Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 579: Chapter 579: The Child is Teachable

After giving Jiang Shangwen a tongue-lashing, Jiang Shuqing instantly became as silent as a cicada in winter, burying his head in his food.

Wang Lihua, who was sitting beside her son, saw that he was quite frightened and shot her husband an annoyed look. She complained, ”Really, can’t you talk nicely? Have you completely forgotten yesterday’s lesson?”

Jiang Shangwen’s face immediately flushed with embarrassment and he was at a loss for words.

Ye Haochuan watched with a bit of amusement and said to Jiang Shuqing, ”Shuqing, if you want to learn Martial Skills from me, that’s fine, but...”

Before he could finish, Jiang Shuqing’s face was immediately filled with joy. ”Really?” he asked.

”Do I look like someone who would lie?” Ye Haochuan said with a smile.

Jiang Shuqing’s spirits soared. ”Thank you, Uncle Ye.”

Jiang Shangwen and Wang Lihua looked at Ye Haochuan with some surprise, thinking, how can you teach a child like that? Aren’t you teaching him bad habits?

Pretending not to notice their expressions, Ye Haochuan continued, ”I haven’t finished speaking. Sit down properly first.”

”Oh,” Jiang Shuqing quickly sat up straight.

”First, let me ask you, why do you want to learn Martial Skills from me? Do you think it’s just for fun, or do you want to act tough and pick fights?” Ye Haochuan immediately asked.

Jiang Shuqing, with his boyish candor, replied, ”Of course it’s not just for fun, nor is it to act tough and pick fights. If you learn Martial Skills, you don’t have to let others bully you, and you can stand up for the underdog and act valiantly in the face of injustice. Like what happened yesterday, it was clearly that scoundrel Yao Tongtong bullying the little girl. I couldn’t stand by, so I stepped in to help. Unfortunately, I’m not as strong as him and ended up with a bruised face...”

It looked like this kid wasn’t just about bravado after all!

Ye Haochuan nodded with satisfaction and said happily, ”What you did yesterday was right. When encountering bullies like Yao Tongtong who abuse their power, they deserve to be taught a lesson. If I were your age and met him, I would teach him a lesson every single time I saw him, no discussion needed.”

”Uncle Ye, do you really think that way? Do you really think what I did was right?” Jiang Shuqing had never before heard someone validate his actions so strongly, especially an adult, and naturally, his joy was indescribable.

”Of course, it’s true. To be honest, I’ve never seen a kid your age with such a strong sense of justice,” Ye Haochuan said earnestly.

Jiang Shuqing’s eyes brimmed with tears, and he was too choked up to speak.

Ever since he was little, he often caused trouble, and a considerable part of it was standing up for others, but in the end, he was still scolded by his parents, which made him feel unjust and rebellious. Never had he imagined that Uncle Ye would praise him like this. How could he not be moved?

”However, society nowadays is very complex. When we want to act righteously and courageously, we need to be tactful and methodical. The most fundamental principle is to think, before you take action, how to protect yourself from harm and ensure that your family isn’t harmed either,” Ye Haochuan continued.

Seeing that Jiang Shuqing was listening intently and seemed to be taking it to heart, Ye Haochuan silently praised him as a teachable student.

He continued, ”Like last night, you saw for yourself. Because of your impulsiveness, although you bit Yao Tongtong, you ended up with a bruised face, and it caused huge trouble for your parents. They were even on the verge of being taken to the police station. Do you think this impulsive way of stepping in is advisable? You might think it’s acting courageously and justly, but in the end, your parents had to clean up the mess for you. Do you feel at peace with that?”

At this moment, Jiang Shuqing’s eyes were brimming with tears which suddenly overflowed: ”Uncle Ye, I was wrong, I realize my mistake now, and I will never do that again.”

Standing silently by were Jiang Shangwen, Wang Lihua, and Jiang Shuying, who only now understood Ye Haochuan’s intentions. They felt both moved and admiring, especially Jiang Shuying, whose eyes were filled with adoration.

Seeing that Jiang Shuqing recognized his mistakes, Ye Haochuan smiled and continued, ”Your actions weren’t actually wrong. Standing up against injustice is itself a traditional virtue of our Huaxia nationality, one that should be well preserved and promoted. The issue is that the approach you took was incorrect.”

Jiang Shuqing wiped away his tears and said with a choke in his voice, ”Uncle Ye, the approach I took was wrong?”

”Whatever we do, we must act according to our abilities. Take yesterday’s incident, for example. The proper course of action, since you don’t have the strength, would have been not to confront Yao Tongtong, that naughty kid, head-on, but to seek help from the adults around you. That way, you wouldn’t have been hit, and your parents wouldn’t think you were causing them trouble, right?”

”Yes.” Jiang Shuqing nodded vigorously, evidently agreeing with his statement.

”Of course, if you did possess the strength, you shouldn’t always use it to bully the weak. Sometimes, showing your strength and giving an appropriate warning can be much more effective than direct confrontation. Like last night, Uncle Ye casually demonstrated his skill and took the police officers’ guns with lightning speed, preventing them from acting rashly. That’s a very effective deterrent.”

Hearing this, Jiang Shuqing suddenly saw the light: ”Uncle Ye, I understand what you’re saying.”

Ye Haochuan’s smile deepened as he said, ”Of course, when some people are warned and still persist in their folly, refusing to recognize what’s good for them, it’s not too late to teach them a lesson then.”

Jiang Shuqing made a sound of agreement: ”Right, if they refuse to recognize what’s good for them, then they are just asking for trouble.”

”Exactly.” Ye Haochuan nodded, ”Just remember one thing: resorting to violence is just one way to make others fear you. The best strategy is to subdue them without fighting. Like yesterday, when Uncle Ye exposed the police’s abusive law enforcement to the internet and the provincial disciplinary committee’s website, those people quickly backed down and fled. This method is much better than direct confrontation. Of course, with Uncle Ye’s strength, subduing those people is beyond doubt.”

Jiang Shuqing nodded continuously and then suddenly turned to Jiang Shangwen and Wang Lihua: ”Dad, Mom, I was wrong. From now on, I won’t start fights and cause trouble for you.”

Seeing their son admit his mistake, Jiang Shangwen and Wang Lihua were deeply moved.

Jiang Shangwen, who was always strict, just had tears in the corners of his eyes and his body shook with emotion, while Wang Lihua was more sentimental, immediately hugging her son and crying, ”Good child, good child...”

Wititnessing how her brother had come to realize his faults after Uncle Ye’s guidance, Jiang Shuying’s admiration for her master grew even more.

After a while, Jiang Shangwen finally said to Ye Haochuan with a sigh, ”Mr. Ye, you really are wise. I’ve been in education for many years and always believed that strict teachers produce outstanding students, and that stern discipline yields filial piety. Despite having disciples all over the world, I have never been able to discipline the black sheep of the family. Yet today, after Mr. Ye’s guidance, this black sheep has finally come to his senses. This is all thanks to you, Mr. Ye. I’m impressed, truly impressed!”

Ye Haochuan laughed and said, ”Mr. Jiang, to be frank, guarding against him like this with the intent of preventing him from fighting and causing trouble might not be very effective. There’s a saying that goes, ’It is better to guide than to block.’ Rather than letting Shuqing act in anger and get into trouble, you’d be better off telling him what he should and should not do and how to act in a way that won’t hurt himself or his family.”

Jiang Shangwen nodded repeatedly, taking the lesson to heart.

The group continued to enjoy their breakfast, clearly in high spirits.

However, just as they had finished their meal, a woman’s voice came from outside the house: ”Sister, brother-in-law, I’m back.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Haochuan recognized the voice, his eyes narrowed with a smirk, heh, she’s arrived quickly. But unfortunately for her, she’s too late.
