Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 450: Entering the Dreamscape

Because of his connection with Shen Bingmiao, Lin Yu was well aware that Twenty was very strong.

Ranked seventy-seventh meant his strength surpassed that of ʼGood Nightʼ and ʼChrisʼ.

But judging from his performance just now, being pressed and beaten by Fern and Algae... this guyʼs strength didnʼt match his ranking.

Lin Yu didnʼt think there was a problem with the forumʼs ranking list, nor did he believe Fern and Algae possessed the strength to be on it.

Admittedly, dissociative identity disorder gave this guy two ʼSecond Tierʼ Classes, but they couldnʼt be used simultaneously.

Comparing him to the ʼThird Tierʼ player he knew best, ʼRobinʼ, with whom he had cleared two [dungeons], Lin Yu had no doubt that if it were Robin standing opposite them, she would probably have knocked Fern and Algae out by now.

So, even though Twenty might not be able to exert his full strength due to forcibly breaking into his dungeon...

Lin Yu was more inclined to believe he had been holding back all along.

This wasnʼt just because Twenty still hadnʼt pulled out his [Exclusive Item], but more because Lin Yu had witnessed Twentyʼs methods.

In Haicheng, he could infiltrate his dreams under the high alert of Li Hua and a group from ʼOrderʼ and the ʼHuntersʼ Associationʼ. In this [dungeon], he had hypnotized many players and NPCs into becoming his puppets.
Clearly, Twentyʼs methods were primarily ”dream”-based—even his little black cat was a ”Nightmare”!

Lin Yu didnʼt believe someone like that lacked the ability to forcibly pull others into dreams.

And Twentyʼs motive for holding back was also very sufficient.

From his conversation with his cat earlier, it wasnʼt hard for Lin Yu to conclude that commanding this cat came with various costs for Twenty.

Furthermore, there was another point.

Although Twenty initially mistook Fern for him, as time passed—especially after Algae appeared—Twenty probably also sensed something was off.

This guy was professional enough, so professional that even when he was almost beaten to death, he was still trying to discern whether the woman before him was the target of his investigation.

This reason could also explain why Twenty was now initiating ”entering dreams”.

Because he wanted to use the dream to confirm whether the person he was fighting was actually Lin Yu!

”Truly worthy of being ʼThird Tierʼ, the plan is already quite thorough, but unfortunately...”

Lin Yu rose from the darkness, feeling the coarse black sand beneath his feet.

The uneven grains like sea salt rubbed against the skin of his feet, the desolate wind cold and plaintive—everything here felt somewhat familiar to Lin Yu, even.

It was a great pity that Twenty probably never imagined that when he initiated the dream entry, Lin Yu was also nearby.

This ”dream” might ultimately have the decisive opposite effect for Twenty.

Of course...

that was provided Lin Yu operated correctly.

”Now is the time to test my acting skills.”

Lin Yu began to look around, quickly finding the light source again.

However, unlike the previous dilapidated wooden cabin, this time the light source seemed to come from a ”pit”.

”Hmm... different from the dream he pulled me into last time. I wonder if this is something he can actively manipulate.”

Lin Yu pondered, walking briskly towards the direction of the light source.

On the way, Lin Yu soon saw the expected figures.

Only the number... was beyond Lin Yuʼs expectations.

Two people walking side by side in the distance, the one on the left had her hair up in a bun, the one on the right had short hair.

And sitting on the shoulder of the right, short-haired one was a small child.

It looked like a warm, cozy family of three.

Lin Yu quickly approached, silently trying to blend in with them.

The right, short-haired one wore black shorts and a sleeveless tank top, their body looking quite sturdy, with a black mask covering their face, making it hard to tell their specific gender.

Their aura was like someone very popular with girls in a bar, though Lin Yu couldnʼt quite judge what kind of bar theyʼd frequent.

They looked at Lin Yu warily and spoke, ”Hey—who are you?”

Lin Yu looked back at them, ”And who are you?”

The other person frowned slightly, not answering.

Beside them, the one with hair in a bun, wearing a hoodie with batwing sleeves, a thin veil covering their face, possessing a somewhat feminine aura but also a hint of youthful boyishness, spoke playfully.

”Heʼs Algae, Iʼm Fern, the little one is Little Moss, hello there.”

The child who looked about seven or eight years old, wearing a full-face Sun Wukong plastic mask, gave Lin Yu a slight nod.

Fern, Algae, Moss...

Not only were they separate, but there was actually a third one?

This meant... at least in the ”Nightmareʼs” judgment, the dissociative identities were truly considered different individuals.

Could it be that this person really had multiple souls... which was why she obtained multiple ʼClassʼ abilities?

Did all cases of ”dissociative identity disorder” count like this, or was there something special about this person?

Lin Yuʼs thoughts swirled, but he still spoke expressionlessly.

”Oh, hello, my name is Grass.”

”Grass?”

Algae seemed puzzled, subtly exchanging a look with Fern as they both turned their gaze towards Moss.

However, Moss showed no reaction.

While the two were thinking, Lin Yu spoke up to interrupt them.

”Whatʼs the situation here, what happened? I just suddenly appeared here... really strange.”

”I remember I should have been fighting someone,” Algae rubbed his head, ”Donʼt know why I suddenly ended up here. Couldnʼt be that I got beaten to death, right?”

Fern also stroked his chin and said, ”Hmm, I didnʼt know what was happening at the time. Could it be we were hit by some spell? Were we teleported?”

”Itʼs a dream.”

Moss spoke softly, voice muffled, then fell silent.

Lin Yu immediately and naturally continued the conversation.

”So thatʼs it, itʼs a dream... no wonder.”

He pretended as if he had just realized this was a dream, muttering to himself, then looked towards the light source ahead.

”Shall we go there?”

”We plan to,” Algae said seriously, ”Because if this is a dream... I probably didnʼt fall asleep normally and start dreaming.”

”Probably some method used by the guy I was fighting.”

Lin Yu spoke again, ”Then letʼs go take a look there.”

He naturally also used the term ”we”.

”Though it feels like it might be a trap, I have no objections,” Fern analyzed, ”After all, even if it really is a trap... following the trap can also lead to ʼinformationʼ and ʼopportunitiesʼ.”

”Letʼs go.”

Moss said finally.

The group of three became four, continuing towards the light source.

Lin Yu walked behind Fern and Algae, feeling the ʼbeliefʼ emanating from them, and touched his face.

Although he hadnʼt said anything, he had already begun deceiving.

”The two older ones, even the ʼFraudsterʼ, believed it, but the youngest one didnʼt...”

Their glance towards ”Moss” just now also indicated something.

”Is this ʼMossʼ actually the primary personality?”
