illusions.

”Dame Jasper, no one wants me, you said yourself I’m too skinny.” Avery Jane mumbles with her mouth full of pancake.

”My son just doesn’t listen. He loves a foreign woman so much that I don’t even know what she’s saying. He’s already married, otherwise, I would introduce him to you.”

Dame Jasper looks at Avery Jane with satisfaction. This girl is still very obedient, spending all her time either attending classes at school or helping her sell fruit. Such a girl would make the best daughter-in-law, but unfortunately, her son loves foreigners.

”Dame Jasper, I’ll help you put out the new pineapples.”

Avery Jane finishes breakfast and starts working. There really is a lot of fruit in Washington State, and it’s cheap and delicious. She works here, always having plenty of fruit to eat, so she’s actually not that skinny anymore. With the high sugar content of fruits, she’s seemingly gained two pounds.

”Zoe, come watch the stall for me first, I’ll go change clothes inside, seems like the wind is strong today.”

Dame Jasper hands the spatula to Avery Jane and walks through the narrow fruit shop aisle, going upstairs to her room to change clothes.

Avery Jane hasn’t been here long, but she’s already the fruit goddess of this small street, doubling the business at Dame Jasper’s pancake stall.

The nearby youngsters all love coming here to buy pancakes. Soon, the small stall is surrounded by motorcycles. Avery Jane seriously makes pancakes, not noticing that someone from afar is using a phone to capture it all..........
