Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”That doesn’t matter, I play if I want, and she approached me first, so isn’t it my treat? After all, travel is lonely, and it’s nice to have someone to relieve the boredom,” Joshua Hughes shrugged indifferently. Donna, that name seemed to come from the last century.

When he was younger, his taste was truly terrible. How could he have liked such a woman?

But just such innocence already drove him crazy—what if one day she was as passionate as fire, would he lose his mind even more completely?

He wondered what she was doing at this moment?

Was she doing the chores of a servant?

Thinking of this, his heart ached slightly. In fact, regarding Avery Jane, he felt more helplessness. On the surface, he appeared stronger, always holding the dominant position, but only he knew deep down.

He was simply afraid, afraid that he had no way to make her stay, her heart elusive, her gaze never lingering on him, and yet he considered this the best gift of his life.

So while he hadn’t tired of her yet, he would never allow her to leave first, absolutely not.

He wouldn’t know that beneath countless clouds, that woman was lying weakly in a hospital.

The hospital ward was very quiet, so quiet you could hear the sound of the IV drip, drop by drop seeming to seep into Beckett Wright’s heart.

Her fever had gradually subsided, the unusual redness on her face turning to a wall-like pallor, and Beckett’s mind was still echoing the angry words of the female doctor: ”Young man, don’t rely on a good body to act so recklessly. How could you be so inconsiderate? She’s sick, how can you be so rough? You look so well-mannered, how can you be so thoughtless? I’ve already treated her, don’t think that just because she’s had subcutaneous implants for contraception you can be so unrestrained. Although the side effects of those injections are very low, she still isn’t quite accustomed to them because her constitution is very sensitive. I suggest you switch to another contraceptive method. Also, with this weather, don’t let her hands soak in cold water. Looking at your conditions, how could you bear to let such a girl’s hands freeze like that, truly unbearable...”

While prescribing medication and handling various procedures, the female doctor nagged on and on.

Beckett’s heart was hit repeatedly, almost as if it were about to be shattered.

If he were her boyfriend, he would surely cherish her, certainly be good to her, but he wasn’t. Thinking of this made his heart so bitter that even his tongue began to feel numb.

How could he possibly let her be a servant, how could Joshua Hughes bear to do such a thing?

That kind of man is truly despicable, not only possessing Avery but also making her labor. Could Joshua Hughes really not afford to hire servants?

Joshua Hughes is about to get married, and he wasn’t good to her. Why would she stay there?

Could it be that Joshua Hughes is really that attractive to her?

Or is she being forced, because the last time he saw Avery she seemed really scared of him.

The questions in his heart slowly emerged. If he wasn’t good to her, then did he still have a chance?

Picking up a cotton swab, he dipped it in water and gently wiped Avery Jane’s chapped lips, tenderly and carefully.

”Sir, are you staying overnight to accompany her?” The head nurse came in and asked softly.

”Yes, I’ll stay with her.”

Beckett turned back, lightly gesturing a finger on his lips, signaling to speak softly.

The head nurse finished her documentation, smiled, and left.

Out the door, she pondered, this man was truly strange, seeming so gentle and well-mannered on the outside, yet probably one of those guys the young girls nowadays would say is a real beast in disguise. Otherwise, how could he be so terrifying? Seeing the scars all over her during their examination was truly shocking and appalling.
