Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 187: Chapter 186: Wordy Uncle Peary

Maxwell Peary had never seen such an expression on her face before. Seeing her so serious, he felt a sense of gratification.

How did this happen? They hadn’t even been together for a week, yet he already felt like he was witnessing his own daughter growing up.

He smiled at her, reached out to cup her small face, and gave her a kiss.

”Okay.”

He agreed. He was afraid she would get hurt, yet he knew he had to let her go and grow.

Maxwell Peary sighed. He could only do his utmost to protect her.

He had a premonition that such worrying yet unavoidable matters would pile up in the future.

Of course, his premonition was correct. Many years later, he would indeed have a daughter and would have to experience that exact feeling.

”Thank you, Uncle Peary. I’ll go to work now.”

She remained kneeling, bending over in that position to reach for her shoes.

Seeing her like this, Maxwell Peary was scared half to death and immediately reached out to pick up her shoes for her.

”Can’t you sit properly? What if you fall?”

If she fell from that position, she would land headfirst.

”It’s alright. This isn’t even that high.”

She straightened up, laughing, and reached out to take her shoes back from him, intending to put them on.

”You’re still so unruly.”

Maxwell Peary chided her, then lifted her leg onto his own lap, took her small foot, and began to put her shoe on for her.

”You, ah, try to do fewer dangerous things in the future. Let me worry a little less.”

Nia Mitchell stuck out her little tongue, laughing as she sat there, mischievously wiggling her small foot and making it harder for him to put on her shoe.

”It’s always at times like these that you sound most like an old man.”

Nagging about this, worrying about that—isn’t that what people of advanced age do? Even her own father rarely nagged her this much.

”You, ah. I do this for your own good, and yet you’re always unappreciative.”

Maxwell Peary shook his head helplessly, grasped her wiggling little foot, and put on her other shoe for her.

”There.”

Nia Mitchell laughed, pulled her leg back, and set her foot on the ground.

”How could I be so unappreciative? I’m very grateful, you know?”

She might have seemed carefree, but she remembered everything in her heart.

Leaving Maxwell Peary’s Office Room, Nia Mitchell took a deep breath and walked back to the Secretary Department. Before she even entered, she saw Phoebe Walker through the transparent glass door.

Phoebe Walker stood there, her face a mask of fury, yet she was clearing things off her desk.

Phoebe Walker looked up, saw Nia Mitchell walking out, and headed straight for the CEO Office without even glancing at her.

As they passed each other, Nia Mitchell could feel the anger radiating from her.

When Nia Mitchell entered the Secretary Department, many people looked at her, trying to discern from her expression what kind of punishment she had received.

Even a veteran employee like Phoebe Walker was being transferred; this Nia Mitchell would, in all likelihood, have to pack her bags and get lost.

”Nia Mitchell, while I sympathize with you, there’s nothing I can do. I’m not as capable as Phoebe Walker, so I can’t help you plead your case.”

Shirley Grant stood up and looked at Nia Mitchell with an expression of pity, but inwardly, she was ecstatic.

She’d never expected this! She and Phoebe Walker had been openly and secretly competing for years, yet she had never managed to oust her. And this Nia Mitchell, here for less than a week, had actually forced Phoebe Walker into a transfer! Haha, it seems there’s always someone better out there! It’s just that this outcome was achieved at the cost of Nia Mitchell getting kicked out. For Nia Mitchell herself, it wasn’t worth it, but for everyone else in their Secretary Department, this was a truly joyous and celebratory event!
