Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 190: Chapter 189: Look at How Pitiful I Am

Nia Mitchell was confused. Has Alan Morgan gotten involved with the underworld? Did he seriously have to figure out a way to save his own life? But why was he coming to her?

”Special Assistant Morgan, please don’t scare me.” Scared, she swallowed, fearing she might receive some even more terrifying news from him.

Alan Morgan, the CEO’s Special Assistant, sitting in his office, felt as if a flock of crows was circling over his head. Dared he scare Nia? Did he feel his death would not be miserable enough?

”Nia, the CEO already knows about today’s incident. You see how pitiful I am now, so please put in a good word for me.” He finally understood that Nia wasn’t capable of getting his subtle hints. If he kept beating around the bush, she might take forever to understand. So, he had no choice but to be straightforward.

Nia Mitchell stared at her computer, utterly confused. Uncle Peary knew about today’s issue—why should I help Alan Morgan put in a good word? This entire situation had absolutely nothing to do with him, did it?

Just as Nia was racking her brains, unable to understand, Phoebe Walker, who had been standing there, became completely exasperated. ”Nia Mitchell, I suspect your congratulations may not be genuine.” Does she think I don’t know? Nia Mitchell is probably seething with anger right now, wondering how to curse me. In that case, I’ll expose her dark thoughts and let everyone see them clearly.

Nia lifted her head, looking at Phoebe as if she were a lunatic. ”Don’t you want me to congratulate you?” Did I say something wrong?

Phoebe choked, her beautiful face momentarily losing its composure. She was furious inside but had to maintain a peaceful front. ”Of course, I want your congratulations. After all, we are colleagues. Besides, you’ll be attending my birthday party tomorrow with your husband.” Phoebe spoke with finality, confident Nia couldn’t refute her.

As expected, after she spoke, Phoebe saw a change in Nia’s expression. Nia frowned, her face etched with distress. Seeing her like this, Phoebe’s mood improved considerably. ”You promised me, you know. You’re not going back on your word, are you?”

Although I know that wasn’t her husband who called earlier, and it’s a pity I missed the chance to humiliate him properly, it doesn’t matter, Phoebe thought. I can wait until tomorrow. These people will deliver themselves to me for humiliation; how could I pass up such a good opportunity? I’m also very curious about who exactly this husband of Nia’s is. Who knows, I might even get a good laugh out of it.

”My husband... isn’t really fond of such occasions,” Nia said, feeling a little awkward. She had already tested the waters; the CEO didn’t like attending such chaotic parties. Besides, even if the CEO did attend, he certainly wouldn’t go as my husband. Wouldn’t my identity be exposed then? No, I still want to stay here.

Hearing Nia’s words, Phoebe knew she was trying to make excuses. The more Nia tried to get out of it, the more determined Phoebe was to make them both attend. ”Why wouldn’t he like it? Does he think my birthday party isn’t grand enough?” My birthday party is at the Royal Dynasty; how could it be small? I booked it on my birthday last year! A destitute person like Nia Mitchell has probably never even had the chance to step foot inside the Royal Dynasty Hotel in her entire life. ”Don’t worry, my birthday party will definitely be the largest and most luxurious in all of Capital Town. It will certainly be fitting for your and your husband’s status.”
