Urban Powerhouse: Chaos Supreme

”Has Mr. Huo arrived yet?” Lin Mo took the initiative to speak.

Song Min snapped back to reality, nodded her head, and realized her cheeks were somewhat flushed, ”Huo Nan has already arrived. There’s also a young master from the Huo Family’s core circle coming today, but I’ve heard he has a pretty bad temper.”

The two entered a luxurious private room. The room was spacious and opulently decorated, with several scantily clad, blonde-haired, blue-eyed women sitting inside, accompanying the men with drinks.

At this celebration, many of the company’s executives were also present. They were holding these foreign beauties, each one red-faced from drinking.

”These men all seem so prim and proper on the surface, but they reveal their true colors the moment they get here,” Song Min pursed her lips, seemingly not surprised, yet her tone carried a hint of disdain.

Huo Nan was indeed already present in the room, clad in a form-fitting black scale dress that revealed her pale thighs, with her long hair draped over her shoulders. She looked less like a CEO and more like a woman with a soft, feminine charm.

”Mr. Huo, we couldn’t have landed this order without the support from headquarters,” Huo Nan raised her glass, smiling at a man sitting next to her.

The man appeared to be in his early thirties, with closely cropped hair and dressed in a high-end suit, an air of faint arrogance on his face.

”Xiao Nan, we’re all family, why so formal? But you’re right, it indeed took a lot of effort on my part for us to land this order so easily,” the man said with a hearty laugh.

This man was none other than a core scion of the Huo Family, the grandson of Huo Jiaquan and cousin of Huo Yongshi, named Huo Yongyue.

”Thank you for your help, Brother Yue,” Huo Nan said, then tilted her head back and downed the glass of wine in one gulp.

”Brother Yue, my friend has arrived, I’ll go greet them,” Huo Nan noticed Lin Mo and Song Min entering the room and immediately got up to meet them.

Song Min frowned and said with displeasure, ”Xiao Nan, did that guy credit himself with the achievement again?”

A stiff smile appeared on Huo Nan’s pretty face as she nodded helplessly, ”There’s nothing I can do about it. He’s one of the core members of the Huo Family, and I can’t challenge that.”

Song Min said resentfully, ”You’ve made so many contributions to the company over the years, and this guy takes all the credit. If it weren’t for that, you would have been able to leave Seattle and join the headquarters in Huaxia by now.”

”Let’s drop it, today’s a day for celebration, don’t bring up such disheartening topics,” Huo Nan changed the subject, ”What will you have to drink?”

”Whatever,” Lin Mo spoke up.

Soon after, Lin Mo and Song Min took their seats on a nearby sofa, while Huo Yongyue’s gaze was fixedly staring at Song Min, but he didn’t deign to give Lin Mo as much as a glance.

”Disgusting,” Song Min clearly noticed Huo Yongyue’s gaze and couldn’t help but mutter under her breath.

Today, besides Huo Nan and Song Min, there were also several middle and senior executives from Baoli Company attending the celebration.

”Are you Mr. Huo’s assistant, Lin Mo?” Suddenly, a middle-aged man took the initiative to ask, ”My name is Liao Jianyu, and I’m the manager of the sales department.”

The man was just over forty, somewhat balding, with a protruding belly.

Lin Mo gave him a brief look, said nothing, and continued to drink by himself.

Instantly, Liao Jianyu’s complexion turned somewhat ugly. He glared at Lin Mo, then decisively left to move elsewhere.

”Wow, Mr. Liao, even you don’t get any respect from this newcomer?”

”Right? Seems like he thinks quite highly of himself, doesn’t he?”

”He’s just riding on his relationship with Mr. Huo, isn’t he? What’s so special about that. Just today I saw Mr. Huo go into his office and chat for a long while before coming out.”

”I really don’t know what Mr. Huo is thinking. All those handsome guys chasing her, and she doesn’t even spare a glance for any of them. This guy looks so ordinary, how did he manage to hook up with Mr. Huo?”

Lin Mo, although drinking, had sharp senses and naturally overheard the employees’ conversation.

It turned out that the incident yesterday when Huo Nan had taken him to the banquet and even presented him with a suit had spread throughout the entire company. Now everyone at Baoli Company assumed he was in a romantic relationship with Huo Nan.

”Just another pretty boy, nothing impressive,” Liao Jianyu lifted his head to down another glass of liquor, speaking sullenly.

Lin Mo felt a mix of amusement and helplessness. No wonder those people were looking at him with such ’hostility.’ It turns out they were just envious of his ’relationship’ with Huo Nan.

However, Lin Mo didn’t intend to bother with such trifles.

At that moment, Huo Yongyue suddenly stood up to take a phone call and then turned to Huo Nan, saying, ”Xiao Nan, I have a friend coming over. I’ll introduce him to you so that you can expand your work in Seattle in the future.”

With that, the door to the private room opened and three men in black suits walked in.

The leader was a middle-aged man in his forties, followed by two bodyguards.

”Mr. Yue, long time no see,” the middle-aged man extended his hand with a big smile.

”How come he’s here?”

Song Min’s face changed slightly upon seeing the middle-aged man.

”You know him?” Lin Mo asked casually.

Frowning, Song Min replied, ”That’s Tang Zuhua, the head of the biggest Chinese underground force in Seattle. He holds great sway in the city’s underworld, nearly all the Chinese in Washington have to rely on him to get by, and even some of the local forces pay him utmost respect.”

”Oh, making a stand overseas is not easy,” Lin Mo remarked indifferently.

In Shu Province, he had seen similar local powers like First Transition, but that was within Huaxia—a world power with deep roots with the Western world. Generally, Western forces tend to push away Huaxia people, so for someone to become a big player in Seattle, they must have quite the overbearing presence.

But even so, in Lin Mo’s eyes, it was not worth mentioning, after all, they stood at different heights.

It’s like how some rich people might buy dozens of luxury cars worth millions just to color-coordinate their towels, while others feel smug about purchasing just one luxury vehicle.

”Brother Tang, long time no see. You’re looking good, must have been pampered by some beauties lately,” Huo Yongyue said with a chuckle, not considering the presence of women like Huo Nan.

”You are looking vigorous as ever, Mr. Yue. How about that matter I mentioned last time, have you given it some thought?” Tang Zulong got straight to the point.

Huo Yongyue replied with a smile, ”Brother Tang’s matters are my matters.”

After speaking, Huo Yongyue looked at Huo Nan and said, ”Xiao Nan, ask Xiao Min to have a drink with Brother Tang.”

Upon hearing his words, Huo Nan stiffened a bit, a bad feeling creeping over her, but she still forced herself to glance at Song Min and said, ”Xiao Min, come here for a moment.”

”Seriously, it’s coming to me so soon?” Song Min bit her lip, her complexion turning pale.

Lin Mo asked, ”What’s wrong?”

”Last week I went to a bar for drinks and accidentally bumped into him. I cursed him and then ran off. I never expected he’d come after me over such a little thing. What kind of man does that?” Song Min mumbled, then, holding her glass, she turned around with a brilliant smile and walked over to him.
