Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 15: Emergency Meeting! Is Lin Yu the Werewolf?!

Based on the premise that ”there are only two humans and five werewolves,” Lin Yu derived a new deduction...

There are two ways for humans to win this game.

One is to mislead the werewolves into mistakenly voting out their own werewolf teammates while believing theyʼre voting for humans.

The other method is...

Hunting down the werewolves in the game.

Just as the rules never explicitly stated that ”werewolves are outsiders”...

Although the game constantly emphasizes that werewolves are ”more powerful” and ”have weapon crates,” the rules never specified...

That humans must always be the ”prey.”

Xia Yue feared ”exposing” her identity as a werewolf, but Lin Yu feared her exposure even more!

Because once Xia Yue was exposed, not only would Lin Yu lack ”four human teammates” to vote with him...
It might also make other werewolves realize the discrepancy in their numbers!

Thus, Lin Yu had no choice but to kill Xia Yue here.

He stood up from the ground, looking at Xia Yueʼs corpse and the blood splattered on himself, then dry-heaved while gripping the railing for support.

”Ugh—”

Afterwards, noticing from the corner of his eye the furtive, short figure spying on him from the third-floor stairwell corner disappear, Lin Yu instantly stopped his ”performance of being nauseous after killing for the first time.”

”So ʼThiefʼ Yao Zhengye is also a werewolf.”

”That means my teammates can only be either Chen Zhuo or Xu Xiumei.”

He wiped the blood off his dagger expressionlessly on his sleeve and turned toward the first floor.

Of course, his heart wasnʼt completely calm.

No matter how much he consoled himself with thoughts like ”this is to survive,” ”Xia Yue attacked first,” or ”sheʼs already dead”...

This was still murder—committing murder with his own hands.

Yet it was precisely these turbulent emotions that made Lin Yu realize one thing with absolute clarity:

He wanted to survive!

To stand on stage again, to become an outstanding theater actor, to deliver soul-stirring performances...

And to uncover why that inexplicable ”junior” wanted to kill him!

Even if it meant killing, he wouldnʼt hesitate.

Lin Yu descended the stairs, sheathing the dagger at his waist and hiding it beneath his British-style coat.

Just as he reached the first floor, Lin Yu bumped into Chen Zhuo and Xu Xiumei emerging from the dining room.

Meeting Lin Yu again, Chen Zhuo remained highly vigilant.

But this time, he seemed slightly more confident and initiated conversation:

”Hey, Lin Yu, why are you alone? Whereʼs Xia Yue?”

Lin Yu spread his hands: ”I donʼt know... We got separated. Iʼm looking for her too!”

”If you see her, tell her to meet me on the first floor.”

As Lin Yu spoke, Chen Zhuo frowned.

”Separated? How?!”

But Lin Yu ignored him and hurried away.

Soon after, he heard Chen Zhuo leading Xu Xiumei upstairs.

Lin Yu exhaled and headed toward the meeting room.

Simultaneously, he began a silent countdown in his mind.

”Five, four, three, two...”

Before he finished counting, urgent bell chimes rang out.

”Dong! Dong! Dong!”

As the bells sounded, the sky outside the windows suddenly darkened.

Lin Yu understood—this was the emergency meeting bell!

Someone had discovered a body.

Most likely Chen Zhuo and Xu Xiumei found Xia Yueʼs corpse on the stairs.

He reached the end of the corridor and pushed open the meeting room door.

On the schedule inside, all ”mission” timers had frozen.

The wall clock showed 7:00 PM.

Lin Yu swaggered back to his seat.

Shortly after, Yu Longguo was the first to enter.

He glanced at Lin Yu and narrowed his eyes slightly.

”Did you call the emergency meeting?”

”No.”

Lin Yu shook his head tersely.

Just as Yu Longguo was about to ask more, the door burst open again.

”Bang!”

Bao Liu pushed the door open dramatically, followed not just by Yao Zhengye...

But also Chen Zhuo and Xu Xiumei.

All four entered together.

Seeing this, Yu Longguo immediately understood.

”So the ʼVeterinarianʼ is dead.”

Yu Longguo murmured.

The four took their seats. Pale-faced, Chen Zhuo spoke: ”Right... We found the Veterinarianʼs body...”

Chen Zhuo was clearly severely shaken.

Xu Xiumei took over, recounting the events: ”Chen Zhuo and I finished our tasks on the first floor and were heading to the second when we found Xia Yueʼs body on the stairs.”

”There was a stab wound in her chest—likely the cause of death.”

After Xu Xiumei finished, Chen Zhuo regained his composure and glared viciously at Lin Yu.

”Itʼs him... Not only was he partnered with Xia Yue, but Teacher Xu and I found the body on the central staircase!”

”Minutes before discovering the body, we saw him descending those same stairs—I thought it was strange and asked why he was alone.”

”He just mumbled something about getting separated from the Veterinarian and left!”

All eyes instantly focused on Lin Yu.

Chen Zhuoʼs accusation... undoubtedly pinned suspicion squarely on Lin Yu.

Hearing this, Lin Yu burst into exaggerated laughter.

”HAHAHAHA!”

He stood up, hands on the table, and coldly declared: ”Everyone, I didnʼt kill anyone!”

”This is all that fat bastard framing me... Xia Yue and I did get separated, but how could I have killed her?”

”If I were really a werewolf, would I target my own partner first?!”

”Just now, when this idiot accused me, I already investigated him.”

Pointing at Chen Zhuo, Lin Yu said icily: ”As expected, his identity is werewolf!”

”He killed my partner Xia Yue to frame me, the ʼhighest-statusʼ Seer here!”

Lin Yu spoke passionately, lacing his words with personal insults against Chen Zhuo.

Naturally, Chen Zhuo trembled with rage.

”What nonsense are you spouting? Iʼve been with Teacher Xu the whole time...”

”Then youʼre both werewolves! Good guys, listen to me—vote out this ʼOtakuʼ now, then eliminate the ʼTeacherʼ tomorrow night to end the game!”

Lin Yu declared shamelessly.

Lin Yuʼs logic was utterly flawed, but his confidence was overwhelming.

Combined with Chen Zhuoʼs fury-induced incoherence, he couldnʼt immediately counter Lin Yuʼs claims.

Finally, Chen Zhuo pulled out a walkie-talkie-sized device from his pocket.

”Fine, ʼDetective,ʼ if you claim you didnʼt kill Xia Yue... dare to say that again while holding this ʼLie Detectorʼ?!”

”Teacher Xuʼs profession revealed there are two key items for humans—we just found one, this ʼLie Detectorʼ!”
