Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 156: Chapter 155: The Boss Has a Very Bad Memory

”Is this the kind of work you submit?”

Maxwell Peary, his face dark, looked up, his hawk-like eyes scanning the woman standing uneasily to one side.

”I... I...” Phoebe Walker clenched her fists tightly. She hesitated for a long time but couldn’t find any good excuses for herself.

It felt as though, in Maxwell Peary’s presence, she couldn’t even begin to form a cunning thought.

”Rework it and submit a new one to me before you leave today,” Maxwell Peary said. He didn’t waste words on her, simply waving his hand in a clear gesture for her to get out.

Phoebe Walker stood her ground, hesitating for a long time.

”Mr. Peary, I may not be able to finish this report before the end of the shift. The Office Room is also short-staffed, and many in our group are new.”

After Phoebe Walker finished speaking, she deliberately straightened her posture.

Maxwell Peary raised an eyebrow. Huh, so people in his Secretary Department were now learning to talk back to him, one after another? Nia Mitchell had the audacity because he spoiled her. But where did this Phoebe Walker get her nerve from?

”Are you suggesting I’ve given you a task you can’t complete?”

Maxwell Peary put down his pen, closed the file that had been open on his desk, and looked up at her.

Phoebe Walker clenched her fists, mustered her courage, and met his gaze.

”Yes.”

Maxwell Peary chuckled coldly and slowly stood up.

”Then I don’t mind finding someone who *can* complete it to take over your job.”

Replacement? Hearing those two words, Nia Mitchell’s face immediately flashed through Phoebe Walker’s mind. Nia had already taken over her coffee-making duties. So, was that paratrooper, Nia Mitchell, the one he was planning to bring in to replace her? That would truly be laughable! What skills did that Nia Mitchell even possess?

”Is Mr. Peary planning to fire me?”

For a moment, she felt incredibly disappointed, sad, and heartbroken, the pain so intense it was almost suffocating. She had followed him for so many years; even if one kept a pet for that long, some affection should have developed.

Maxwell Peary frowned. What on earth was she going on about?

Just then, Alan Morgan walked in.

”CEO, the meeting is due to start in three minutes.”

Maxwell Peary raised his wrist, checking his watch. It was a little after eleven, so he began to tidy the items on his desk.

”Postpone the meeting to two this afternoon,” he stated as he stood up.

”But you have another meeting at two p.m.”

Alan Morgan was stunned. Boss, why are you changing the schedule so randomly?

After hearing this, Maxwell Peary paused his actions and thought for a moment.

”Is there anything scheduled for three p.m.?”

”There’s a remote video conference at three p.m.”

Alan Morgan swallowed hard. Has the boss lost his memory?

Maxwell Peary frowned. A video conference? Why do I have so many meetings?

”You preside over the two o’clock meeting. I need to step out now.”

With that said, Maxwell Peary didn’t give Alan Morgan a chance to speak further and walked straight out of the room.

Well.

He left.

Alan Morgan stood there, blinking, then turned his head to look at Phoebe Walker.

”Secretary Walker, please have the documents for the two o’clock meeting prepared and sent to me by twelve-thirty.”

After giving his instructions, Alan Morgan hurried off to the Conference Room to inform everyone about the schedule change.

Phoebe Walker stood rooted to the spot, her mind in turmoil. She was already swamped with work, and now Special Assistant Morgan had...

Thus, the woman transformed once again into a she-devil, her high heels going CLICK-CLACK-CLACK as she strode back to the Office Room, assigning tasks to everyone.

”We’ll have to get takeout for lunch today. Everyone, speed up! Special Assistant Morgan’s documents need to be delivered by twelve-thirty.”

Phoebe Walker rummaged through her cluttered desk for documents. Amidst the rush, she looked up and glanced at Diana Hill.

”Diana, could you help everyone order takeout? Everyone tell Diana what you want to eat. Lunch is on me today!”
