Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 197: Chapter 196: Go to the Financial Department to Settle the Bill and Get Lost

”What did you do wrong?”

Maxwell Peary echoed the manager’s question, an increasingly dangerous smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

”You should be very aware. If you do not want me to call the police, you’d better leave now and go settle your accounts in the Financial Department,” he warned.

The manager startled, cold sweat drenching his body on the spot.

Did Maxwell know about his past deeds? Impossible. He had been so discreet. There was no way Maxwell could know. After all, Maxwell was merely a man not yet thirty. He couldn’t possibly be as experienced or cunning. Was Maxwell trying to trick him, testing to see if he had committed those things?

”Mr. Peary, I do not quite understand what you’re implying.”

Maxwell chuckled, his lips curling at the corners. These fools never learned until they faced the consequences; no wonder the stocks of MC Group had started to plummet. His silence in the past did not mean he was ignorant, but that he had turned a blind eye. Dealing with these people required no mental effort on his part.

”Weren’t you just depositing a sum of money in a Swiss bank last week?”

Maxwell shifted his position leisurely, his casual demeanor hiding the fact that he was like a venomous snake ready to strike.

The manager trembled in response to his words.

He had thought his actions were inconspicuous, but now Maxwell apparently knew. He had been skimming off the top, taking bribes, even leaking some Company secrets. If Maxwell knew all this—if it escalated, he might spend the rest of his life in prison. Since Maxwell was letting him resign so easily, he must not know everything he’d done, only a small part. Therefore, he should withdraw immediately while he still could.

”Alright,” he agreed.

Just as the manager was preparing to leave, Alan Morgan blocked his way.

”What is the meaning of this, Mr. Morgan?”

The manager was furious. Maxwell had allowed him to leave, so why was Alan Morgan stopping him?

”Billy Campbell, I am here to formally notify you on behalf of MC Group: we are giving you a week. You will refund every single cent that you have taken, or you will regret it,” Alan threatened.

Alan sneered. Did he think he could leave this easily? Did he think MC Group wouldn’t care about what he had done and would still pay him his wages? These thoughts were far too optimistic. Life wasn’t that kind. The main point was, he dared to slander Nia Mitchell in front of the CEO. TSK, TSK, such self-inflicted punishment was inevitable.

Billy Campbell swallowed nervously, caught between a rock and a hard place. He was completely unsure how much Maxwell actually knew.

”If you haven’t made up the shortfall within a week, we will resort to legal action. Don’t say the Company is heartless; we have already given you a chance,” Alan added.

Alan wouldn’t tell him how much he owed. After all, Billy had dared to speak ill of his sister-in-law earlier. If Billy hadn’t insulted his sister-in-law today, maybe the CEO would just have continued to turn a blind eye to his embezzlement. After all, not everyone in the Company was completely clean, and the CEO didn’t care about such a small amount of money. Furthermore, these incidents became leverage in their hands, allowing them to easily control these people.
