Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3777  A Reliable Ally?

”…”

Evelynn sat down after she heard Zenova Artoriaʼs words.

She really was clueless as to where they were, but Zenova Artoria seemed to have already pinpointed the realm they were in— including collecting information on the forces of this city, perhaps at the surface level.

ʼTeaming up with her should get me back to my family quicker, but how trustworthy is she…?ʼ

She was thrown into the true immortal world and needed to survive on her own. If she teamed up with someone, even if she got abandoned or backstabbed, no one could be blamed for it, and it would be her own fault. Evelynn understood it very well and, hence, didnʼt think of teaming up and wanted to act alone.

However, Zenova Artoriaʼs quick information-gathering skills were truly attractive to throw away. She was also smart enough to devise some kind of method to emit a transcendent aura, almost completely blending in with society, but that cunningness is also what made her afraid that she could be set up by this woman.

Evelynn stared at Zenova Artoria.

This woman in front of her could somehow suppress her Divergent Aura. This meant if things went south, Zenova Artoria could escape, and while she could get captured, she would face a fate worse than death, possibly even having Davis change forever.

She couldnʼt allow such a thing to happen.

However, Evelynn also understood she needed to take risks if she needed to get back to her family.

Since she was stranded, Isabella and Shirley were nowhere to be seen, and she needed someoneʼs help to traverse the true immortal world.

And it just so… happened to be Zenova Artoria?

”Why was I sent to this place with you? How come we appeared in the same city at the same time?”

Evelynn was deathly suspicious about Zenova Artoria.

She had left with Isabella and Shirley upon knowing that improvements in their cultivation could no longer be made easily since their foundation was starting to become shaky. This was one of the problems that they encountered when quickly increasing their cultivation. If it werenʼt for the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pillʼs essence, then their foundation wouldnʼt allow for their cultivation base to increase swiftly and still maintain a stable foundation.

However, it wasnʼt the case with Zenova Artoria and the others since they were once Immortal Emperors who had regressed in the Heavenly Ice Stasis Valley. Their foundations were unshaken in the face of their increasing cultivation base.

Nonetheless, since she and her sisters left at the same time while holding hands, they shouldʼve appeared in the same place for all reason, but a sudden spatial storm split them apart and threw them away lightly. Even then, they hadnʼt separated from each other, so even if they were to appear outside the vortex, they should be nearby, but she couldnʼt sense them, nor did any messaging talismans work.

However, Zenova Artoria was here, appearing directly opposite to her from the same tunnel.

She was shocked. How could Zenova chosen the same time as them to leave?

What sort of coincidence was that?

More importantly, their spatial anomaly had attracted attention, so they tried to escape, but clearly, she got caught, so she was forced to kill the head guard in one move while on the other hand Zenova Artoria successfully escaped and even collected information in the next few minutes.

”This is only my hypothesis, but our destinies may have entwined when we last met, causing us to appear in the same place again. After all, two Divergents of opposing forces meeting could have a significant impact on the mysterious ways of the universe.”

”Opposing forces?” Evelynn raised her brows, ”What were you planning to do at that time?”

”Just a rematch~”

Zenova Artoria leaned back and shrugged, ”We havenʼt truly decided who the strongest between us, have we?”

”But,” Before Evelynn could reply, Zenova Artoria continued, ”I am not stupid enough to measure our vain sense of pride at this point, so rest assured. I wonʼt battle you until we return to your family where youʼre in safe hands and can rely on your dear husband to save you~”

”…”

Evelynnʼs lips curled at that provocation.

It was so good that she wanted to leap and stab Zenova Artoriaʼs head with all four of her scythes in one single motion.

”Fine. First, give me the method you use to unleash fake transcendent aura and teach me how to suppress my Divergent Aura, and weʼll work together.”

”Iʼll teach you the fake transcendent aura for free since we need to conceal ourselves in plain sight. However, suppressing Divergent Aura is one of my lifeʼs work. I just canʼt give it to you without some compensation.”

”What do you want?” Evelynn raised her brows.

”By any chance, do you have the Destruction Law Fruit with you?”

”Forget about it.” Evelynn scoffed and waved her soft hand ever so lightly, ”I donʼt have it, and even if I had it, itʼs not up for sale or exchange.”

”For what reason? No one except that little realm-ending spirit needs such a thing.”

”Not your business.”

”Mhm~~~?” Zenova Artoria looked intrigued and leaned forward, her crimson eyes flashing with a curious light, ”Seeing how you wouldnʼt give it to me no matter what, it couldnʼt be for Davis, could it?”

”…”

With Evelynn remaining silent as though she no longer heard her, Zenova Artoriaʼs brows furrowed.

Was he really going to use the Destruction Law Fruit? In what way? Enhance his Essence Gathering Cultivation? But that shouldnʼt be possible as she knew he had three elements, and granting all of them property belonging to the Destruction Law Fruit would be nearly impossible.

”Well, I guess it canʼt be helped.” However, she leaned back and relaxed again, ”Iʼll settle for that Divine Jade Cicada Fruit you have.”

”No thank you. I donʼt want your method anymore.”

”Aha~ So be it.” Zenova Artoria laughed, her voice seductively echoing in the private area.

They were not worried because they had already set up multiple sound-blocking formations here. Unless the City Lord himself was spying on them, Zenova Artoria had full confidence that nothing would leak.

”…”

”…”

They stared at each other, becoming quiet as though measuring the other personʼs patience to drop the price, but Evelynn never uttered a word, even after a whole minute.

Zenova Artoriaʼs lips curled as she looked at Evelynn with respect.

”Congratulations, you have chosen the right answer since our Divergent Aura is temporarily suppressed by the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill.”

”…!?”

Evelynnʼs gaze flickered. She had no control over her Divergent Aura, so she had never sensed it to be able to suppress it, so she wouldnʼt know even if such a thing happened.

However, Zenova Artoria was saying otherwise—that the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill suppressed their Divergent Aura.

”How…?”

”How would I know?” Zenova Artoria shrugged, ”Iʼm guessing it has to do with the overwhelming essence of the pill stemming from a realm covering our divergence.”

ʼSo she also knows that these pills could only be made from a realm…ʼ

Evelynn pursed her lips.

As smart as Zenova Artoria was, she could derive this answer without knowing much because the name and the effects it provided were vastly similar to the Realm Pill that they were going to concoct from the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm.

However, what Zenova Artoria didnʼt know was these Gilded Realm Ascendant Pills were made from the World Masterʼs universe. She was an Anarchic Divergent, so how could realms from her universe be normal?

They were already being imposed with karmic burden for absorbing these pills, so how would it possibly conceal Divergent Aura?

ʼCould it be that the World Master used the Three-Layered Universeʼs heaven and earth energy to nurture her realms because she could no longer increase her cultivation base…? They were created after she was fatally struck by divine lightning? Is that why there were no pills made from Upper Realm and Greater Realms...? Or was it simply a case of too difficult to refine pills made from Upper Realms and Greater Realms...?ʼ

Evelynnʼs gaze shook as she wondered, feeling a bit sad as to how many concessions the World Master had to make to allow her universe to exist within the Three-Layered Universe.

She sighed at Zenova Artoria, ”Then, why did you bother selling it to me since it is your lifeʼs work?”

Zenova Artoriaʼs shoulders trembled as though she was trying hard to suppress her laughter.

”Canʼt lose an opportunity to swindle someone out of something, can I?”

”So hateful.”

Evelynn heaved an exasperated breath, but she still smiled, realizing this was a case of habits die hard.

”Iʼll forgive your transgression if you hand over the fake transcendent aura method right now.”

”Sure~”

Zenova Artoria threw a jade slip at Evelynn. The latter caught it and went through, becoming impressed.

”How did you derive such a thing?”

”Did you think I was just tagging along with your group in the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm for protection?”

Zenova Artoria looked amused, ”After seeing that every supreme genius there was a Transcendent, I knew I had to know more about this new cultivation system but to also emit such an aura if I wanted to blend in after ascending, so I ʼresearchedʼ the supreme geniuses we captured.”

”…”

Evelynnʼs eyes flashed.

They had similar ideas, but no one was that knowledgeable except Myria, but she was a Divine Saintess, and Davis made sure she no longer needed to stain her hands, so they didnʼt go as far as to ʼresearchʼ the Transcendent System but Zenova Artoria was thorough.

It made Evelynn realize once again that this cunning woman in front of her was always playing the long game.
