Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3976  Gaze Of The Abyss

*Bzzz!~*

The Spear of Damnation, buzzing with reincarnation energy, headed towards Autarch Elluro Coldwingʼs head.

Because a huge backlash hit the latter, he was unable to make a move instantly.

Even as he inwardly roared and gathered the energy required to retaliate, he failed to gather it in time, causing him to raise his hands to block the spear.

*Puchi!~*

The iridescent spearhead pierced through his palms as he caught it within his grasp, refusing to let the Spear of Damnation strike his head. Instead, using his palms, he managed to divert the reincarnation spear and let it pierce through his chest, even making it miss his dantian.

Even just landing on the flesh caused his soul to feel extreme pain, making him want to shout.

However, he clenched his teeth enough to bleed from the gums and growled as he stood up.

”You will not survive this day, Divine Emperor of Death!”

”Is that so?”

Davisʼs expression was cold and indifferent. He almost didnʼt force the spear to pierce forward anymore, merely holding it with one hand to keep Autarch Elluro Coldwing suppressed. His other hand left the Spear of Damnation and reached out, clasping Autarch Elluro Coldwingʼs face firmly.

”Your soul is mine.”

Three pitch-black heads appeared in the air, grinning as they released a deathly air. They revolved around Autarch Elluro Coldwingʼs head, appearing to scream at him as their mouths were wide open as though they were gates to the abyss.

Even though not a single sound could be heard from them, much less a voice, Autarch Elluro Coldwingʼs heart sank.

”…!”

He felt a terrifying tug in his soul. His soul suddenly became weaker and was stripped from its place in the soul sea. His vision turned blurry, the sight of Davis vanishing from his gaze. He could feel his soul leaving his body, making him fight back to pull it back.

”Noo!”

*Booom!~*

Autarch Elluro Coldwing burst out with his full prowess as he removed the subconscious limiter he put on himself.

It sent Davis flying, even causing his two arms to explode and the reincarnation spear to shatter. A pillar of blood shot from his mouth high into the skies, seemingly injured from a terrifying backlash as well as the shockwave from the terrifying prowess Autarch Elluro Coldwing displayed.

”Tch!”

Autarch Elluro Coldwingʼs eyes looked bloodshot. He knew for a fact that he messed up and shot toward Davis, intending to take him with him so he could spare the living world of his calamity. His speed was incredible, catching Davisʼs leg when suddenly a terrifying hand emerged from the void and wrapped him whole in its palm.

The hand was utterly semi-transparent, made up of countless mots of starlight that made it seem like it was a part of the cosmos itself.

”You have endangered the mortal layer of the universe and will be punished~”

An old, cryptic voice emerged from the void, which only he could hear before the giant arm pulled him back into it and disappeared.

Autarch Elluro Coldwing felt entirely suppressed. He couldnʼt circulate his cultivation one bit. He was frozen within the spatial grasp of the void, unable to make even a single move, but he firmly held the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs leg.

That was the only foreign thing he could feel, making him rejoice even though he knew he was going to be sent out of the layers.

*Bllum!~*

After what seemed to be a long time yet also a short time, the spatial grasp suddenly threw him out a spatial crack, and like a rolling ball, he spun miserably as he appeared in empty space. As he tried to balance himself, he managed to see a few areas of spatial storms that endangered him.

He despaired, but the sense of satisfaction and rage was more, causing him to pull Davisʼs leg and send a fist flying to his face, intending to make him explode.

”…!”

However, his fist ended up hitting nothing!

Autarch Elluro Coldwingʼs pupils dilated, and his eyes froze as he saw nothing but a leg.

The Divine Emperor of Death was nowhere to be seen.

”That… that shouldnʼt be possible…!” He swore he couldnʼt sense him.

Autarch Elluro Coldwing shuddered before he let go of the leg and slammed it, causing it to explode into a bloody mess!

However, the blood coalesced, and a small Davis manifested out of thin air.

”So this is the empty space outside the layers… canʼt see anything as it is fully covered in spatial storms… but I guess you will be fine since you would have immense luck with the heavens on being your side….”

Davis looked around and chuckled before staring at Autarch Elluro Coldwing.

”Whatʼs wrong? Canʼt kill me since youʼre going to be all alone from now on?” He openly mocked the latter before he looked at his palm.

”This is called a scab body, something that I learned from one of my wives. It is created from destroyed blood and has little connection with my soul since it is born from the severance of the connection it has with my main body, so karmic attacks are mostly useless. You can try attacking, but Iʼm aware that you know these things since you have experience hunting down Divergents.”

”…”

Autarch Elluro Coldwing coldly gazed at Davis, his entire body shuddering with fury. He was also aware that this scab body was merely a momentary formation of an original fleshly or soul body to get back at enemies who failed to kill them. It was a futile attempt to embarrass assassins since these scab bodies could be destroyed with a wave of a hand.

This type of avatar wouldnʼt even survive ten seconds even if left alone, much less send back information to the main body. Moreover, they cost almost three percent of the blood and soul essence.

Who in their right mind would dare to use it? It was a complete waste of oneʼs essence, which could become fatal in a battle, but the Divine Emperor of Death used that exact method.

He guessed he was going to be humiliated since he failed miserably.

However, he didnʼt kill this scab body, glaring at it to know how the Divine Emperor of Death escaped from his grasp that he so neatly weaved.

From concealing their tracks to making it to the Great Desolate Plains and waiting for the right moment to ambush the Divine Emperor of Death, it took more deaths than planning. Indeed, he sacrificed more Mystic Diviners in order to divine the mere fortune of a region.

The less fortunate it was, the more he prioritized the search and eventually landed on the Great Desolate Plains, where the Mystic Diviners repeatedly got harmed for trying to divine the regionʼs fortune. It also happened to match Empyrean Miller Skyrendʼs account and what Clara almost slipped up before the Celestial Transcendent interrupted.

It only took two or three hours to set up everything and wait for the Divine Emperor of Death to fall into their trap. However, it all failed.

Even though he killed the Divine Emperor of Death, he failed to end him!

Now, he was sent to the void outside the layers. He was still within the universe, but this desolate space filled with spatial anomalies was no different than sending him to his death. Even if he was powerful enough to pass through numerous spatial anomalies, his energy would be gone before he even found a way back to the layers.

He wanted to know why the Divine Emperor of Death didnʼt die yet despite all odds.

There was no way a mere Level Four Immortal Emperor would be this powerful without a Primeval Law Treasure or something extremely close to it. That scared him to death more than anything.

”Silence, huh…”

Davis sighed, ”Did you really think you had a chance to kill me? It wouldʼve been way better if the Celestial Transcendent showed up. Perhaps I wouldʼve lost and finally died, but now, youʼre just making it difficult for him by gifting me more than a thousand hostages, all Heavenʼs Warriors. Just thinking about it makes my heart throb with the excitement for the future.”

”…”

He shuddered, but Autarch Elluro Coldwing still didnʼt comment.
