Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 419: Disguise

Just as Lin Yuʼs words fell, the voice of the furnace fire also rang out.

”So, youʼre choosing a knife? I think a knife suits you very well!”

Faced with the flameʼs praise and Lin Yuʼs somewhat wary questioning, Fern put down the straight sword a little awkwardly.

”Well, I did learn how to use cold weapons by chance in a dungeon in Prison Mountain. There are many such opportunities over there.”

She explained, then hurriedly spoke again.

”Ah, speaking of which, Moro, do you prefer using spears?”

”Not really, I rarely use weapons,” Lin Yu replied casually. ”The spear was something I captured.”

As he spoke, he casually selected a short knife from the box that looked well-suited for skinning and boning.

”This one.”

Lin Yu didnʼt even test the knife before tucking it into the back of his waist—the animal hide coat already had a place reserved for hanging a knife.
After doing this, he didnʼt continue questioning Fern. Instead, he turned to look at the face formed by the flames.

”Are we the first to come collect these weapons?”

He had noticed that the lock on this box had only just been opened.

A haughty expression appeared on the fiery face. ”Of course, you young fool.”

Lin Yu looked thoughtfully at Fern and said, ”Then letʼs do as you said earlier and rest.”

But for some reason, Fern seemed a bit hesitant now.

”Um, but didnʼt that fire just say that those who arenʼt injured shouldnʼt stay here?”

”His words donʼt matter. The rules say no fighting;he canʼt take any coercive measures against us,” Lin Yu said flatly. ”Besides, this guy isnʼt hard to deal with.”

”And, since weʼre the first to collect these, why not wait and see who comes next.”

Fern was a little curious. ”Why do that?”

”I find the change in the rules strange. Now I can confirm that these supplemental rules have nothing to do with the ʼenforcerʼ here,” Lin Yu said calmly. ”So I can only look for clues among the ʼbeneficiaries.ʼ The answer might be among them.”

After Lin Yu finished speaking, he noticed Fern seemed to have something to say but was holding back.

But in the end, Fern just nodded.

”Alright, alright, friend. I could really use some rest time too.”

The flames started shouting again. ”Cowards! You two who have tarnished the Glory Festival! Youʼve both taken your rewards, you should go out and fight!”

”Why are you shamelessly discussing rest here?”

”Get out of here! Most of the guys lying here have suffered absolutely crippling injuries! How can you have the nerve?!”

But just as Lin Yu had said, this guy could only condemn, and condemn was all he could do.

After several rounds of noisy clamor, it couldnʼt actually do anything, only making ferocious expressions in the furnace.

After deciding to stay, Fern spoke up again.

”But, since weʼre staying to observe secretly, shouldnʼt we be a little more ʼdiscreetʼ?”

”If weʼre too conspicuous, maybe we wonʼt get good surveillance results—just like the furnace said, most of the guys here are seriously injured.”

”The two of us lying here completely unharmed is just too obvious.”

Lin Yu looked at Fern and asked curiously, ”So what should we do? Should I injure you now?”

Fern quickly waved her hands. ”Donʼt think of such extreme solutions! I mean, maybe we can disguise ourselves!”

As she spoke, Fern pulled out something from her bosom that looked very much like ”makeup props.”

”I just happen to have an item for ʼmakeup,ʼ” Fern said mysteriously. ”Although we canʼt do anything about severed limbs, we can paint some pretty scary external wounds.”

Saying this, she directly unzipped her leather jacket.

*Zzzip!*

Lin Yuʼs eyebrow twitched;he almost instinctively wanted to turn around.

*Is it okay to be this unrestrained just because thereʼs no clear gender identity?*

Even though she was wearing a sports tank top underneath, Lin Yu still felt it was a bit of an assault on his relatively conservative sensibilities.

If it werenʼt for maintaining his persona, Lin Yu would definitely have taken the initiative to avoid the situation.

Seeing Lin Yuʼs reaction, Fern spoke up, sounding quite surprised. ”Oh, such a calm reaction, Moro... Youʼre not part of a minority group too, are you?”

Lin Yu barely managed to suppress the twitch at the corner of his mouth.

*So this person knows her behavior would cause a strong reaction in others.*

But he could only speak relatively calmly.

”What minority group.”

Fern chuckled. ”Nothing!”

With that, she sat on the ground by herself and began using the ”props” at hand to paint on her abdomen.

These ”makeup props” werenʼt ordinary cosmetics like eyeshadow palettes or foundation, but more like a special effects makeup kit for a movie set!

Glue, paint, latex, carving knives, brushes...

It was less like ”makeup” and more like painting and sculpting.

Soon, a hideous, gaping ”wound” that seemed to reveal internal organs appeared on Fernʼs abdomen.

Even the worldʼs top special effects makeup artists couldnʼt create such realistic makeup in such a short time.

”Some kind of high-quality makeup prop set?”

Looking at the items in Fernʼs hands, Lin Yu made a judgment.

Fern was probably able to paint so quickly because of the effects of these props.

For a moment, Lin Yu even felt a flicker of greed.

But quickly, Lin Yu suppressed the thought that had surfaced.

”With [False Face] and [Counterfeit], something like this isnʼt really needed.”

”Thereʼs no need to cause unnecessary trouble and make enemies over this, especially since this [dungeon] is already very difficult for me.”

Besides, for now, this Fern person was quite useful.

After driving away these thoughts, Fern finished her work.

She clapped her hands and checked herself.

”The appearance is perfect. Next, I just need to borrow some blood!”

Saying this, Fern ran over to a severely wounded patient—it was a Barbarian whose entire body was covered in fine, densely packed lacerations.

Even though he was bandaged and most wounds were covered with herbal medicine, he was still continuously oozing blood.

It seemed some kind of magical force was preventing those wounds from healing.

Fern walked over, directly tore open the bandages on the Barbarianʼs body, ignored the pained howl he let out even in his coma, and used her hand to smear the blood around her own abdomen.

The furnace fire shrieked. ”What are you doing?! What blasphemous behavior is this?!”

Lin Yu, however, had no objection. He just looked at Fern and spoke again with interest.

”I have to remind you, although your disguise is ingenious... how are you going to deal with that furnace?”

”Even though fighting is forbidden here, it can expose you.”

Fern spoke with utter nonchalance.

”Donʼt worry, Moro. I have a way to make it shut up.”
