Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

The man’s strong arms encircled her petite body, his large hands gently brushing her cheek: ”Why did you lie to me?”

Avery Jane’s heart suddenly leapt with fear, her small face was turned around by his fingers, meeting his gaze, his pupils dark and deep like the most mysterious black holes in the cosmos.

Did he know where she had gone?

Avery Jane muttered to herself that she was truly in trouble now, this man was always quick-tempered and unpredictable; who knew what he would put her through?

His gaze made her tense to the extreme, her heart trembling one beat after another, she subconsciously bit her lip, opening her mouth slightly, saying: ”I really didn’t want to deceive you.”

Avery Jane didn’t know how to tell him about this matter.

”Then why did you deceive me?” He listened patiently to her explanation, yet Avery Jane couldn’t muster any reasonable explanation.

She couldn’t possibly tell him that her first reaction upon receiving his call was not to inform him, that her deception was a reflexive action of her body.

Seeing her inability to explain, Joshua Hughes’ brows slowly furrowed, casting a shadow upon them. He knew her thoughts, aside from that.

Because her worries were written all over her face, from the moment she received his call, all she thought of was deceiving him, never considering the consequences.

”So where exactly did you go?” Joshua Hughes spoke lightly, but the less pronounced his tone, the more danger it contained.

He didn’t know where she had gone, yet she, under his gaze, was flustered and admitted to deceiving him.

Tangling with this man, she was no match at all; just now she was a fool.

”I...” Avery Jane hesitated on whether to deceive him again this time, what if she truthfully told him she went to see Wenyard?

He would be furious then, and what if she told him she went somewhere else?

But where could she say she had gone?

Avery Jane lowered her head, her mind buzzing, her ears starting to hum.

”I went to take care of some personal matters.”

She softly replied, glancing at him secretly, his gaze still fixed on her, his expression calm as ever, yet she could clearly feel his anger, his emotions starting to turn sour like the sky before a storm, oppressive.

”Personal matters?”

He lifted his hand to loosen his tie, undoing a shirt button, the edges of his eyes gradually tinged with hostility.

”I always have some personal matters; don’t be unreasonable.” Avery Jane said softly, her tone carrying dissatisfaction and complaint.

Wasn’t she allowed to see Wenyard?

Even though he was no longer around, he was still her husband.

Unreasonable? That’s the funniest joke in the world.

Joshua Hughes simply enjoyed seeing her struggle, watching her dare not lift her head, his slim lips curling into a sensuous, attractive arc.

”You cried today?” His fingers lifted her chin, observing her slightly swollen eyes.

She met his gaze, feeling an overwhelming chill starting to spread from his eyes, invading her skin’s pores, reaching into her blood. Those eyes, like a cold lake.

”But why did you cry? Surely it’s because I’m not good enough?” Joshua Hughes’ hand on her chin slowly intensified, his thumb gently stroking the soft skin around her eyes, the more gentle his actions, the clearer the aura of gloom around him.

”Tell me, where exactly did you go today?”

Joshua Hughes abruptly intensified his tone, and Avery Jane, terrified, realized her chin was about to be crushed, she was losing the strength to even speak, the words she wanted to explain stuck in her throat like fish bones.

”You don’t want to tell me, do you?” Joshua Hughes, his long, thick brows knitted tightly: ”Or should I tell you?” His pupils even colder, his lips carrying a smile, yet it appeared cruel beyond compare.

”Just met your husband, you should be happy, why the tears? Ah, I almost forgot, he’s already dead, didn’t even get to enjoy your charming body before he died.”

Joshua Hughes released her chin, his large hand slipping through her smooth hair, suddenly pulling back: ”Dared not tell me?”

Like an idiot, he wanted to take her out to relax, but she spent hours at a dead man’s grave?

Yet barely willing to speak a word with him.

He, really, wished he could kill her.

But that would be too easy for her, didn’t she want to find her deceased lover?

But he wasn’t granting it; he wanted her alive, by his side, day and night for his pleasure, this heartless woman wasn’t worthy of his affection.

”I didn’t, I really just went to have a cup of coffee at first.” Avery Jane endured the pain, trembling as she spoke.

”Really?” Joshua Hughes’ smile grew colder: ”Then you couldn’t help but suddenly want to see him?”

That she could be so moved by a cup of coffee enraged Joshua Hughes even further.

Joshua Hughes’ lips pressed tightly, his proud chin held firm, his sharp gaze like the most precise scalpel, coldly piercing her.

”Didn’t I say? You’re not allowed to think of that dead man again?” His voice lowered, the air seemed filled with growing bubbles, suffocating.

”You said yourself, couldn’t help it, what can I do about it?” Avery Jane’s words inflamed Joshua Hughes thoroughly.

”You’ve really borrowed courage from the heavens, Avery Jane, seems I’ve given you too much freedom.”

”I’ve sheltered you under my wings, yet you don’t appreciate it at all.” Joshua Hughes’ eyes narrowed dangerously, his icy tone stirring the surrounding air to its extreme coldness: ”How do you deserve it?”

She’s a heartless woman, how could she deserve his care?

”Let go of me, let go of me.” He pulled her painfully, the more she struggled, the angrier he became, her evasive gaze, her lies, her destination today all made his fury reach its peak.

His big hand yanked hard, sharp pain spreading from her scalp as though trying to tear her entire scalp from her head.

Tears fell like broken pearls, large and heavy: ”It hurts so much, Joshua Hughes, you lunatic...”

Actually, he wanted to pretend he didn’t know, but he couldn’t stand it.

When she came looking for him, the hem of her clothes and pants legs were still speckled with dry bits of grass, all reminding him that this woman had been sitting on the grass at a grave, silently shedding tears while reminiscing her most beloved man.

Actually, it doesn’t even need to be called most loved, there was never another man in her heart, he was just a laughable occupier.

He was nothing in her heart, not the most loved, not even secondary, not even loved, he didn’t count at all.
