Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3958  Two Dark Apostles

Davis gave a good look at this duo.

The moment they appeared, he had a feeling they were from the Heavenly Blight Hall as they did appear to recognize him at a glance. He guessed it was Dark Archbishop Cyprusioʼs work that he could be recognized so easily. After all, the other party had personally seen him and couldʼve transmitted his features from head to toe.

To a perceptive being, just the body type and measurements would be alone enough to know who they were or at least match the target with a high likelihood. Maybe they even had his aura.

Moreover, he didnʼt go overboard with his disguise. Although he had a mask on, his eyes were still sapphire. The hood covered his blonde hair, but he didnʼt go as far as to dye it. Anyone who was a Mid Stage Empyrean or Autarch would be able to recognize him with a close look as long as they had seen him or knew his appearance and aura.

He came here with the attitude— if he got caught, he got caught.

With the black-white stone within his possession, he had no need to be afraid. He could only feel it pulse with his own soul every now and then, seeking his soul force. It made him feel like this treasure was literally made for him.

”I see… the Heavenly Blight Hall…”

Davis turned his body and walked towards them.

”Avatars…?”

He gave them a closer look and recognized that they were not using their true bodies.

”Perceptive.” Halbren, the calm and composed black-robed man, nodded his head, ”We canʼt bring out true bodies here because theyʼre too powerful for this layer.”

Davis nodded.

The fact that the first few disciples of Saintess Lunaria also appeared in their avatars spoke volumes that there was some kind of restriction in this third layer. For the same reason, he also knew the Celestial Transcendentʼs avatar couldnʼt be too powerful.

But at the same time, he was not entirely sure since the First Haven Worldʼs World Master seemed capable of eluding this strange restriction.

How she did that was beyond him.

”Have you two reached the next stage?” Davis probed.

”Haha, not anywhere likely in this millennium, but weʼre close.” Hallen, the pale, feminine-looking man, laughed.

”Alright, for what reason did you Dark Apostles want to meet me? Iʼm sure I failed the test since I didnʼt eliminate my little sister.”

”Oh-” Hallen shrugged, ”We are not going to pursue you on that issue. We arenʼt cruel enough to ask a big brother to kill his little sister. Besides, everyone in the Heavenly Blight Hall knows your little sister is off limits after she was taken as a personal disciple by the Supreme One. Your little sister is truly lucky.”

”Indeed.” Davis chuckled.

”That reminds me….” He looked amused as he waved his finger at them, ”While I was causing trouble in the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm, there was no sign of the Heavenly Blight Hallʼs assassins. Where did all your minions go?”

”Well,” Halbren took over, ”From what I heard, they were waiting for the right moment to intervene and aid you, but you apparently had the help of over five or six Divergents, making their appearance useless. We also want to ask who they were.”

”Iʼm not sure. You might even know them.”

Davis smiled lightly, ”They had a bad opinion of your Heavenly Blight Hall for some reason.”

”…”

Halbren and Hallen glanced at each other before they smirked. The latter chuckled.

”Many people indeed have a bad opinion of us. After all, weʼre getting rid of Heavenʼs Warriors and trash who wonʼt or donʼt want to understand us. Why should we care when they donʼt?”

”Fair enough,”

Davis nodded.

Saintess Lunariaʼs teachings made it so none of her disciples went to trouble the commoners. Even if the commoners caused trouble them, they were taught to look the other way most of the time. However, the rest of the Divergents wonʼt have that kind of attitude.

He understood that very well. However, he didnʼt know what kind of skeletons they had behind their closet so that Saintess Lunariaʼs disciples would have a truly bad opinion of them. Maybe they had their own altercations?

He didnʼt know and forgot to ask. They werenʼt keen on warning him of their own volition either, so he was still on the fence about joining the Heavenly Blight Hall.

Hallen continued, ”In any case, even without having to clear our test, you have proven yourself to be immensely powerful by killing over forty Empyreans and Autarchs and crossing your Immortal Emperor Tribulation right under their noses. You have my immense respect, so we are still inviting you to join us as the Fifth Dark Apostle.”

”But first,” Halbren interrupted, ”Weʼd like to know if you are of the same opinion as us when it comes to doing things. We wouldnʼt want disharmony in our own group.”

”…”

Davis gazed at them.

He thought for two seconds before he answered, ”Iʼm not interested in doing evil things or simply having fun by harming innocents or bystanders who have nothing to do with me, even if they hate me. They are in their own world, and I am in mine. Itʼs better that it doesnʼt mix. As for hunting down Heavenʼs Warriors, I wonʼt go out of my way to do that. If I saw one or a group trying to hunt me down, Iʼd respond in kind and annihilate them.”

”What do you mean trying to hunt you down?” Hallen scoffed, ”Thatʼs all they do. They keep hunting us, and they never stop.”

Davis nodded, ”You are an assassination group. You intentionally target all Heavenʼs Warriors, and I donʼt find any fault with it, and neither do I condone it as I feel it is fitting, but as I said, going around and hunting Heavenʼs Warriors isnʼt my cup of tea. Iʼd rather spend my time on my cultivation and scare them until they could no longer think of even standing before me.”

Hallen raised his brows, ”You donʼt want to defend fellow Divergents?”

”Why?” Davis shrugged. He sounded amused as though he had heard something funny, ”Iʼm aware plenty of Divergents do evil even without passively causing calamities. I believe Iʼm a minority among Divergents who donʼt go out of their way to do evil, and so are the ones who helped me save my friends. Are you the same?”

”…”

Hallenʼs expression fell. His gaze turned cold, and so did Halbernʼs.

It didnʼt seem like they were interviewing him, but he was interviewing them for a grand position in the Heavenly Blight Hall.

It seemed like they gave him too much respect that his pride got to his head.

Hallen sneered as he pointed towards the bloody scene, ”Whatʼs this? Arenʼt you trying to rob and commit evil? Look at how much suffering these two people went through because of your actions.”
