Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 570: Chapter 570: Conflict

Despite her mental preparation, Jiang Shuying still couldn’t help feeling a bit anxious and found herself at a loss for words upon hearing her father’s icy words.

”Really, you’re actually that afraid of your father? After all, you are now a Postnatal Expert!”

Ye Haochuan was somewhat speechless, stepping forward with a faint smile, ”Mr. Jiang Shangwen, you’ve misunderstood. I am not your daughter’s boyfriend, but her teacher.”

Previously, Jiang Shuying had introduced her father to him, including his name.

However, Jiang Shangwen was originally a strict and stuffy teacher who valued tradition, not particularly easy to get along with. To make the act more convincing, Ye Haochuan deliberately suppressed his usual carefree nature, following Jiang Shuying’s earlier requests.

”Teacher?” Jiang Shangwen was taken aback, and beside him, Mother Jiang, Wang Lihua, was equally astonished.

The couple exchanged glances, both seeing the confusion in the other’s eyes. How could this young man, who was about the same age as their daughter, be her teacher?

Jiang Shangwen, a teacher by profession, placed great importance on respecting teachers and their teachings. Although still somewhat dubious, he now looked at Ye Haochuan with considerably more kindness, turning to his daughter he asked, ”Yingying, is what this gentleman saying true?”

By this time, Jiang Shuying’s nervousness had subsided, and she replied, ”Dad, he truly is a teacher I have vowed to follow. His name is Ye Haochuan, a doctor, and his medical skills are very impressive...”

Before she could finish, Jiang Shangwen angrily cut her off, his face stern as he said, ”What? Ye Haochuan? Isn’t he that university doctor?”

Jiang Shuying froze, unable to speak.

Ye Haochuan immediately felt something was wrong; it seemed that Director Wang had indeed moved quickly in revealing his background to Shuying’s parents.

At this moment, Jiang Shuying’s mother, Wang Lihua, also spoke up, her tone disappointed as she said, ”Yingying, how could you be so foolish? Even if you don’t like the match your aunt arranged, you shouldn’t be with someone of such disreputable character, should you?”

Damn, branded as disreputable? I didn’t expect my reputation to be this bad!

Ye Haochuan shook his head; the explanation he had prepared would have to be put aside for now. He chuckled, remaining silent.

”Dad, Mom, it’s not what you think. You can’t simply take my aunt’s word for it, actually...”

Jiang Shuying had barely started explaining when her father, Jiang Shangwen, bluntly interrupted, ”It’s not what we think, then what is it? Do you mean to say your aunt would lie to you, deceive us, and make a joke of your happiness?”

Then, Wang Lihua also spoke up, albeit in a gentler tone, ”Yingying, marriage is a lifelong matter. You must think carefully before you act.”

”Mom, you really have the wrong idea, it’s not like what you think...”

”Enough, child’s mother, take Yingying back to her room and watch her closely,” Jiang Shangwen commanded, asserting his role as the head of the family.

”Right,” Wang Lihua nodded, moving to take her daughter away.

At that moment, Ye Haochuan stepped forward and chuckled, ”Hold on.”

Jiang Shangwen and Wang Lihua both turned their gaze towards him, with Jiang Shangwen scolding, ”Ye Haochuan, is it? Our family’s affairs are none of your business. Get out at once, or I’ll beat you with a broom.”

Beat me with a broom? Truly ignorant and fearless!

Ye Haochuan chuckled again, nonchalantly saying, ”Mr. Jiang, you’re welcome to beat me with a broom. I won’t object. However, I’m afraid you might not be able to bring yourself to do it, heh heh.”

”What can’t I bring myself to do? Even if you were the son of the county governor, I would dare to beat you!” Jiang Shangwen was furious to see a young man be so brazen in front of an elder like himself.

”Hahaha!” Ye Haochuan laughed heartily but secretly applied his mana.

In an instant, the laughter surged, shaking Jiang Shangwen and Wang Lihua so much that their eardrums buzzed; even the chickens, ducks, cats, and dogs in the courtyard couldn’t help but stir. Before long, it was chaos, with animals scurrying and fluttering about.

After laughing like this for a while, Ye Haochuan stopped. Only then did the couple come to their senses, staring in astonishment and thinking to themselves that this young man was really bizarre, able to exert such force with just a laugh.

”You little brat, what’s so funny? What are you laughing at? Get out of here now, or do you believe I’ll really thrash you?” Jiang Shangwen picked up a broom angrily and thundered.

Ye Haochuan snickered, seemingly unconcerned, and replied, ”Since Mr. Jiang wants to thrash someone, then go ahead. I’d like to see if Mr. Jiang actually has the ability.”

”Master, this isn’t good, is it?” Seeing him arguing with her parents, Jiang Shuying was worried and tugged at his sleeve, whispering.

”Don’t speak now, your master has a plan,” Ye Haochuan whispered back.

”Oh.” Trusting him, Jiang Shuying stopped protesting.

Seeing him whispering with his daughter, who looked meek and compliant, Jiang Shangwen became even more infuriated and swung the broom at him.

Ye Haochuan calmly snickered, crossed his arms, and waited for him.

Jiang Shangwen found his pose odd and became curious, but his anger completely overrode his logic, and he kept charging forward, broom poised to smash onto the brat’s head. Yet, just at that moment, he felt a powerful pressure in the air sweeping in from all sides, eventually engulfing him.

At first, he didn’t take it seriously, but when he was about to strike, he suddenly discovered that he couldn’t move at all.

”Eh?” Jiang Shangwen froze.

Ye Haochuan, however, began to laugh cheerfully. ”Mr. Jiang, please don’t hold back. Go on, please continue...”

Being mocked like this made Jiang Shangwen so furious he was almost driven mad, yet he couldn’t move an inch, standing there like a statue.

Wang Lihua, observing her husband’s bizarre posture as if about to hit someone, but hesitating to do so, was also perplexed. She stepped forward and pushed him, ”What’s the matter with you? If you’re going to hit, then hit. Why are you hesitating?”

”I...” Jiang Shangwen managed to utter just a word before his breath caught in his chest, and he couldn’t speak another word, feeling as if he was underwater, unable to talk.

Wang Lihua grew increasingly baffled, but Jiang Shuying, feeling a bit sorry, pleaded with Ye Haochuan, ”Master...”

Well, well, there’s still the bond between father and daughter. I’ll give you some face then.

Ye Haochuan immediately withdrew his mana, freeing Jiang Shangwen.

Feeling the oppressive aura around him disappear, Jiang Shangwen breathed a sigh of relief, breathing heavily for a good while, then looked at Ye Haochuan incredulously and shouted, ”You little punk, what kind of trickery is this?”

Ye Haochuan snorted and said, ”I must say, Mr. Jiang, you’re a people’s teacher, constantly calling me a little brat. Don’t you feel that you’re disrespecting the sacred profession of a people’s teacher?”

”What? I’m disrespecting the sacred profession of a people’s teacher?” Jiang Shangwen, a purveyor of primary school language arts and deeply influenced by traditional Chinese scholarship, was proper and meticulous, highly respected—when had he ever been rebuked like this?

”Isn’t it so?” Since Ye Haochuan had already offended the family, he spoke bluntly, ”Don’t forget, I’m the master your daughter has taken. I’ve heard you’ve always respected teachers and valued their teachings. Since I’m your daughter’s master, aren’t you showing respect to your teacher? Or are you just fishing for compliments?”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Shangwen was stunned and turned to his daughter angrily, ”You little scoundrel, is this man truly the master you’ve taken?”
