Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 416: Questions and the Destination

Seeing the appearance of this stone-carved crowʼs head in an instant, even though Lin Yu had expected it, he couldnʼt help but sigh inwardly at this moment.

”How come youʼre everywhere!”

The traces of this God of Change were somewhat too numerous.

Last dungeon in the Misty Islands, he had just learned that the Misty Islands happened to be its territory, and that was fine...

But now theyʼve even reached the Black Marsh, how did this crow appear again?

Fortunately, Lin Yu recognized it;this thing should just be an ordinary [item] related to that crow.

Just like the [Banquet Pendant] and such—although also the work of the Banquet God, it doesnʼt necessarily carry the Banquet Godʼs will.

But since itʼs that crowʼs handiwork...

”Just now when taking it out, it said ʼcawʼ and ʼcaw cawʼ... Although the intervals were quite short, does that mean its first answer will be false and the second true?”

Lin Yu pondered, but didnʼt voice any hints to Fern.
After all, this is Fernʼs [item];Lin Yu had no reason to tell her how to use it correctly.

Moreover, Fern had just mentioned she was considering selling it—though he didnʼt know if she still had that thought after learning the ”basic correct usage method,” but if this thing entered the market, Lin Yu would be very willing to buy it.

So, this advanced usage technique wouldnʼt be shared with Fern.

And after Fern picked it up, she also began asking questions according to what Lin Yu had just said.

She gripped the stone-carved crowʼs head tightly and spoke in a low, devout voice.

”Respected Magical Crow Head, please tell me, what is my gender identity?”

The mouth of the stone crowʼs head opened and closed mechanically, spitting out two short syllables: ”Female!”

Lin Yu slightly furrowed his brow;could he have been mistaken? How could the first answer be true?

But unexpectedly, Fern nodded and spoke seriously.

”Oh, the answer to this question is false.”

Lin Yu was stunned;he looked at Fern.

The body outline revealed by the leather jacket and long pants she wore, even without looking at secondary sex characteristics, just looking at the bone structure and shoulder-to-hip ratio, this definitely didnʼt look like a biological male.

But if she was biologically female yet identified as male, that also didnʼt seem right... At least from her clothing and appearance, Lin Yu couldnʼt see any transgender traits.

Lin Yu almost blurted out the words ”What kind of transgender are you?”—but he held back.

After all, his current persona was Rakshasa...

Rakshasa obviously couldnʼt know such trendy human knowledge: judging by the current state of the Black Marsh, a world where most areas are still in primitive tribal and slave society forms, the novel concept of transgender hasnʼt yet been born.

Seeing Lin Yuʼs surprised look, Fern smiled sheepishly.

”My gender identity is a Walmart shopping bag.”

”What?”

Lin Yu spoke with astonished disbelief—this surprise required no acting, just genuine expression was enough.

Fern chuckled: ”Just kidding, but not entirely joking... because my self-identity is non-binary.”

”So saying itʼs a shopping bag isnʼt wrong;you can use any term other than male or female to refer to my gender.”

She said calmly, and Lin Yu felt somewhat shaken.

Although he had known such groups existed before, given how developed the internet is, and Lin Yu wasnʼt an elderly person without a smartphone.

But when such a person truly appeared before him, Lin Yu still felt somewhat surprised.

Then, Fern pointed at herself: ”Anyway, I can be any gender... this feeling makes me feel really good, that Iʼm free, changing.”

She said, then waved her hand: ”Ah, sorry, that was a bit oversharing;not everyone likes hearing people talk about these things.”

Lin Yu didnʼt offer an opinion, but couldnʼt help having a thought inwardly.

”Could it be that this person obtained that crow-related [item] because of this?”

After all, Fern had mentioned earlier that this [item] was obtained from the dungeon before last;in other words... Fern got a first-hand [item].

Whether it was an extra reward for clearing the [dungeon], or she obtained it through some collection method using the new [Encyclopedia] privilege unlocked at 『Second Tier』, from Lin Yuʼs perspective, he felt it could be a coincidence.

But more likely, that crow actively delivered this [item] into her hands.

After all, Lin Yu had seen that gods could influence what [items] players obtained.

And this crow stone carving seemed to be an [item] with very strong relevance to the God of Change.

Lin Yuʼs thoughts flowed while also sighing inwardly.

Playing ”Rakshasa” placed too many restrictions on him;if it were another persona, now would be a good opportunity to inquire about that crow.

However...

”Since I know this person is called ʼFern,ʼ I can just find a way to change identities and contact her after going out... Oh wait, should be ʼthemʼ.”

Lin Yu thought.

Meanwhile, Fern directly asked the second question.

”Since the first answer was false...”

”Respected Magical Crow Head, please use my current facing direction and standing position as a reference and tell me as precisely as possible, how far is the temporary convalescence area of the Glory Festival from me now, and in what direction relative to me?”

Fern asked with great precision.

Just hearing Fernʼs phrasing, Lin Yu couldnʼt help but sigh...

This person asked questions too methodically;it seemed she had been tricked by this crow head itemʼs wording before!

Come to think of it... it wouldnʼt really be his style if the related [items] produced by that God of Change didnʼt have some verbal traps.

But regardless, with Fernʼs such meticulous avoidance, the stone crow head could only answer very precisely and methodically.

”The convalescence area is currently located at 15 degrees to the right of your facing direction, straight-line distance approximately 4.3 kilometers.”

Although the statueʼs speech when answering had no tone, Lin Yu almost heard a somewhat helpless tone.

”Letʼs go, the location is locked now, we should head out quickly.”

Lin Yu patted Fernʼs shoulder.

”That thing probably changes location at dawn today, but going early has its benefits.”

He said, and Fern nodded.

”Thatʼs true,” she wiped the sweat from her forehead, exhaling the hot air from her lungs, ”and if fighting and conflict arenʼt allowed there... we can actually rest our feet peacefully, eat something, even take a short nap!”
