Medical and Martial God

Chapter 311: Chapter 311

”Ah...”

Upon seeing Ye Xiu return, Shen Songshan and Shen Qilin screamed in fright. Crouching in the corner, Shen Shicheng hastily continued to laugh loudly.

”Ye Xiu, oh no, Divine Doctor, haha, you’ve come back! It’s a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding! You... you have to listen to my explanation.” Shen Songshan was so frightened he became incoherent, waving his hands frantically as he howled, ”I... I was joking. That’s right, Qilin and I were just joking. How could I possibly tell the Gun God about your plan? Hehe, I was just teasing my son. You... you mustn’t take it seriously, I’m begging you, please! You have to believe me, I was just joking...”

Having lived for nearly a hundred years, Shen Songshan had never been so terrified. He never expected Ye Xiu to return, much less overhear his conversation with Shen Qilin. He was in a full-blown panic, terrified that Ye Xiu would make him experience the feeling of losing his closest kin.

”I see it clearly now,” Ye Xiu said, his face cold as he slowly drew the Bronze Sword. ”A tyrant like you, given the slightest chance, will do everything in your power to launch a desperate counterattack, so long as you haven’t truly stepped through the Ghost Gate.”

”No...” Shen Songshan screamed. ”Don’t, don’t, Divine Doctor, please don’t! I’ll never dare to again! I... I will definitely help you kill the Gun God! I will never harbor such treacherous ideas again!”

”Divine Doctor, please, I beg you to show mercy and spare my dad this one time! I promise, from now on, everyone in the Shen Family will obey your every command!” Shen Qilin pleaded hurriedly.

”Mercy? My capacity for mercy was wiped out by you ten years ago.”

The Bronze Sword returned to its scabbard. Ye Xiu pressed his right hand on Shen Qilin’s head, and in an instant, Shen Qilin’s eyes closed as he collapsed limply to the ground.

”You...” Shen Songshan was stunned speechless, staring blankly at his son on the floor. Suddenly, he lunged forward, clutching Shen Qilin and wailing, ”Qilin, my dear son...”

At that moment, he finally, truly understood the heart-wrenching, soul-tearing pain Ye Xiu must have felt when he lost his loved ones.

”You’re crying too early. He’s not dead,” Ye Xiu said indifferently.

”Huh?” Shen Songshan didn’t comprehend.

”I’ve simply put him in a vegetative state. If you want him to wake up, you will cooperate with me to eliminate the Gun God,” Ye Xiu stated expressionlessly, then left the cell.

”Yes, yes, I’ll cooperate, I’ll definitely cooperate...” Shen Songshan kowtowed repeatedly, no longer daring to entertain any deviant thoughts.

Ye Xiu did not leave the Shen Family estate immediately. Instead, he went to the secret chamber beneath Shen Songshan’s villa, where all the Martial Arts Classics collected by the Shen Family over a thousand years were hidden. The Poison King had told him about it.

Without so much as a glance, he stuffed them all into sacks and hauled them away. Ye Xiu also had a hobby of collecting Martial Arts Classics, and over the years, he had indeed robbed—ahem, collected—quite a few.

In a residential complex across from the Shen Family’s estate, Ned of the Vulture Assassination Group was on a rooftop, observing the Shen compound through a sniper scope.

Suddenly, he saw Ye Xiu walking out, carrying two large sacks.

”Ye Xiu?” Ned was taken aback and quickly sent an email to Smith, the Gun God: ”Ye Xiu is at the Shen Family’s estate right now, carrying two large sacks and walking out, unobstructed. He is fully exposed in my sights. Requesting permission to snipe.”

In less than half a minute, Gun God Smith replied: ”Withdraw immediately!”

Withdraw? Ned was stunned. It was a perfect opportunity to snipe, yet Smith was ordering him to fall back. This means Smith doesn’t trust me to snipe Ye Xiu alone.

Ned felt humiliated. Before joining the Vulture Assassination Group, he was already one of the top ten snipers in the world, and a Great Grandmaster besides. After joining the group, he had undergone a year of special training with Smith and the experts of the Long Family. His strength had risen to the War God Level, and his sniping skills had improved by several levels. Moreover, he could now snipe a target without releasing any Killing Intent.

Hmph, Smith is just worried I’ll snipe Ye Xiu on my own and steal his glory, Ned snorted to himself.

He decided to ignore Smith’s order and snipe Ye Xiu himself. He raised his sniper rifle, took a deep breath, and aimed at Ye Xiu, who was walking through the Shen Family’s compound.

Suddenly, through the scope, Ned clearly saw Ye Xiu looking right at him, a grin spreading across his face.

What’s going on? I didn’t release any killing intent, and I’m so far away. How could Ye Xiu sense me and pinpoint my hiding spot instantly?

Ned gasped, a cold sweat breaking out across his skin. He immediately aborted the assassination attempt and prepared for a swift retreat.

BANG!

At that moment, a bullet entered the back of his head and exited through his forehead. A headshot.

”This Gun God’s skills aren’t all that,” An Dongye said dismissively from the rooftop of the building behind Ned’s. She had thought her battle with the Gun God would be fierce. As it turned out, she’d been aiming at the ’Gun God’ for over an hour, and he hadn’t noticed her at all. Incredibly stupid.

”Little brother, I took down the Gun God. From now on, you can call me the Gun God,” An Dongye bragged over the phone to Ye Xiu.

Ye Xiu chuckled. ”That wasn’t the Gun God. That was Ned, a deserter from the assassin list, ranked ninth. He specializes in battlefield sniping and isn’t very skilled in covert assassination. Beating him doesn’t prove anything.”

An Dongye was dumbfounded. So, little brother had already spotted Ned and even knew so much about him?

”I’m furious. You’ll have to give me a massage to make it up to me,” An Dongye huffed.

”Let’s go back to the inn first,” Ye Xiu said. ”We can discuss some things and then go for that massage tonight.”

Ye Xiu’s head was pounding. Originally, I wanted Shen Songshan to pass false information to the Gun God, luring him to a location I’d set up for an ambush. But it seems the Gun God didn’t trust Shen Songshan and sent Ned to surveil the Shen Family instead. My plan is ruined. I need to find another way to locate the Gun God!

「Hongtai Nonwoven Fabric Factory」

Inside the factory manager’s office in the main building, Gun God Smith paced with his head bowed while three members of the Vulture Assassination Group cleaned their weapons.

”Master, what’s on your mind?” Salina asked.

”I just received an email from Ned. Apparently, Ye Xiu was at the Shen Family estate,” Smith replied.

The three members were stunned. ”What?” Salina asked. ”Is Ye Xiu in an open war with the Shen Family?”

”No. According to Ned, Ye Xiu was seen carrying two large sacks out, unobstructed,” Smith said.

Salina and the other two were confused. Ye Xiu and the Shen Family were enemies. If Ye Xiu had gone to their estate, Shen Songshan and Shen Qilin would never have just stood by. How could they have allowed Ye Xiu to simply walk out, carrying two large sacks?

Just then, Smith received an email from Shen Songshan: ”Gun God, this is Shen Songshan. I’ve discovered that Ye Xiu will be visiting Bao Longtu’s home this evening. You can set up an ambush near Bao Longtu’s house to snipe him.”
