Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 40: Raking in Cash! The Mysterious Organization Appears!

With Tycoonʼs help, Lin Yu had originally planned to set up a stall and sell items slowly throughout the night, but now everything was sold out in one go.

Of course, even without Tycoonʼs intervention, given how hot the sales were earlier... Lin Yu would have sold out quickly anyway.

But Lin Yu knew this was Tycoon helping him out!

After all, as an unknown newcomer suddenly offering a bunch of low-priced items, he could easily attract unwanted attention!

By selling everything to Tycoon in one go...

Lin Yu had effectively minimized the attention on himself.

Moreover, Tycoonʼs immediate payment also saved Lin Yu a lot of trouble.

15 telescopic batons and 20 potions totaled 775 forum points!

True to his word, Tycoon completed the entire transaction in RMB!

For this purpose, Tycoon even specially invited Lin Yu to the second floor.
The restaurantʼs second floor had been remodeled by Tycoon into a luxurious office!

”We meet again, kid.”

Tycoon smiled as he looked at Lin Yu.

”So you did recognize me.”

As the saying goes, you donʼt hit a smiling face—even though Lin Yu remained wary of Tycoon, he still responded politely.

Tycoon waved his hand.

”Didnʼt recognize you at first, but kid, youʼre too green... These telescopic batons start at 30 points in Jiangcheng! You brought out over ten and priced them at 10 points each!”

”Then I remembered your reckless approach yesterday, felt like the same person... Got closer and hey, the build matched too!”

”Sent a message and confirmed it was you.”

As Tycoon spoke, Lin Yu smiled: ”No choice, even after reading the forum guides, thereʼs still much I donʼt understand.”

”True enough, youʼre a genuine rookie who just cleared your first round,” Tycoon sighed. ”But damn kid, you got over ten batons and twenty potions from one round, plus you had a pistol yesterday... What, was your first round some bonus stage?”

”Just got lucky.”

Lin Yu answered vaguely.

Seeing this, Tycoon burst out laughing: ”Look how scared you are... Relax, if youʼve read the forum you should know—I, ʼTycoon,ʼ can organize and oversee Jiangchengʼs offline gatherings because my reputation is solid!”

”Even if my reputation wasnʼt solid... I wouldnʼt care about your small potatoes!”

With that, Tycoon picked up his phone.

”Transfer received: 70,000 yuan!”

Lin Yuʼs phone announced the notification.

He froze.

”70,000 yuan, just like that?!”

Tycoon waved his hand again and pulled out a paper bag.

”Hereʼs another 7,500 in new bills—take it. Saw your shoes and clothes yesterday, standard stuff. Young guy like you, first time making this much money?”

”Having some fresh bills to count at home feels nice.”

Tycoon said with a smile.

Lin Yu took the heavy paper bag and quietly stored it in his backpack.

”Thanks... Youʼre pretty observant.”

Lin Yu felt somewhat helpless.

Holding this thick stack of new bills did feel more satisfying than the digital transfer.

”Iʼll head out then... Really appreciate your help.”

After thanking and bidding farewell, Lin Yu turned and left the second floor.

This ”Tycoon” uncle was being unusually kind to him.

If they werenʼt in Jiangcheng but a southwestern city, if the man didnʼt seem so straight, if there wasnʼt that golden wedding ring on his right ring finger... Lin Yu might have suspected the man was attracted to his handsome looks.

But precisely because he couldnʼt figure out the reason, Lin Yu grew more puzzled.

”Why exactly is this happening?”

After Lin Yu left...

Tycoon also stood up and walked to the window, quietly watching as Lin Yu exited the gatheringʼs restaurant without looking back.

From a door inside the office emerged a tall, burly man with dark skin.

”Boss, why are you so invested in this kid?”

”Sure, itʼs rare for a newcomer to have so many items at once, but not enough for you to pay this much attention, right?”

Tycoon shook his head.

”I can sense it—this kid has an aura, one very similar to mine!”

”His future is limitless, a rough gem worth my investment!”

Tycoon declared firmly, but the dark-skinned man wasnʼt convinced.

”Cut the crap boss... Since when were you good at judging people? Whatʼs the real reason?”

Tycoon sighed helplessly.

”Fine. When this kid came yesterday, he showed me a business card with our address... I recognized it as the handiwork of the ʼPsychological Societyʼ—heʼs someone chosen by the ʼPsychological Societyʼ! And likely at the highest selection level!”

”The ʼPsychological Societyʼ?!”

The dark-skinned man gasped, his expression turning grave: ”Doesnʼt that mean... as long as this kid doesnʼt die young, heʼll at least reach ʼThird Tierʼ?”

Tycoon nodded slowly.

”Exactly. And his ʼprofessionʼ probably isnʼt weak either!”

”No matter how lucky you are, you canʼt possibly get that many common items from just one beginnerʼs round!”

......

The departed Lin Yu knew nothing of Tycoonʼs evaluation.

Since things ended early, it wasnʼt too late now.

Currently, Lin Yu was brimming with excitement from his earnings.

”Should I buy something for my sister on the way back?”

After all, many malls in Jiangcheng were still open at this hour.

But besides excitement...

Lin Yu was also curious.

What exactly did that ”junior girl” who killed him and left the business card want?

Was it just to guide him to the gathering and quickly integrate into Jiangchengʼs local player circle?

Before leaving, he had circled the restaurant inside and out again—even with everyone masked, Lin Yu didnʼt spot anyone resembling his murderer.

Neither the build nor the aura matched.

Just as Lin Yu was deep in thought...

Laughter sounded behind him.

”Hehehe... Not bad, Lin Yu. As expected of someone we chose.”

”Not only did you clear your first round smoothly—you even made such a splash at your first auction!”

”Your potential truly is immeasurable.”

Lin Yu turned to see a figure clad entirely in black, face completely covered, emerging from a nearby alley.

The personʼs voice was hoarse, as if deliberately speaking in a lowered tone.

”Who are you?!”

Lin Yu demanded coldly.

Hearing the question, the figure chuckled raspily.

”Heh, who I am isnʼt important...”

”But I can tell you that Iʼm from the same organization as the pretty girl who sent you into the Death Game and left you that business card.”

”Weʼre both members of the ʼPsychological Societyʼ!”
