Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 444: The Two Sides in Battle

As for the fact that Twenty had mistaken him, although Lin Yu felt a bit surprised, he quickly realized this was also something that was very likely to happen in itself.

After all, from Twentyʼs perspective...

”May May” was definitely within this dungeon.

If he himself was ”Rakshasa,” then Twenty would have no choice but to find one person among the remaining eighteen players to treat as him.

To prevent Twenty from failing to find ”himself” and starting to have unnecessary suspicions about the player count, Lin Yu had specifically prepared ”Stiller,” disguised as himself, to give Twenty a ”slot” to fill.

Itʼs just that Twenty didnʼt take the bait, and instead, among the remaining players, he targeted...

Fern.

And judging from the objective conditions Fern displayed...

A player who habitually covers their face and has been constantly hiding their strength, whose appearance is female but whose behavioral patterns lack the general sense of femininity.

Moreover, her purpose for her actions is also very mysterious!
To be honest, if Lin Yu lost his memory and then had to guess who ”he himself” was in this dungeon, Lin Yu felt the possibility of him picking Fern was also quite high.

If you think about this person carefully, she is just too suspicious.

And...

Through Twentyʼs misjudgment, Lin Yu could also deduce something in reverse.

”This ʼDetectiveʼ on the rankings really has some skills... Since he mistook Fern for me, it should mean the progress of the information he currently grasps is probably about the same as ʼOrderʼ...”

”After all, the reason he was so certain in identifying Fern as me, on one hand, is also very likely because ʼFernʼ is pretending to be a ʼHunterʼ through deception.”

”This means he should possess intelligence about me having multiple Class Abilities, and might even have grasped a certain degree of my true identity.”

ʼOrderʼ knew these things because Lin Yu proactively revealed them to Li Hua.

As for Twenty being able to grasp these...

Lin Yu felt the other party should have ”deduced” them.

”Fine, heʼs employed by the ʼMarauders,ʼ so on the ʼMaraudersʼ side, this can further separate me from ʼHeavenly Artisanʼ while also boosting Heavenly Artisanʼs status and strength by contrast.”

The current track record of the identity Heavenly Artisan ”Chen Zhitie” within the ʼMaraudersʼ is being completely wiped out by ʼMay May.ʼ

But as ʼMay Mayʼsʼ achievements become more and more impressive, Lin Yu believed that one day, everyone would suddenly realize, rather than saying ʼHeavenly Artisanʼ was almost killed twice by ʼMay May,ʼ it would be more accurate to say...

This guy actually managed to escape with his life twice from ʼMay Mayʼsʼ pursuit and schemes!

Thinking of this, Lin Yu couldnʼt help but sigh to himself.

”Itʼs beneficial to establish connections between these identities earlier...”

As long as one personʼs value rises, the rest will also rise with the tide!

Now that the identity ʼMay May,ʼ which he primarily uses, is becoming more and more prominent, those benefiting are not only the few with good relations with ʼMay May,ʼ but also Heavenly Artisan, who is supposedly ”hostile,” is actually gaining advantages from this.

Fortunately, these people are essentially all Lin Yu himself, so this is a very standard case of keeping the benefits within the family.

But regardless, thatʼs all something for after this dungeon ends.

Whatʼs important right now is...

”Can Fern just directly kill this guy?”

Lin Yu looked at the off-balance Twenty in the air, feeling very expectant.

Even though Twenty was ʼThird Tier,ʼ and according to Shen Bingmiaoʼs intelligence, was also a figure on the rankings...

But what if?

People make mistakes, horses stumble, what if today is just Twentyʼs unlucky day.

As Lin Yu pondered, he saw Twenty adjust his posture and land on the ground.

This height posed no threat to Twenty.

He landed lightly on the ground.

But the instant he hadnʼt steadied himself, the ground cracked open again.

”Boom!”

Earth and stones exploded around him. Twenty slightly bent his knees to stabilize his stance, then clasped his hands together, condensing a mass of black fluid substance in front of him to block the flying earth and stones, which were even larger chunks than those in the air.

But those flying earth and stones were just a feint this time!

Behind the earth and stones, a long sword thrust towards his face. Twenty clumsily opened his clasped hands, transforming the fluid substance into a black net-rope in front of his chest to intercept.

”Swish--!”

The net-rope was severed by the long sword, then strangely reversed direction, grazing past Twentyʼs cheek at the side of his face and slicing open a bloody cut.

”Damn it!”

Twenty spat. At this moment, the black substance changed, pouncing towards the long sword.

The long sword was temporarily captured!

But right at this instant, Twenty felt a chill of danger assaulting him from the right rear.

”Swish!”

He sharply turned around, several inches of a knife plunging into his lower back.

”Hey, hello!”

Behind him, Twenty met Fernʼs icy gaze.

Only now did Twenty realize...

That long sword was actually released, flying in mid-air.

Behind the earth and stones, there was no one holding the sword hilt!

”Really quite treacherous,” Twenty said, clutching the blood welling from his lower back. ”This doesnʼt seem like the righteous style of ʼOrderʼ!”

”I was never a member of ʼOrderʼ to begin with,” Fern looked at him somewhat strangely, then mumbled as if asking Twenty or talking to herself, ”Huh, do you think I count as one?”

To Twenty, who was already somewhat prejudiced, this sentence did nothing to overturn his conclusion about ”Fern being Lin Yu.”

”Stop pretending, I already know, Fern is your alias.”

Fernʼs expression changed slightly.

”Is that so... Then it seems I really canʼt let you live.”

She wiped the long knife in her hand—this was what she and Lin Yu found together at the ”Healing Station” earlier.

Then, she also threw this long knife into the air.

”Hummm--!”

The long knife emitted a buzzing sound, and moments later, Fern threw out one knife and sword after another.

A full sixteen sharp blades, made of various metals like gold, iron, and bronze, with completely different styles, arranged themselves behind Fern. She formed a sword seal with her fingers and slowly pushed it forward.

The long sword that was just controlled by Twenty also trembled violently and returned to behind Fern.

”Using a western sword to perform sword control techniques, your East-West combination is indeed hard to guard against,” Twenty exhaled. ”I didnʼt expect you to have been to the Gray Domain!”

”Quite knowledgeable. Someone as knowledgeable and as treacherous as you, with puppet-like abilities, who are you? I canʼt recall for the moment,” Fern frowned and muttered, but soon, she quickly spoke up, ”Twenty, ah, right, right... You should be that crime consultant, the ʼDetectiveʼ Twenty, right!”

Twenty did not deny it: ”I thought you recognized me long ago.”

”You are not as famous as you imagine.”

As Fern spoke, Twenty looked up.

”So now that youʼve recognized me... you still choose to fight me?”

”It seems my reputation relies too much on ʼcleverness and intelligence,ʼ to the point that when people mention me, they donʼt seem to know much about my combat power.”

Fern looked at the otherʼs wound and spoke again.

”Judging by what I see now, you might not be as strong as you imagine either.”
