Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 685, Fearless Shield

Translator: Silavin

This time, not only had multiple Level 100+ Players died, but even a Fifth Profession Player had perished.

All at once, those from Cherry Blossom Country became even more anxious.

This small island shrouded in black mist and filled with Monsters was simply too terrifying…

Not only that, but the previous round of Magic Crystal Cannon fire had not only killed the Mage Patriarch, but the other two shells had landed amongst the crowd, once again causing massive casualties to their forces.

The Sword Wielding Patriarch’s eyes widened in shock. He was not feeling angry about his Fellow Brother’s death. The four of them were all Kage Tenshi’s Disciples, and while they maintained good relations on the surface, in reality, they were merely superficial.

In fact, the Sword Wielding Patriarch had wished the Mage Patriarch to die sooner.

Because once he died, the Clan resources under his control would become vacant and be divided amongst the three remaining Patriarchs, falling into his hands.

But the key issue was that the Mage Patriarch had been killed right beside him. With the Mage Patriarch dead, the next one to die would very likely be him!

So, he was panicking.

“Master, what should we do!?” He flew back to Kage Tenshi’s side with his sword, as only being near Kage Tenshi could give him any sense of security now.

Such panicked emotions had not appeared since he had reached Level 100.

And now, despite being Level 120 and having undergone his Fifth Profession Change, they had appeared again.

The reason for this was that the Territory Defensive Measures on this small island were simply too terrifying.

The Magic Crystal Cannon roared again, though this time only two shells came over.

Lu Fan had not deployed the Legendary Grade Magic Crystal Cannon.

The energy consumed of a single Legendary Grade Magic Crystal Cannon shell was ten times that of the other Magic Crystal Cannons!

So this ultimate weapon only needed to be used against Fifth Profession Players.

For ordinary Players, Lu Fan really could not bear to use it.

Although the Magic Crystal Cannon’s energy supply was abundant, there was no point in wasting it, was there?

Even with just two ordinary Magic Crystal Cannons, it was enough to give these invaders a hard time.

Here, there was the Shadow Mist, various Shadow Monsters, and even Bosses, making all the invaders suffer, with casualties rapidly mounting.

All of this was witnessed by Kage Tenshi.

At this moment, more than half of the Players he had brought had been killed or wounded.

Ordinary Players were one thing, but even Level 100 Players, and even one of his four Disciples had been lost. He found it momentarily difficult to accept.

Originally, he had brought this mighty force with the intention of using overwhelming power to capture Lu Fan and make him obediently reveal the method for obtaining Giant Dragons.

At the same time, it was also to show off his strength to Extremistis Country’s true leader, Tangun. He hoped to force him to obediently leave Extremistis Country and not attempt to interfere with his annexation of this relatively resource-rich country.

But the result was that so many elite forces had been worn down by more than half.

If this continued, everyone would be lost here!

Kage Tenshi was enraged. Originally not planning to take action himself, he now knew he had no choice but to act.

“Yoshida, raise your Fearless Shield and protect everyone here.” Kage Tenshi’s voice was ice-cold, making anyone who heard it shiver with fear.

Among the Four Patriarchs, ‘Yoshida’ was an extremely burly middle-aged man.

Patriarch Yoshida, of the Yoshida Clan, wore a full suit of armour, clearly indicating he had a Heavy Armour Type Profession.

Among all of Kage Tenshi’s Disciples, he was considered the most loyal.

With Kage Tenshi’s command, he immediately flew out from beside Kage Tenshi to the very centre of the battlefield.

During his flight, Patriarch Yoshida retrieved an enormous shield from his inventory.

This shield appeared to be carved from ice crystal, crystal clear and transparent. It was clearly no ordinary item.

This was Patriarch Yoshida’s most precious equipment, called the Mystic Ice Turtle Shield, a Legendary Grade Equipment.

With it, Patriarch Yoshida had an ironclad defence. Even the other Four Patriarchs of his Level could do nothing against him.

After landing, Patriarch Yoshida raised the shield in his hands towards the sky.

“Fearless Shield!”

With his roar, the shield blazed with light, rippling outward like a halo.

This halo spread out flat, actually forming an enormous light shield that sheltered all the Players below.

Another two Magic Crystal Cannon shells came roaring over, seeking to claim their lives.

However, when the tremendously powerful Magic Crystal Cannon shells struck the light shield, they only created two ripples, like stones thrown into a lake.

The light shield remained solid. It looked as though even if the Magic Crystal Cannon continued bombarding it, it would hold firm.

After confirming he could withstand the Magic Crystal Cannon attacks, Patriarch Yoshida breathed a sigh of relief and said to Kage Tenshi. “Master, I can hold this position. But, my Fearless Shield will not last for too long. The urgent matter at hand is to quickly find that Dragon Tamer and kill him. Otherwise, if he keeps firing those cannons, even I won’t be able to protect our people for much longer.”

Kage Tenshi nodded, murderous intent already spreading.

“Don’t worry, hold your position. I’ll immediately go and slaughter him!”

With that, he glanced at the other two Patriarchs and Kage Mako, his meaning clear without words.

Kage Tenshi directly took to the air, flying using a Skill towards Lu Fan’s position. He was clearly intending for a swift resolution.

Lu Fan naturally had complete awareness of everything happening here.

Regarding their charging towards him, Lu Fan paid them no mind whatsoever.

Instead, he focused his attention on Patriarch Yoshida’s Fearless Shield.

[To block my Magic Crystal Cannons…] According to Lu Fan’s original plan, he was going to use the Magic Crystal Cannons and Monsters to slaughter the rest of their force until barely any remained.

But with the Fearless Shield deployed, it had directly blocked out his Magic Crystal Cannons. How could Lu Fan possibly be pleased by this result?

Originally, Lu Fan had been hesitating over whether to use a Legendary Grade Magic Crystal Cannon shot to test if he could directly break through this Fearless Shield. But then Lu Fan reconsidered. [Why should I have to go through the trouble?]

The Magic Crystal Cannon required an energy supply, and he had an even more formidable Territory Defensive Measures that did not require him to use up materials.

He was referring to none other than the Lightning Waterfall Overcast!

The Lightning Waterfall Overcast was very economical. When not in use, it would charge itself, taking approximately three days to reach full charge.

Usually when not in use, its energy just sat there, accumulating.

[Better to use it now to help me deal with these small fries.]
