Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

The phone on the bedside table kept ringing.

Avery Jane struggled to prop herself up and picked it up: ”Avery Jane, it’s Beckett Wright.”

The voice on the other end was clean and bright.

Holding the commemorative album in her hand, this was specially customized by Grant, several of Avery Jane’s photographed images were inside, along with a beautifully expensive platinum bracelet as a souvenir.

This is only given to super VIPs, not available on the market, Beckett specially reserved a set for Avery Jane.

It’s the gift he wanted to give her.

”Hello, do you need anything?”

Avery Jane spoke weakly, her throat felt as if it had been scraped by rough sandpaper, painfully burning.

”Are you sick? Avery Jane, what’s wrong with you?”

Beckett could tell from the phone that her voice was different, like a dying little animal, emitting a faint, powerless sound.

”I, I seem to be...” Avery Jane hadn’t finished speaking, her hand fell weak, and she fainted, the phone dropped on the cold floor.

”Avery Jane, what’s wrong?” The anxious voice of the man on the phone couldn’t wake the unconscious woman.

——————————————Divider————————————————

No one knew in that small house, the woman with a high fever had fallen into a very serious condition.

It was in the afternoon when Beckett drove to find the Hughes Family.

He inquired from many people to find out where Joshua Hughes lived, Avery Jane had always been with him, but the situation on the phone just now made him uneasy, he had a bad feeling.

With this album in hand, he also had a reason to look for her, he was very worried about Avery Jane, extremely worried.

It is because he likes someone that he wants her to live a little better, even if it means standing in the dark silently blessing her it would be happy, but what if she’s not well?

Many in high society are already talking about Joshua Hughes and Evelyn Yates’ affairs, Miss Yates is pregnant, this position as Madam Hughes is definite, then what about Avery Jane?

What is she going to do?

That man is keeping her, yet he refuses to give her a title, what does this count for?

The car was stopped at the entrance, Beckett spoke to the guard in black about his purpose of finding Avery Jane.

The guard in black made a call to the housekeeper, then took him inside.

”Hello, I’m a friend of Miss Jane’s, this is her album and souvenir, could I hand it to her personally?”

Beckett looked at the housekeeper, his hair neatly combed, shirt as white as snow, a colored bow tie, his pants creased sharply like it could cut paper.

”Miss Jane has work, I can deliver this for you.” The housekeeper answered politely.

Beckett was extremely anxious: ”I want to see her in person, I called her just now, she seemed very unwell.”

His concerned expression also made the housekeeper a little worried, when Avery Jane was sent back to rest in the morning her complexion was indeed very poor.

The housekeeper thought it good to check on her too, wouldn’t want anything to happen now.

The small room was pushed open, cold like an ice hole, the surroundings were all white, only Avery Jane’s face was so flushed it seemed blood was about to drip, her lips already cracked, adorned with eerie bloodstains, an uncanny beauty.

The air in the room was cold, like an ice cave.

Beckett walked over anxiously and gently touched Avery Jane’s forehead, shocked at how hot it was: ”Avery Jane, Avery Jane...”

He softly called her name, but the person on the bed was so drowsy she didn’t even open her eyes, just discomforted turned her head, making dream-like murmurs.

Beckett picked up her phone that fell to the ground, then lifted her from the bed horizontally, she was wearing the servant’s clothes here, it seemed too cold, Beckett took off his coat and draped it over her.

His mind filled with countless questions, clearly she could earn more and work easier by shooting advertisements, why was she working as a servant here?

No question compared to the worry when seeing her, thin and weary, her sickness made her look even more vulnerable and protective.

”Mr. Wright, what are you doing?” The housekeeper saw Beckett lifting Avery Jane, alarm bells rang in his heart, he blocked the door asking.

”Can’t you see she’s already this sick, if she’s not immediately sent to the hospital something will happen.”

Beckett’s face full of anxiety, how could people here be so insensitive?
