Dragon Monarch System

Chapter 920:- A Promised Reward

”Itʼs another lovely day!” Said a woman who was watering the plants in her little garden. The garden was behind the inn that she and her family ran.

For as long as they could remember, they have been native of this world. But as a bridge between two worlds, the Main Continent and the Six Continents, she had seen countless travellers. She had seen so many faces that even with her enhanced memory, she could not remember everyoneʼs faces.

It was just impossible.

Just yesterday, she had two interesting guests.

They looked like a couple, but with her centuries of experience, based on how they interacted with each other, it seems like they were still a step away from becoming a couple.

”What was their name again?” The woman paused and wondered out loud.

”Ohh right!!....It was Ivan and Jessica!”

Ring.....!!!

Just then, the bronze earring in her left ear started to vibrate. She also heard a bell ringing sound in her ears. Only the wearer of the artifact could hear this sound.

ʼItʼs from them!ʼ The womanʼs expression quickly became serious.

Back when she was in her 20s, Raven had a desire to travel to the Main Continent. In her journey, some accidents happened, and she ended up becoming a scout of that organisation.

At first, she was actively trying to gather information for the Organisation without caring about anything else. She ignored her family, her cultivation, and her own matters and prioritised the Organisation above all. But as she got married and settled down, she almost became an inactive scout.

Every decade or two, she would try to provide some valuable insight just so that the organisation doesnʼt think that she has abandoned them or she has died.

In her centuries-old life, if there was anything that she regretted the most, that would be joining this mysterious organisation to become their scout. At first, she thought that this was the door that would give her tons of resources that cultivators need to reach a high order of cultivation. But very quickly, she was mistaken.

Yes, valuable information did come with very high and generous rewards. But what the organisation did with her information went against her ethics and morals.

The organisation only support those cultivators who have really high talent in cultivation or in some field. Unfortunately for Raven, she had neither. Her real talent lay in household management.

”Hello!” In a hesitant voice, Raven finally answered the call.

”Is this Raven? Scout number 00920.” How long has it been since she last heard her own scout number?

”Yes!”

”Good!” The voice from the other side was the voice of a female. She was one of those members who sat and didnʼt have to do anything. Whatever order they would receive from the higher-ups, she and others like her would need to relay it to the scouts.

[This is to inform every Scout in Tunnel World to look for a duo.]

[Both claims have come from the Hephaestus Kingdom. They go by the name of Ivan and Jessica.]

Hearing this, Raven was stunned.

ʼIsnʼt that the guest she had last night?ʼ She thought in her mind.

The female then went on to discuss what their target looked like.

Her description accurately reflected their appearances. There was no doubt about it.

ʼThey are the ones that the organisation is looking for.ʼ

[Thatʼs it! Let me know if you find anything.] The woman was about to end the communication. She had to repeat these same words to 80 more scouts in this region.

[Wait! I have seen them.] - Raven felt guilty for what she was doing as she knew this was wrong.

ʼThe organisation has thousands of scouts spread across the entire Tunnel World. Sooner or later, they will be found.ʼ Thinking this, the guilt in her heart lessened. On the positive side, this information could bring her fortune, and maybe she could open another Inn.

[Really!] - Her voice was high-pitched. Raven could only imagine her surprised face.

[Yes! Yesterday, they came to stay in my inn and they left very early in the morning.]

[Do you have any other information about them?]

[Our conversation lasted less than 30 seconds. They asked for a room with two beds, and I told them the price. After paying, I took them to their bed. And early this morning, they left.]

[Alright! The information you provided is already very valuable. Your reward will be sent to you but first let me relay this info to my superior.]

Raven stood in her garden with a complex look.

She looked at the blue sky and murmured. ʼI am sorry for doing this.ʼ

Scene Change to Eaglebend City

While looking for her targets yesterday, Kaoru had come to Eaglebend City. Since she couldnʼt find any leads, she decided to stop and wait. As a core member, she knew that the organisation had several thousand Scouts spread across all cities in the Tunnel World. As long as they donʼt change their appearance, then itʼs a matter of time before someone finds their location and reports back to the organisation, and when that happens, it will be her turn to move.

”I didnʼt expect Alex to change this much in just a few decades.”

Alex hated her and was willing to do anything to kill her.

The elites of Velmoor City and Twilith City knew this.

Kaoru also knew this.

But she was never worried. She was more powerful than Alex was.

And besides, she did not regret ending his family.

ʼHmph!ʼ

ʼYou had raised a spoiled pervert.ʼ In her eyes, what she did was right. But what disgusted her was the fact that Alexʼs wife strongly supported her son and stood against her. In anger, she went ahead and killed that annoying bitch.

Yesterday, she visited Velmoor City. She was personally stopped, or more like welcomed, by the City Lord, Alex Jones. Alex was barely holding his anger, seeing the person he hated the most.

Kaoru, on the other hand, did not really care.

She never really cared about this man who joined their organisation just so that he could rise in rank and kill her.

ʼYouʼre still a brat if you think you can become a core member and then kill me.ʼ Kaoru was once a core member of the organisation. If she hadnʼt chosen to retire or settle down somewhere, then by now, she would have regained her original rank.

ʼWhat a stupid dream!ʼ

But if he remained as he is now, she would ignore his existence and carry on with her life. Everyone has the right to pursue their ambitions. If Alex directly blocks her path, then she will kill him. But if he stayed as he is now, then she would pretend that he doesnʼt exist and continue with her life.

[Kaoru, we have news] - It was her superior who sounded kind of excited.

[Where are they?”] - Kaoru asked. This would be the only reason they would contact her.

[Yesterday, they spent the night in Stoneford City. And this morning they left.]

[I have a very strong suspicion that our target might be in the Sand Mirage desert, and they are aiming to reach Brightmoor City.] - Kaoru also felt that this most likely was the case. If Aditya and Lauraʼs destination wasnʼt Mount Soulripper, then why would they come to Stoneford City instead of travelling North?

[I understand! Then, I will head towards Brightmoor City and prepare to face them.] - As for searching the Sand Mirage desert and looking for their target, the idea did not even cross her mind as she knew just how dangerous and cruel that place was. Even cultivators from the main continent hesitated to enter this desert.

[One Last thing, I also sent Alex Jones on this mission. I know both of you donʼt like each other, but for the sake of the mission, when the time comes, both of you will work together to defeat the dragon monarch.]

[I have no problem working with Alex. Is he willing to set aside his quest for vengeance and collaborate with me?]

[I will take care of that. For now, focus on reaching Brightmoor City as soon as possible.]

••••

Scene Change to Alex Jones,

Alex Jones, the City Lord of Velmoor City, was currently travelling towards Stoneford City with his men.

[Alex, where are you?] - Hearing the voice, Alex stopped.

He told his subordinates to wait as he flew a few hundred meters away for privacy.

[Sir, Iʼm currently travelling towards Stoneford City. In 10 to 20 minutes, I should reach that city.]

[Good! Alex, I am willing to give you the opportunity. Itʼs an opportunity that you have been wanting to get for all these decades.] Hearing this, Alexʼs heart skipped a beat.

[Sir....]

[Although you are a scout, from now on, you are a permanent outer member of the Organisation under my command.] - Hearing this, Alex became really excited. Finally, he was an outer member.

[Donʼt be happy too soon, as I have something even more exciting for you.]

[Please go on, sir!] - Alex could hardly wait.

[I have a mission for you, and that is to hunt the Dragon monarch. As long as you kill him and that woman by his side, even if you die, I promise, as a reward, we will fulfil your vengeance and make sure that Kaoru is dead.] - Hearing this, Alex was so stunned that he couldnʼt speak. To think, the Organisation was willing to promise him something as huge as this.

[Sir, is this even possible?] - As if afraid that his words might offend the superior, he quickly added.

[Itʼs not that Iʼm doubting you, itʼs just...…] - Alex didnʼt know how to explain himself without offending his superior.

[Donʼt worry, I understand what you mean! Kaoru has retired from the Organisation, and now she is working as a scout. She is of no use to the organisation. If the Dragon Monarch can be killed by her sacrifice, then itʼs worth it.]

Alex did not even need any time to think, as the answer was already in his head and heart.

[Sir, I am ready!]

[Good! Go to Stoneford City and wait a few hours. I have sent 10 Outer members who will assist you in this mission. Currently, due to time constraints, this is what I was able to prepare to help you.]

But to Alex, this was more than enough.

[Sir, I couldnʼt ask for more. I promise not to disappoint you.]

[As I said before, the Dragon Monarch might be travelling to Brightmoor City to enter Mount Soulripper. For now, focus on reaching that city as soon as possible. After reaching that place, I need you to work with Kaoru to take down the Dragon Monarch.] Hearing this, Alex hesitated for a second but then quickly agreed.

[Good! Alex, I promise on my name that if you succeed in this mission, then your reward will be Kaoruʼs death.]

As the communication ended, the superior, who was sitting in a dark room, sneered.

”Idiot!”

”Although she is no longer a core member, no other core member has the authority to award the reward for killing her.” He felt that to take Aditya down, they might need a madman like Alex Jones.

Really, thank you very much to all those who sent support with valuable golden tickets and gifts. I hope we can keep it up!!!
