Urban Powerhouse: Chaos Supreme

After saying goodbye to his family, Lin Mo decided to go to Seattle alone. After all, going with Yingzi might expose his identity since many people knew Lin Tanyu had a cute young girl by his side in the past two years. Traveling alone would make it less likely for him to be discovered.

Yingzi, although reluctant, was very obedient and planned to stay within the Star Sect to continue her Cultivation.

Before leaving, Lin Mo did one more thing—he released Sikong Lianyan, the young lady from the Hongmen. originally, Lin Mo had captured her to inquire about the Hongmen, but it turned out Sikong Lianyan’s status wasn’t high enough and she knew too little about the affairs of Hongmen, rendering her capture pointless.

Seattle is located in Washington State, USA, and is one of the core cities in Washington. It’s one of the internationally envied and bustling cities, also known as Queen City and Rain City, because it rains most of the time there.

Today was no exception, a young man with a black umbrella strolled in the drizzling rain, his feet stepping on the asphalt road, splashing droplets of water.

He quickly walked toward the skyscraper in front of him, about seventy stories tall, standing firm like a pillar reaching to the sky.

The young man approached the front desk of the skyscraper, where a woman dressed in an OL uniform smiled at him and asked in English, ”Sir, may I help you with anything?”

”Is this the ’Baolai’ Company of Qifeng Group?” the young man closed his umbrella and asked.

At this moment, the receptionist could finally see the young man’s features clearly—tall and straight, handsome with a hint of youthfulness, especially his eyes, which seemed to hold a captivating magic that was irresistible.

This young man was none other than Lin Mo, who had crossed the ocean to get here.

The receptionist snapped out of her trance; Baolai in Seattle was a renowned Chinese company, but only a very few people knew that this company’s headquarters were one of Qifeng Group’s properties located in the Ancient Capital of Huaxia.

”How may I assist you?” the receptionist asked with a serious expression.

Lin Mo took out an envelope from inside his coat and said, ”I’m here for work, my name is Lin Mo.”

The receptionist took the envelope, opened it to look inside, and her lightly made-up face showed a look of surprise; she covered her mouth with a small hand, staring at Lin Mo in astonishment, ”So you are Mr. Lin, please wait a moment. I’ll go and check with the President.”

After saying that, the receptionist turned around and headed for the elevator.

She soon came out from the seventieth floor heading towards a luxurious office door and knocked, saying, ”President Huo.”

”Come in,” a voice as delicate as a silver bell responded from inside the office.

As she entered, the office was vast with various Chinese mahogany furniture, exuding a strong Huaxia ambience.

A woman wearing a white fitted women’s suit was sitting behind the desk wearing a pair of elegant glasses, she looked up and asked, ”What is it?”

For regular matters, the receptionist wouldn’t come directly to her office.

”President, there’s someone outside who asked me to give you this letter.”

Huo Nan took the envelope, opened it and glanced inside, soon her graceful eyebrows furrowed, and she said, ”Let him in.”

When Lin Mo entered the office, he too was surprised, seeing that the President wasn’t more than twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old was indeed rare in the corporate world.

However, hearing that her surname was Huo, Lin Mo understood she must be from the Huo Family, probably a collateral branch; otherwise, she wouldn’t be assigned to work so far away.

”Hello, my name is Huo Nan, you can call me President Huo,” Huo Nan said efficiently.

”Lin Mo.”

Lin Mo nodded, speaking concisely.

Huo Nan examined him, her eyes also showing a hint of surprise—as Lin Mo seemed too young for his role.

”I’ve read the chairman’s letter; he’s appointed you as my assistant. May I know which university you graduated from?” Huo Nan asked, her gaze sharp.

”Tian Nan University,” Lin Mo said indifferently.

Though he was a student of Tian Nan University, it seemed he hadn’t even received his diploma.

”Alright, I’ll have someone arrange an office for you. There’s a banquet tonight; you’ll accompany me,” Huo Nan stated.

Soon after, a secretary-like woman entered the office and arranged an office room for Lin Mo.

Huo Nan sat in her office, her brows tightly furrowed. After a while, another woman in an OL uniform, with wavy hair, about the same age as Huo Nan, walked in.

”President Huo, did you need me for something?” the woman asked.

”Yes, please sit,” Huo Nan sighed and said, ”Xiao Min, you’re the department manager and my close friend, there’s no need for formalities here.”

”Hehe, is that so? Then I won’t be polite, I want some coffee,” the woman said with a laugh, each smile and frown exuding an indescribable charm, different from Huo Nan’s demeanor, she had a type of allure that was particularly attractive to men.

This woman was Song Min, Huo Nan’s university classmate and best friend.

”You really aren’t being shy,” Huo Nan said helplessly but still poured her a cup of coffee, and they chatted for a while.

Song Min’s eyes widened in astonishment, ”Did you say the chairman personally wrote a letter introducing someone to be your assistant?”

”Yes, but his surname is Lin, I don’t know what relationship he has with the chairman that he would personally write a letter to introduce him,” Huo Nan frowned slightly, a hint of suspicion flashing in her eyes.

”Although it’s just an assistant position, it’s usually set up to train senior management. Could it be that the chairman intends for him to take over your position?” Song Min said in surprise.

”I don’t know about that; as you know, our family always favors males over females,” Huo Nan bit her thin lip, a look of resentment appearing on her cheeks.

Song Min sighed, ”Xiao Nan, I know how hard you’ve worked to earn respect, whether in studying or working, always exerting more effort, even shedding much sweat and tears. I don’t think the board would directly replace you with someone.”

”Yes, I can only think that way for now, but that guy’s background is completely blank; he probably came here through some connections to gold-plate his resume,” Huo Nan guessed, tightly clenching her white fist.

Huo Nan, a girl from a collateral branch of the Huo Family, had always been hardworking, whether in her studies or career, demonstrating exceptional business Talent, and that’s how she gradually rose to her current position, especially despising those who relied on connections to advance their careers.

”I have an idea, why don’t we make it difficult for him to stay,” Song Min suddenly suggested, a sly look appearing in her eyes.
