Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 404: The Glory Festival Begins! The First to Unleash Their Power!

”A more important mission?”

Upon hearing Lin Yuʼs description, Stiller was puzzled by this.

As a clone android, he had been designated for the ”security chief” position from birth, so although the training and education he received included various aspects such as assassination, expulsion, and investigation, Stillerʼs self-definition and self-perception had always been very clear: he himself was a security personnel!

Even when he became a team leader, even when doing dirty work for Paris, the essence did not change.

Therefore, Stiller found it hard to imagine why Lin Yu would say such a thing.

”Is there anything more important than protecting Directorʼs safety?”

He asked instinctively, and Lin Yu shook his head.

”Currently speaking, with my strength, I have absolutely no problem protecting myself in this dungeon.”

”In fact, if luck is good, there might even be some here that I can defeat—whether players or NPCs, even though Iʼm currently ʼFirst-Tier,ʼ Iʼm confident my strength is definitely not at the bottom.”

After all, Lin Yu had personally tested that burly man at the registration entrance just now... the other party looked like someone skilled in combat. Shen Bingmiaoʼs information mentioned that although the ”Glory Festival,” as the most important celebration, still carried the unreliable feeling unique to the Black Marsh realm, the participants were definitely all experienced hands or even experts from the various organizing forces, namely the ten major tribes.
Some were even among the top ten final warriors from the previous session.

Thatʼs why that burly man at the registration counter, when Lin Yu tested him, somewhat unexpectedly for Lin Yu, wasnʼt pulled to the ground by him.

But whether he was a core member of the ten major tribes or an outstanding performer from the previous session, Lin Yu had already tested it out...

With his current combat power combined with [items], he could handle it.

Ultimately, itʼs still because the freely obtained ʼSoldierʼ ability is just too good.

Combined with other buffs, this ”Glory Festival” really isnʼt too difficult.

Old Zheng also echoed Lin Yu: ”Well said, thatʼs exactly the kind of momentum we need! Based on my past research, self-confidence really does affect a personʼs abilities in all aspects! In the ʼDeath Game,ʼ confidence is equally important!”

”Stiller, donʼt worry, although I donʼt know what mission this kid has for you, I believe in his judgment!”

Old Zheng put on a resolute appearance of supporting Lin Yuʼs decisions.

In contrast, Hannah, this time, unusually didnʼt immediately follow Lin Yu, but instead expressed some concern: ”Ribbit! But Director, this event is indeed filled with violence, so we should still be careful!”

”What exactly is the more important mission you want to give Stiller?”

Stiller also nodded curiously: ”Yes, Director, what exactly do you need me to do?”

”I need you to wander around inside for a while later,” Lin Yu said calmly, ”Just act like an ordinary contestant, hunt some beasts, fight other contestants as appropriate, prioritize ensuring you donʼt die... Iʼll also lend you some of my [items].”

Hearing Lin Yuʼs arrangement, before Stiller could react, Hannah questioned it first.

”That doesnʼt sound necessary either?”

Even Old Zheng switched sides.

”To be honest, your arrangement is indeed a bit unclear in its meaning.”

With these two paving the way, Stiller, who originally at Paris would directly execute orders even if they felt strange, finally hesitated for a moment before choosing to ask again.

”Whatʼs the purpose of doing this?”

”This is part of my ʼtrapʼ... Well, to ensure this scheme can proceed smoothly, because your acting isnʼt very good, and itʼs known that thereʼs at least one somewhat smart guy in this dungeon, so the reason youʼre doing this, and the most crucial ʼoperationʼ you need to perform, Iʼll explain to you later.”

Lin Yu said with a smile: ”For now... itʼs better for you to maintain this confused state.”

Stiller nodded, half-understanding, his nature of obeying orders regaining the upper hand.

”I understand.”

And since Stiller himself had already agreed, Old Zheng and Hannah naturally couldnʼt say much more.

After this brief exchange, the dense forest was now completely enveloped in night.

The sky was pitch black, the sun had completely sunk below the horizon.

Meanwhile, the bright white moon had climbed and hung in mid-air.

The dappled moonlight was like sifted flour, partially blocked by the intertwined branches of the dense forest overhead, partially leaking down.

When, through the gaps in the tree shadows, they glimpsed the bright moon reaching the height directly overhead...

”Woooo—!”

A heavy horn sound rang out from the center, as if from ancient times.

Lin Yu could feel his body trembling slightly, as if the beating heart in his chest resonated with this long horn sound.

Even without prior notification, Lin Yu now had a faint judgment in his heart.

This was probably the ”signal to begin.”

Sure enough, amidst the prolonged horn sound, those intertwined thorn walls began to slowly ”unfold and loosen,” then gradually retreated into the ground.

”Quite magical indeed.”

Lin Yu clicked his tongue in amazement as he watched this scene.

”Beastkin witchcraft. Beastkin are very good at altering the life forms of plants and beasts, twisting their shapes and states to achieve their goals,” Old Zheng calmly explained, ”Although the Blood Kingdom and the Three Mounds Kingdom donʼt get along well, as long as thereʼs payment, the Beastkin will help.”

The horn sound gradually ceased, all the steel-like vines and thorns had mostly returned underground, leaving only a ”base” about the height of roadside greenbelt shrubs and roughly over a meter wide.

Lin Yu nimbly jumped over, and upon hearing the horn sound end, a new voice sounded.

”Warriors, welcome to this sessionʼs ʼGlory Festivalʼ!”

A voice, deep and resonant in timbre, sounding like it came from some tough guy, echoed between the earth and sky.

”I am the referee for this session, the throne guard of the Bronze Casting Tribe, former champion warrior, Jiang Rong!”

”This sessionʼs ʼGlory Festivalʼ is the same as before, ten days, no restrictions, just fight, fight, and fight!”

”Loot can be collected, or snatched!”

”Beasts can be killed, contestants can be killed—even I, the ʼreferee,ʼ can be killed!”

”There are only three rules to slightly restrain your behavior!”

”One, before ten days are up, do not flee or retreat—in short, donʼt be a coward!”

”Two, cooperation is allowed, but bribery is strictly prohibited—do not tarnish the glory!”

”Three, random healing spots will appear daily, providing medicine, food, and water, absolutely no fighting allowed inside!”

”Thatʼs all!”

After he finished speaking, Lin Yu sighed: ”Sure enough, simple and crude.”

After that voice finished, it suddenly sounded again.

”Oh, wait... this session also has special rules!”

”For the first three days, the healing spots will provide standard weapons and armor for individual contestants, first come, first served!”

Hearing this hastily added clause, Lin Yu narrowed his eyes.

”Someone with a ʼRule Typeʼ has activated their ability... seems like a modification and expansion of the third rule, is it an ʼOfficialʼ?”
