Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 432: Fooling the Genius, Cleaning Up the Mess

With the ”suicide” of the culprit ”Twenty,” the chaos on the scene...

continued.

This was, of course, within Lin Yuʼs expectations. After all, he was well aware that Twentyʼs ”true body” had not died.

Although Twenty had used this personʼs body and [items]—who was likely a member of the Psychological Society—to create the chaos here, Lin Yu could sense that Twenty did not care about this personʼs death.

Therefore, it wasnʼt hard for Lin Yu to guess... if Twenty had used this guy to create some kind of chaos, that chaos would absolutely not end with the ”death” of this executor.

”So, unlike the Divinerʼs type of permanent possession, which can even deceive the game to a certain extent, this should be some kind of temporary hypnosis that could potentially be broken...”

Lin Yu reasoned as he thought.

Furthermore, based on Twentyʼs attitude and the fact that he had encountered the other party so quickly...

”This guy definitely isnʼt Twentyʼs only ʼpuppet.ʼ”

Because Twenty was a clever fellow, the moves he made were absolutely the optimal solution.
For a hidden, manipulated puppet to be abandoned so easily likely meant...

The number of players Twenty could control was definitely plural.

Either he could immediately find another way to create a similar effect, or he had already dealt with several players!

After all, even though the difficulty of this [dungeon] was not low, for someone like Twenty who was ranked on the Top 100 list, it was still a case of overwhelming superiority.

At the same time...

From the perspective of probability, Lin Yu did not believe in coincidence.

His running into Fern could be explained: As a Fraudster, after obtaining the ”Healing Station” rule beneficial to herself, Fern would naturally also think to find the Healing Station as soon as possible.

In other words, Fern was originally on the path Lin Yu was taking to look for her when he ran into her—though there was a bit of luck involved, it wasnʼt an extreme coincidence.

However, encountering Stiller at the Healing Station, with Twenty just happening to be lurking in Stillerʼs team...

Lin Yu couldnʼt help but recall a saying.

When you see one mouse, thereʼs often already a nest hidden in the shadows.

There are a total of twenty players in this game...

”I need to be prepared for at least two or three other players also being controlled by ʼTwentyʼ...”

Lin Yu pondered.

Whether it was to complete the Promotion task, to clear the dungeon smoothly, or even considering being able to continue living a stable life after returning to reality, Lin Yu could not possibly ignore this Detective who was chasing him.

If possible...

”It would be best to find a way to make him stay here forever, within this [dungeon].”

Lin Yu let out a breath.

Even though the other party was Third Tier, because he had received his seniorʼs tip and was thus prepared against the unprepared, plus the chosen ”deception” was good enough, perhaps there really was a possibility of making the other party stay forever!

Moreover, the other party had already taken the bait.

Lin Yu could feel a powerful surge of belief coming from afar and falling into his body.

This belief most likely came from that ”Twenty.”

Even though Lin Yu hadnʼt even told him any information, based solely on the earlier dialogue between Stiller and Furnace Fire, Twenty had connected him to the Rakshasa.

”This is why I sometimes quite like these clever fellows, these self-proclaimed geniuses,” Lin Yu sighed. ”I just made a move against him and ʼexposedʼ some trivial information and clues, and he has already ʼdeducedʼ a reliable conclusion.”

Even though this conclusion was pre-set by Lin Yu, and in a sense, the other party had fallen into a trap...

But Lin Yu was clear that this trap the other party fell into was really one that only a smart person could fall into.

If one were even slightly duller or less confident, it would be impossible to generate this degree of belief.

Within this [dungeon]... this trap was almost tailor-made for Fern and Twenty.

And Twenty was too fast, so fast that Lin Yu felt somewhat reluctant to kill him within this [dungeon].

Naive guys like Chen Zhuo were certainly easy to use;you just needed to confuse them.

But clever fellows also had their advantages.

Sometimes, you didnʼt even need to make your story perfectly consistent;you just needed to release some traces, and they would chase shadows.

Although there was the risk of being seen through, if you could make them become accomplices in deceiving themselves, then their powerful logical thinking ability would even help Lin Yu patch up some of the rushed or manpower-limited loopholes in the deception.

”Anyway, letʼs first deal with the aftermath of this chaos at the Healing Station.”

Lin Yu stood up, moved away from the corpse, and looked towards Fern, who was already preparing to flee.

”What are you going to do?”

Amidst the chaos, Fern had already stuffed most of the Healing Stationʼs supplies into her backpack.

”When the ship is about to sink, of course you jump ship,” Fern said, looking at Lin Yu and sizing him up. ”Youʼre not affected either, right? Not planning to escape?”

”When that patrolling arbitrator gets here, Iʼm afraid itʼll be too late! Itʼs hard to reason with the folks from the Blood Kingdom!”

After a brief moment of thought, Fern still extended an invitation to Lin Yu.

After all, she had witnessed Lin Yuʼs strength and had already guessed that Lin Yu was not a player.

In Fernʼs assessment, Lin Yu was probably a very useful Enforcer ”NPC,” so of course she had to try to recruit him.

Lin Yu shook his head.

”Escaping wonʼt solve the problem. Moreover... this is the Glory Festival.”

And merely hearing this one sentence from Lin Yu, Fern actually stopped her action of packing supplies.

Because she heard the confidence in Lin Yuʼs voice.

Considering that Lin Yu was an NPC who could actively disguise himself as a player, this meant his rank was definitely not low.

Coupled with the strength Lin Yu had displayed earlier...

Fern asked, ”What do you plan to do?”

”End this farce here,” Lin Yu said lightly. ”So, I need you to help me.”

”End the farce here?”

Fern echoed.

”An interesting idea, but specifically how?”

”Just like when you assisted me in hunting before,” Lin Yu drew the skinning knife he had just obtained from Furnace Fire and the captured spear, ”Iʼll make them quiet down, and you just help with whatever means you can!”

Fern raised an eyebrow.

”Thatʼs really a proposal full of Glory Festival style. Logically speaking, if one were smart enough, running away now would be the best choice.”

”But... since you put it that way, sometimes being a bit foolish isnʼt so bad.”

”This isnʼt being foolish.”

Lin Yu reminded her again.

”I know, itʼs just high risk, high reward,” Fern said, pulling out a folding bow from her chest. ”Itʼs just that for me, ʼhigh riskʼ is being foolish!”

Even so, she still unfolded that folding bow and jumped onto a nearby platform, taking the high ground.

”Letʼs begin, Moro!”
