Chapter 37: Fraud in Reality! Fake Items Become Real!

Under the guidance of the two girls, Lin Yu quickly found Chen Zhuoʼs location.

”He was just taken to the first-floor restroom by some boys from our class!”

Returning from the playground to the main teaching building, Lin Yu hadnʼt even reached the boysʼ restroom when he heard loud commotion coming from inside.

”You think youʼre hot shit now?”

”Asked you to buy a drink, why so difficult?”

”Donʼt know what youʼre acting all high and mighty about!”

Peeking inside, Lin Yu saw Chen Zhuo cornered in the restroom by four boys.

Chen Zhuo crouched on the floor, silently covering his head as the boys kicked and punched him, throwing water-soaked toilet paper at his head. He looked utterly miserable.

”School bullying,” Lin Yu muttered, feeling a surge of anger.

Heʼd always despised this kind of behavior where the strong preyed on the weak.
”Hey, stop that!” Lin Yu entered the restroom, and the four boys immediately turned around.

Seeing Lin Yu appeared older than high school age, they quickly scattered, putting on fake smiles.

”Teacher, we were just playing around!”

Lin Yu glared coldly at them, adopting a stern tone. ”Which class are you from?”

The four tall boys wearing expensive sneakers exchanged uneasy glances before bolting out the door.

Lin Yu didnʼt stop them, letting them escape. After all, he was here under false pretenses.

Then he turned to Chen Zhuo, who looked up at him, blinking away water droplets from his face.

”Game Master, how did you find me here?”

Lin Yu shrugged. ”Iʼm the Game Master, of course I have my ways.”

Chen Zhuo patted his soiled clothes as he stood up, looking somewhat awkward.

Seeing his wretched state, Lin Yu sighed. ”Why not fight back?”

”Even if you used to take it... after participating in the Death Game, weʼve all ʼdied onceʼ already. Why not be braver?”

Chen Zhuo looked embarrassed. ”Fighting back is useless. I really canʼt take on four of them... Game Master, youʼre handsome and probably get good grades. You wouldnʼt understand.”

”This kind of thing... resisting doesnʼt help.” Chen Zhuo spread his hands helplessly. ”Itʼs already second year of high school. Just endure a bit longer.”

”If Iʼd gotten the Soldier ability, Iʼd definitely fight back... but unfortunately, my profession is just Otaku.”

”Though having a profession is better than nothing. My recovery speed after beatings has improved!” Chen Zhuo optimistically pointed to his reddened bruises that were visibly fading.

Lin Yu pondered Chen Zhuoʼs words before speaking. ”The Death Game gives you more than just professions—there are items too.”

”What if you had powerful items that could give you overwhelming strength?”

Chen Zhuo blinked, then his gaze hardened. ”If I had items like that, no way Iʼd let people bully me!”

Lin Yu nodded approvingly. ”Good... then wait a moment.”

Turning to his backpack, Lin Yu pulled out a telescopic baton and a delicate glass bottle containing light blue liquid.

”These are the Baton item and Agility Potion item.”

”The former is self-explanatory—just a baton that can be stored in your item space, no different from regular ones.”

”As for this Agility Potion... after drinking, it greatly enhances your reflexes and movement speed for one hour.”

Lin Yu pressed both items into Chen Zhuoʼs hands. Chen Zhuo looked stunned.

”Huh? Game Master, whatʼs this for?”

Lin Yu patted Chen Zhuoʼs shoulder. ”A gift from me as Game Master. See if you can use them—there should be descriptions popping up.”

As Lin Yu spoke naturally, he felt something—

Belief power was emerging from Chen Zhuo.

Then, Lin Yuʼs earlier words became reality once more!

This was Lin Yuʼs first time activating his Fraudster ability in the real world.

Chen Zhuo looked amazed as the baton and potion disappeared into his palms.

”Itʼs real... Game Master, thank you for your generosity!”

Lin Yu nodded slightly and pointed outside. ”Go on, Chen Zhuo... now that you have power, do what you want to do.”

Chen Zhuo nodded solemnly, summoning the baton and potion again.

He unscrewed the potion and drank it all. ”Blueberry flavor? Tastes pretty good!”

Tossing the bottle aside, he suddenly felt surging energy throughout his body.

Seeing Lin Yuʼs expectant gaze, Chen Zhuo grew even more determined!

Gripping the baton, he charged out of the restroom with a roar. ”Hey, you guys!”

Lin Yu remained in the restroom, elegantly washing his hands while listening contentedly to the chaotic sounds of fighting and shouting outside.

Of course, both the baton and ”potion” were fakes—the former bought from a discount store, the latter homemade with food coloring and flavoring.

This was exactly why Lin Yu had sought out Chen Zhuo—to test whether deceiving someone could activate his Fraudster ability to turn fake items into ”real” ones.

After all, if he tried this at a gathering, experienced players might spot his counterfeit goods immediately!

But with a newbie like Chen Zhuo, it was different.

Now the experiment proved... it worked perfectly!

And coincidentally helped Chen Zhuo deal with his bullies too.

Lin Yu was extremely satisfied.

A few minutes later, Lin Yu exited the restroom to find Chen Zhuo leaning against the wall, panting heavily.

The four tall bullies lay on the ground in pain, looking at Chen Zhuo in disbelief—the usually clumsy chubby kid had just dodged and struck with impossible speed, beating them mercilessly.

Now holding the baton, Chen Zhuo looked down at them coldly.

”Used to let you off easy, but today was the last straw... from now on, youʼd better stay out of my way!”

With that, Chen Zhuo quickly approached Lin Yu, his expression sincere again.

”Thank you... Game Master bro, that felt amazing just now!”

”But giving me potions and items like that... wonʼt it violate rules?”

Lin Yu waved dismissively. ”Not at all. Those were my personal items. Giving them to you is normal player behavior, unrelated to being Game Master.”

Opening his backpack, Lin Yu revealed more batons and bottles inside.

”Iʼve got plenty more little items like these!”
