Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3996  Setting Up The Prison

Vereinaʼs head swerved to look at him as she shot him a stupefied expression, ”You havenʼt refined it yet?”

”Well, out of the five multi-headed lizards, Iʼve managed to refine the soul essences of one Empyreal Monarch and two Kingly Monarchs, but the last other Kingly Monarch and Empyreal Monarchʼs soul essences are still present. I should also say that it was difficult to kill them when they had six souls and their father or grandpa or whatever was hiding deep in their souls was ready to attack me, so I tortured and drained them of their psyche almost every chance I got so that the immortal mark from their ancestor disappears…”

Vereinaʼs gaze was full of amazement.

She was also aware when she kills a person, they might have an immortal mark from their master or ancestor etched into their soul essence.

A majority might not have it due to a lot of energy constraints or social constraints like privacy but people who are doted on a lot, and those who are leaders of the next generation, would generally be marked. She could not emphasize how much of a headache these marks or imprints were as they would be able to know her location upon their death or even while they were alive as long as the said person activated that imprint.

Fortunately, she had the Violent Punitive Soul Physique that devoured the immortal or transcendent imprints during the absorption process.

But still, her location would be generally known before she could fully remove the imprint, so she would have to escape. Thatʼs why she also joined a sect to have backing.

However, what Davis managed to erase were Empyrean or Autarch level soul marks. That was amazing to her.

”Itʼs my fault.” Davis chuckled, ”Iʼve been having too much fun torturing them for what happened to Fairy Selene Lunaris. I didnʼt want them to grant the sweet release of death, you know, so I took more time to torture them before I finally killed them. Iʼve had enough of their soul essences as I managed to learn a lot, so I can spare the remaining for you. However, I wouldnʼt give for just nothing.”

”W-What do you need me to do…?”

Vereina had an expression full of interest as she asked, but in the end, she turned hesitant and ashamed.

What did she have to offer? This question always irked her, and no matter how she encompassed the world, wondering what she could give to match the deal, it always ended with her body.

It made her feel ashamed.

She wouldnʼt even usually consider it, but if it was him, it seemed she was fine with it. However, she refused to believe that her mind came to such a conclusion, believing it was a mistake.

ʼPerhaps it would be a good memory lasting eons…ʼ

Vereina trembled before she shook her head. She inwardly cursed herself for trying to take the easy way out, although it wasnʼt exactly easy, as she still considered herself valuable and wanted a good man for herself despite being a Divergent whose only fate was to meet a gruesome death at the hands of the world.

It could be said that she was inspired by Davis, who had a big family and wanted one for herself.

”Nothing much.” Davisʼs lips curled lightly as he looked into the dark chasm, ”Since you have some fate with this danger zone because youʼre obviously here and we managed to meet, Iʼm thinking of exploring the seventh level with you.”

”…!” Vereina looked shook.

Explore the seventh level!? She heard even Late Stage Empyreans and Autarchs wouldnʼt even dare step there. It was said that even a young Realm Master had perished there twenty million years ago. However, it was only a rumor and couldnʼt be verified.

Seeing her aghast reaction, Davis chuckled, ”Not now, of course.”

He decided to explore it after meeting with the Celestial Transcendent and then again-

”You should reach the Empyrean Stage first. Then Iʼll take you there. Who knows? The boon you receive might bring you many steps closer to my prowess.”

”Or we could die…” Vereina giggled breathlessly with a speechless expression.

She guessed she needed guts as tall as him if she wanted to enter the seventh level and hope to live.

Abruptly, she cast a glance at him and blinked.

”Why are you… suddenly good to me…?”

”Oh, you want to be bullied?” Davis raised his brows, his expression turning into one of pity, ”I didnʼt think youʼd be into that.”

”You-” Vereina glared at him before she walked away, ”This is why I hate your guts. So hateful~ Fmph~”

”…” Davis smiled as he watched her walk away.

ʼThatʼs how it should be…ʼ

He shook his head and turned around, ”Thatʼs not the way. Youʼre walking straight to the sixth level if you follow that path.”

”Ah!~”

Vereina turned around and quickly caught up to him. Her hand extended lightly to grasp his sleeves, but she stopped herself. She looked around, feeling that the darkness had receded a bit- no, she could see a bit better.

ʼIs this because I absorbed a lot of darkness energy of this place from the remnants…?ʼ

Vereina felt doubtful. She looked towards the path leading to the sixth level, feeling something. It was a bizarre feeling she couldnʼt describe, making her think back to what Davis said about a strange aura. Nonetheless, she shook her head and followed him back to where Stella was located.

Davis took over the place of his soul body and dispersed it. He increased the intensity of the light energy in the surrounding space to have a clear vision and be free of the corruption from the darkness energy.

Since he cleared the entirety of the fifth level, he didnʼt need to worry about the dark shadow wraiths attacking for some unknown time, but cultivators and other entities can always threaten their mission. There was no one here as far as he could tell, but it didnʼt take much to be careful.

He waited for Stella to finish while talking with Vereina and teasing her occasionally, making her fume again and again.

He should say it was her fault for displaying animated expressions. Just her eyes alone told numerous stories. She was a lot like Mingzhi and Fiora in that regard.

Tina and Hailac were also here, inspecting Stellaʼs work as they tried to understand it and better implement their karmic abilities to conceal it. Occasionally, they also turned their focus away and bullied Vereina together with him.

It was almost like they were having a picnic, but Davis was furiously searching for a way to disappear and have his rendezvous with Lea. The darkness was such a hot opportunity, but having come so far here, he needed to stay alert, so he forcefully severed his desires and maintained a vigilant eye.

”Done!”

Abruptly, Stella echoed.

From start to finish, she had taken eight hours to set up the tiny mini-realm. It was fully complete. It wasnʼt like the mini-realms where she had created it first and then expanded with time. It was already fully complete on the finish, apparently.

Everyone smiled, looking joyous.

At this moment, Tia and Mystic Diviner Hailac simultaneously got to work, appearing in front of the small opening and waving their hands.
