Urban Powerhouse: Chaos Supreme

Minister Lou had Luo Yu invite me to participate in a research project this time, mainly to solve the new equipment’s difficulties, and secondly to establish some prestige for myself and sway the Security Bureau in my favor.

The second motive intrigued Lin Mo; he wanted to witness the true might of modern society’s equipment and compare it to the superweapon power of other great nations of the time.

For these two reasons, Lin Mo agreed to Luo Yu’s request.

Leaving West City without Shangguan Liuyun, Jin Ya, Long Mang, and others, only Lin Mo, Yingzi, and Luo Yu, the three of them boarded a plane to the Ancient Capital, where the headquarters of the Security Bureau was located.

On the plane, Lin Mo was sitting by the window, half-closing his eyes to rest, when suddenly a shadow fell over him.

”Excuse me, sir, but could you switch seats?” a deep voice suddenly interrupted.

Lin Mo, along with Yingzi and Luo Yu, opened their eyes, and in front of them stood a man in a crisp suit, in his early thirties, sporting neat and tidy short hair, with a very firm gaze.

Lin Mo frowned at him, clearly the man was talking to him.

The middle-aged man, upon seeing the two beautiful women beside Lin Mo, paused momentarily in surprise, but quickly composed himself, saying calmly, ”Sir, my mistress would like to exchange seats with you, and as compensation, we can offer you money.”

Hearing this, Lin Mo slightly raised his head, noticing behind the middle-aged man stood a woman in sunglasses, dressed in a simple casual outfit, exuding a cool and distant air. Even with sunglasses, she radiated an aloofness that seemed to keep others at bay.

”No switch.”

Lin Mo said indifferently and promptly closed his eyes again.

The middle-aged man frowned slightly, turned awkwardly, and glanced back at the tall woman, ”Miss, this...”

The woman took off her sunglasses, revealing an oval face, pale skin, long slender eyebrows, big watery eyes, a well-defined nose, thin lips; she fit the male beauty standard perfectly, a real stunner.

”I don’t like flying in economy class. If it weren’t for my grandfather rushing me to return, I wouldn’t have failed to purchase a ticket,” she complained quietly.

After saying that, the woman simply bypassed the middle-aged man and approached Lin Mo, ”Switch with me, and I’ll give you ten thousand yuan, how about it?”

”I said, no switch.” Lin Mo looked at her coldly.

Lin Mo didn’t dislike beautiful women, but he did have an aversion to those full of self-importance.

With so many people in the first-class cabin, she specifically came to him to ask for a seat exchange, probably because he wasn’t dressed in branded clothes nor looked like someone from the societal elite, leading her to believe that money could easily sway him.

Seeing Lin Mo close his eyes to rest again, the woman couldn’t help frowning her willow-leaf eyebrows, her face showing a hint of coldness, ”Do you know who I am? I am from the Huo Family, you ...” Huo Yongshi’s voice halted as a wave of frustration welled up inside her, her chest heaving with emotion. She wasn’t a brainless rich second generation; on the contrary, she had good quality and upbringing and even studied at a Noble University in the United Kingdom, but for some reason, seeing Lin Mo’s contemptuous look made her lose her temper, so she brought up her family background.

”Bullying people by flaunting your family’s power, what’s that? Hmph.” Yingzi pursed her lips, annoyed, as she looked at Huo Yongshi.

”Don’t insult the heiress,” the middle-aged man standing behind suddenly stepped forward, his eyes flashing like lightning, staring at Yingzi.

Yingzi lifted her head and glanced at him. The middle-aged man shuddered, feeling a chill emanating from the inside out.

It was clear he felt that Yingzi was not an ordinary person.

”Miss, I think it’s better to let it go and not stir up trouble; otherwise, if the old master finds out, you’ll inevitably face a reprimand when you return home,” the middle-aged man whispered.

Huo Yongshi looked at the middle-aged man with surprise, then nodded, sweeping a cold glance at Lin Mo, she huffed softly and walked towards the aisle leading to the economy class.

”Such a woman really thinks too highly of herself,” Yingzi muttered, clearly dissatisfied.

However, after the other party had left, Luo Yu revealed a peculiar expression on his face and quietly said, ”Instructor Lin, the person just now seemed to be the heiress of the Huo Family, the daughter of the chairman of Lifeng Group. Lifeng Group, Huaxia’s current assets exceed a hundred billion.”

”It’s nothing.”

Lin Mo’s tone was indifferent, as if he was talking about something trivial, but he had not expected that after more than a year away from the Mortal World, some enterprises had sprung up inexplicably.

”It’s not that this is a problem, but the key is that our military has a cooperation relationship with Lifeng Group. Some of the new equipment is provided by Lifeng Group’s technology, and they also have some businesses abroad with extensive connections. Some things are provided to us by them,” Luo Yu spoke slowly in a low voice.

Lin Mo had not expected that he would coincidentally encounter the heiress of the company that was developing new equipment.

Huaxia was advancing rapidly, but in certain aspects of technology, it was still behind other countries. Cooperating with some conglomerates and elite families, using their overseas connections to acquire technology and materials, was quite common.

Previously in Huaxia, there was an organization called the Vermilion Bird Association that used the methods of the Underground Forces to rule some foreign underground forces, repatriating lost antiques and national treasures abroad back to the country, which essentially belonged in this category.

”Miss, please don’t be angry. It’s my fault for not handling it well and failing to buy first-class tickets. Just bear with it; we will arrive at the Ancient Capital soon,” the middle-aged man apologetically said.

Huo Yongshi shook her head, ”Brother Zhong, it’s not your fault. I just didn’t expect that guy to refuse to give up his seat. I better not run into him in the Ancient Capital, or I’ll make sure he regrets it.”

Brother Zhong frowned and reminded, ”Miss, it’s better not to act rashly. The three people just now were obviously not simple. Both women are Martial Artists, and although I couldn’t tell if that young man had martial arts, it seemed like the two women took him as their leader, so he must be no ordinary individual.”

”He is not that old, what’s so special about him? Besides, I’ve met those of the great families, the masters of the Sealed Border Princes, and their demeanor and temperament far surpass him. How could someone like him have any significant background?”

Huo Yongshi curled her lip, speaking disdainfully.

Brother Zhong knew she was still angry and simply chuckled without saying anything more.

The Ancient Capital is Huaxia’s most central city and one of its most developed international cities, where most of Huaxia’s tycoons gathered.

Among them, the Huo Family is one of the great families of the Ancient Capital, having a close cooperation relationship with the military. The Huo Family’s patriarch, Huo Jiaming, presides over the Huo Family, and no one dares to underestimate them. (To explain here, the Imperial City refers to the newer city, while the Ancient Capital is an older, established city. Now it’s considered a new setting since the protagonist needs to stay in the Mortal World, and I hope you all understand.)
