Chapter 322: Chapter 322: Returning the Favor of Spit with a Punch (Part 1)

Six o’clock in the evening.

Shen Wanqiu and ten other illegitimate children of the Shen Family were summoned to Shen Songshan’s villa.

”Great-grandfather, is there a reason you’ve called us here so urgently?” Shen Wanqiu asked. The ten illegitimate children were also puzzled.

”Wanqiu, you’re dressed so beautifully. Where are you going?” Shen Songshan asked, seeing her exquisite makeup, expensive jewelry, and evening gown.

”Tonight is the gathering for the Eight Beauties of the Qin Domain. Many of the second-generation elites from Qi Yun Dao will be there,” Shen Wanqiu replied.

Shen Songshan flew into a rage. ”The Shen Family has been tormented by Ye Xiu to this extent, your father Shen Shihao is half-dead in the hospital, and your grandfather, Shen Qilin, was turned into a vegetable by that same man! How can you still be in the mood to attend a party?”

”I don’t want to go either, but I heard that Luo Qianjun has returned. For the sake of the Shen Family, I feel I must meet him,” Shen Wanqiu said.

Shen Songshan’s eyes lit up. ”Oh? Are you planning to accept Luo Qianjun’s pursuit?”

”To save the Shen Family, I am now willing to do anything,” Shen Wanqiu said, her gaze firm. ”Besides, Luo Qianjun is an outstanding man. I won’t be losing out by marrying him.”

”Good, very good!” Shen Songshan’s old face flushed with excitement. He said kindly, ”Then you should go. Great-grandfather will be waiting for your good news.”

”Just you wait for it!” Shen Wanqiu gave a confident smile, then stood up and left.

Shen Songshan personally walked Shen Wanqiu to the door, his despairing heart reignited with hope.

The Luo Family! They’re the Shen Family’s last hope!

The Luo Family was a clan of the highest elite. Although based in Qi Yun Dao, all its members held Black Water Nation citizenship. Luo Qianjun’s mother was the only daughter of the wealthiest person in Shui Yun City and held considerable influence with the city’s Official Family. As the Luo Family’s sole heir, Luo Qianjun was set to not only take over the family but also inherit the entire fortune of Shui Yun City’s wealthiest person.

Of course, this wasn’t what Shen Songshan valued. He was interested in Luo Qianjun’s special status. Luo Qianjun was an instructor for the Black Water Nation’s Yalu Special Combat Team and possessed astonishing influence within their Ministry of Military Affairs.

If Shen Wanqiu married Luo Qianjun, the entire Shen Family could immigrate to Black Water Nation and start over. Under the protection of the Luo Family, any attempt by Ye Xiu to target them would mean confronting the formidable Luo Qianjun. Even if Ye Xiu dared to declare war on the Luo Family, the Eight Great National Protector War Gods and the Xuanse Official Family would do everything in their power to stop him. After all, a conflict between Ye Xiu and the Luo Family could provoke an international dispute.

Luo Qianjun’s status as an instructor for the Yalu Special Combat Team was particularly significant. Even the Eight Great National Protector War Gods would not dare to provoke him lightly. Doing so would risk sparking a conflict between two nations.

”Great-grandfather, why did you call us here?” Shen Mingxuan, one of the ten illegitimate children, asked.

Shen Songshan sat back down on the sofa. ”You ten, along with Shen Wanqiu, are the most outstanding members of the Shen Family’s younger generation,” he said. ”The Shen Family has a thousand-year legacy; it cannot be allowed to perish in my hands. My original plan was to send you abroad tonight. As long as you live, the Shen Family is not truly gone, and there will be a day when we can rise again.”

Hearing this, Shen Mingxuan and the other nine were incredibly moved. The Shen Family has so many members from its side branches, yet Great-grandfather has chosen us ten as the seeds. This is his acknowledgement of our worth!

Shen Mingxuan asked, ”Now that Luo Qianjun has returned, do we still need to flee the country?”

”Yes, you do!” Shen Songshan said gravely. ”Even if Shen Wanqiu marries Luo Qianjun and Ye Xiu doesn’t dare to move against the Shen Family, we must prevent him from doing something desperate, like spreading the secret of the Blood Pill. The ten of you must still follow the original plan and secretly leave the country tonight.”

”Ye Xiu is watching the Shen Family so closely. Can we really escape?” Shen Mingxuan asked.

”You can!” Shen Songshan said with absolute certainty. ”I chose tonight for your escape precisely because Ye Xiu will be busy with his battle against the Gun God. He won’t have time to pay attention to us.”

”We’ll follow your arrangements, Great-grandfather.” The ten of them were thrilled. Even if the Shen Family is no longer in danger, we still want to go abroad. After all, we aren’t valued here. Abroad, with the family’s resources, we can build a world of our own.

”Good. Go back and prepare. The plane leaves at eight tonight. Remember, this must be kept absolutely secret,” Shen Songshan instructed.

”Yes!” Shen Mingxuan and the other nine immediately left the villa.

Shen Songshan leaned back on the sofa and stared at the ceiling, a cold smile tugging at his lips.

Ye Xiu, you forced me to pass false information to the Gun God for you, but in doing so, you gave me the chance to help the Shen Family’s seeds escape. Hmph...

Shen Songshan thought that because he had passed false information to the Gun God for Ye Xiu, Ye Xiu would be busy fighting him tonight and couldn’t possibly stop Shen Mingxuan and the others from escaping abroad. However, he didn’t know that the Gun God was long dead, much less that Ye Xiu already knew his plan and had countermeasures in place.

「...」

Meanwhile, Ye Xiu and Xia Zhiwei were at a roadside stall, eating barbecue and drinking draft beer. The conversation from a nearby table—occupied by a middle-aged couple, a young couple, and a little girl of about two or three—made both of them frown.

”Grandma, why isn’t that lady wearing any pants?” the little girl asked the middle-aged woman, pointing at Xia Zhiwei.

Xia Zhiwei was wearing shorts, but her T-shirt was so loose and long that it covered them completely, making it look as though she wasn’t wearing any pants.

”Be a good girl, Ruirui. She’s a dirty woman. When you grow up, don’t you become a dirty woman like that,” the middle-aged woman said, stroking the girl’s head.

”Morals are really declining. All girls these days know is how to dress up pretty in as few clothes as possible, and they spend all their time in nightclubs. Sigh...” the middle-aged man lamented.

”Women like her just live off their looks while they’re young! Hmph, I despise women like that. It’s disgusting!” the young woman added.

Ye Xiu couldn’t believe this family. How could they teach a little girl such things? Weren’t they afraid of warping her view of the world?

”Bad woman, bad woman...”

Just then, the little girl named Ruirui suddenly ran over to Xia Zhiwei’s side.

”PTUI!”

She spat right on Xia Zhiwei’s thigh. Then, she started pounding her with her little fists, chanting, ”Bad woman... bad woman...”

Xia Zhiwei was already furious over the family’s vile words, and now their child had run over to spit on and hit her. This sent her into a rage, but she couldn’t bring herself to get angry at a small child. She turned to Ruirui’s parents and grandparents. ”Are you just going to stand there while your child spits on and hits people?”
