Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 35: Ways to Make Money!

”So thatʼs how it works.”

After reading this ”Beginnerʼs Guide,” Lin Yu felt he had gained a much clearer understanding of the Death Game!

Due to his Fraudster profession, every bit of knowledge Lin Yu acquired about the game translated into genuine strength.

”What a shame I donʼt know how Promotion works yet—otherwise I might be able to impersonate even more powerful experts!”

Lin Yu sighed inwardly.

After finishing the beginnerʼs guide, he downloaded several other strategy articles and studied them carefully.

Soon, Lin Yu grasped many aspects of the Death Game beyond just gameplay.

For example...

The upcoming ”gathering”!

Just as Uncle Harmony Brings Wealth had mentioned, gatherings were inseparable from this forum.
You could earn ”forum points” through trading.

These ”forum points” served as hard currency because they could initially be used to post ”bounties” on the forum—whether hiring someone to carry you through dungeons or purchasing information, everything could be paid with points!

The forum itself even offered a service to exchange points for RMB at a rate of 1 point to 100 RMB!

However, players couldnʼt acquire points by ”topping up with RMB.”

Aside from obtaining points from others, the only ways to get points from the forum officially were by publishing ”valuable” posts or completing ”missions” issued by the forum!

The bounty board contained many such missions and targets posted by forum administrators.

Lin Yu felt these matters were still too distant for him and didnʼt delve deeper.

His main focus remained on the gathering itself!

Different cities had different gathering locations.

These gatherings werenʼt organized by the forum officially—most were hosted by local organizations within cities. After receiving official forum certification, they could be published and promoted through the forum.

Of course, there were also unofficial small-scale gatherings not recognized by the forum...

But whether these were safe or worth attending depended entirely on playersʼ own judgment.

While those who committed murder or robbery through such means would supposedly be blacklisted by the forum and possibly hunted by an organization called ”Administrators”...

For victims whoʼd already lost their lives, posthumous punishment held little meaning!

Fortunately, the address Lin Yu had received was indeed a certified ”official gathering point” in their Jiang City.

The listed information matched perfectly.

It even included details about the gatheringʼs organizer—someone called ”Tycoon.”

Lin Yu had a strong hunch this ”Tycoon” was the same uncle whose WeChat ID was ”Harmony Brings Wealth.”

”Gotta admit, that name suits his ʼvibeʼ perfectly...”

Lin Yu muttered to himself.

After finishing all these guides...

Lin Yu fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Lin Yu woke up refreshed.

Although he had two general education classes today, Lin Yu—whoʼd never been interested in ”College Student Entrepreneurship Guidance”—took the whole day off to stay home studying more guides.

After careful consideration, an idea took shape in Lin Yuʼs mind.

A plan to make money at this gathering and compensate his sister Lin Zhao!

”Since this game already exists and my life canʼt return to its previous peace...”

”Then I might as well use it to earn some money and improve our living conditions!”

Lin Yu exhaled firmly, his expression resolute.

The simplest way to ”make money” was selling items at the gathering!

After all...

When entering Death Game dungeons, you couldnʼt bring anything from reality—not even an entire armory!

Experiments had shown that besides the clothes on your back, almost nothing could be taken in.

Hair clips were about the limit...

Food, water, stationery, lighters—nothing in your pockets could be brought inside.

Even clothing had restrictions—wearing bulletproof vests or obviously functional gear might get you stripped naked upon entry!

Thus, items held tremendous value in this game.

Imagine being in a survival-type dungeon where ”finding food” was the main challenge...

If Lin Yu had stockpiled bread and water from the beginner dungeon beforehand, wouldnʼt that drastically reduce the difficulty for him?!

Not to mention various weapon-type items that could significantly boost combat effectiveness.

Even though there were many Enhancement-type professions, most were like the Otakuʼs minor boosts.

Professions like Soldier that dramatically improved ”frontline combat power” were highly sought after by all major organizations!

For other profession holders wanting to increase ”combat capability,” items remained the best option.

Lin Yu knew this firsthand.

His Guaranteed-Hit Revolver gave him immense confidence.

Without it, he wouldnʼt have dared investigate that address alone yesterday!

”So even a decent-quality item like a sharp firewood chopper could easily sell for over a hundred points...”

Over a hundred points...

That translated to tens of thousands in real cash!

With luck meeting players urgently needing weapons, you might even fetch hundreds of thousands!

Thinking this, Lin Yu couldnʼt help feeling regret.

That first dungeon had contained so many exquisite werewolf weapons...

What a shame heʼd brought out so few!

Lin Yu wasnʼt foolish enough to consider selling his most reliable trump card—the Guaranteed-Hit Revolver.

Though based on auction records mentioned in forum posts, this item might be worth over a million!

But Lin Yu had no intention of selling it.

Making money was important... but not at the cost of his life.

As for the Lie Detector...

Not only would this item likely not fetch a high price, more importantly...

It synergized perfectly with Lin Yuʼs Fraudster abilities.

When driven to desperation by that madman Yu Longguo in the beginner dungeon, being able to reverse fate through deception and achieve Rewind partly relied on this miraculous lie detector helping him turn his least believable statement into an unquestioned ”truth” through technique!

Even if it became obsolete later, Lin Yu wouldnʼt simply sell off this ”meritorious servant”!

With these two items off the selling block...

Lin Yu still refused to abandon this money-making opportunity at the gathering!

Heʼd already conceived a brilliant plan!
