Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Looks Are Justice

Jin Lian returned Fei Xiang’s call, turning down his dinner invitation. However, she told him that after lunch, she planned to try her luck at the Gambling Stone Factory—a clear attempt to lure him there.

As expected, when Ye Xiu and Jin Lian finished their meal and arrived at the Gambling Stone Factory, Fei Xiang was already waiting at the entrance, craning his neck in anticipation.

”Jin Lian!”

Seeing Ye Xiu and Jin Lian get out of the car, Fei Xiang greeted them with a smile. He completely ignored Ye Xiu, his eyes fixed on Jin Lian as he said with a laugh, ”It’s only been a few months, but you’ve gotten even more beautiful. The moment you stepped out of the car, I swear the sun dimmed a little.”

Ye Xiu snorted coldly. This guy really has his scumbag script down pat. His pickup lines are just effortless.

”Why are you here?” Jin Lian asked, already playing her part and feigning ignorance.

”It’s Grandpa Jin’s eightieth birthday, and he’s an avid jade collector. I figured I’d come over and find a few fine pieces to give him as a gift,” Fei Xiang said. His excuse was impeccable, leaving Jin Lian no room to argue.

So, Jin Lian just offered an expressionless ”Oh,” waiting for Ye Xiu to make his move. But when she glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, she saw no sign of him taking action. Weren’t we here for revenge?

”I bet you’re here to pick out some jade for Grandpa Jin, too, right?” Fei Xiang said, acting as if he’d seen right through her. ”I’ve been gambling on stones for many years and have quite a bit of experience. With me here to help, your trip will definitely be worthwhile. Let’s go inside.”

Jin Lian didn’t respond. Instead, she looked at Ye Xiu, her eyes pleading with him to hurry up and do something. If he didn’t act soon, she’d run out of excuses to refuse Fei Xiang.

”The two of us can go in. The driver can just wait here,” Fei Xiang said, having seen Jin Lian emerge from the passenger seat and mistaking Ye Xiu for her chauffeur.

”I’m not the driver,” Ye Xiu said, wrapping his arm around Jin Lian’s slender waist with a smile. ”I’m Jin Lian’s boyfriend, here to keep her company while she gambles on stones. So, we won’t be joining you. After all, it wouldn’t be right to make you the third wheel.”

Hearing this, Jin Lian was stunned. Wasn’t the plan to beat up Fei Xiang? Why the sudden script change? And this sudden move... it really caught me off guard.

In an instant, she understood his intentions. If Ye Xiu had attacked Fei Xiang right away, Fei Xiang would have assumed she had brought him there specifically for a beatdown. By posing as her boyfriend, Ye Xiu was provoking Fei Xiang to make the first move. That way, when Ye Xiu retaliated, it would have no direct connection to her!

Jin Lian was secretly moved. Ye Xiu didn’t want the feud between them to damage the relationship between the Jin and Fei Families. This man! He’s so considerate, always thinking of others.

”Boyfriend?” Fei Xiang’s anger flared, but it was quickly replaced by a laugh. With an air of someone who had seen through her ploy, he said, ”Jin Lian, that trick is outdated. Even if you want to reject me, there’s no need to spend money hiring a temporary boyfriend just to provoke me.”

”You think too much,” Ye Xiu said. He then leaned in and suddenly kissed Jin Lian on her pretty cheek before shrugging at Fei Xiang. ”I’m definitely not some temporary hire. I’m Jin Lian’s official boyfriend.”

Forcefully kissed by Ye Xiu, Jin Lian froze, her mind going completely blank as a tingle spread through her body. When she came to her senses, she was speechless. Changing the script is one thing, but why add a kissing scene for yourself?

Realizing he was doing it to provoke Fei Xiang, she cooperated by putting on a bashful, sweet expression.

This sent Fei Xiang into a rage. ”Jin Lian, what are you thinking?” he fumed. ”Look at him! His clothes are all from street stalls. He looks like a total country bumpkin. How is he better than me?”

”I’m more handsome than you,” Ye Xiu stated calmly.

Fei Xiang sputtered, feeling a sharp pain as if his heart had been stabbed. He had every advantage and was a perfect match for Jin Lian in terms of social standing, but his looks just couldn’t compare to hers.

”What good is being handsome? Can you eat it? You’re a penniless loser! What can you possibly give Jin Lian?” Fei Xiang lashed out furiously.

”Because I’m handsome, it’s a pleasure for Jin Lian to look at me. You’re too ugly. If Jin Lian were to marry you, she’d probably die from disgust. Waking up in the morning and seeing your face first thing would be enough to give her a heart attack.”

Jin Lian almost choked on her laughter, quickly covering her mouth and lowering her head. She was genuinely astonished. Who would have thought that the famous Xuanse, the Medicine King, could be so sharp and venomous with his insults?

”You...” Fei Xiang’s face turned green with rage, but he didn’t lash out immediately. Instead, he turned to Jin Lian. ”Is this your taste, Jin Lian? Just listen to him! It’s bad enough that he’s poor, but he’s also a classless piece of trash who talks crap. He’s completely unworthy of you.”

”You were the one who was classless first. I’m just retaliating,” Ye Xiu said with a smile. ”I wouldn’t have said a word if you hadn’t scorned my clothes, looked down on me for being a country bumpkin, and declared that I wasn’t good enough for Jin Lian.”

This comeback left Fei Xiang speechless. On second thought, he realized he had indeed been the one to start it. This infuriated him even more, as he now had no excuse to hit Ye Xiu.

”What’s your name?” Fei Xiang asked, planning to find it out and deal with him later.

”My name is... Wang Dazhuang,” Ye Xiu said after a moment’s thought.

”Pfft...” Fei Xiang couldn’t help but laugh. ”I’m just now realizing your clothes are far classier than your name.”

”When you’re handsome, your name doesn’t matter,” Ye Xiu shrugged.

Another jab hit its mark. Fei Xiang took a deep breath and said, ”Jin Lian might be with you for your looks, but the Jin Family will never allow her to marry a poor wretch like you. She is destined to marry a wealthy man like me.”

”What’s so great about having more money than me? I’m more handsome than you. Am I bragging about it?” Ye Xiu retorted with a pout.

Jin Lian could barely contain her laughter. She finally understood the true meaning of being able to defeat anyone with a single, killer move. By focusing solely on his looks, Ye Xiu was torturing Fei Xiang to the point of breaking.

”Darling, let’s not bother with this ugly oaf. He’s an eyesore. Come on, let’s go gamble on some stones,” Ye Xiu said tenderly.

”Okay!” Jin Lian nodded. Suppressing a giggle, she said to Fei Xiang, ”Suit yourself, Fei Xiang!”

With that, Ye Xiu wrapped his arm around her, and they walked toward the entrance of the Gambling Stone Factory.

Fei Xiang was about to explode with rage, but he forced himself to follow them. So, ’Wang Dazhuang’ wants to attack me with his looks? Fine. I’ll strike back with the power of my money and my years of experience in the stone gambling market. I’ll make Jin Lian see that this Wang Dazhuang isn’t just poor, he’s utterly clueless.

”Didn’t we agree on revenge? Why did you just make him angry and leave it at that?” Jin Lian asked Ye Xiu, confused.

”The method of revenge depends on the enemy,” Ye Xiu shrugged. ”For a guy like Fei Xiang, a simple beating would only give him temporary pain. There’s no fun in that.”
