The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2526: Chapter 2526: Entering the Capital Today (5)

Emperor Xuanjing glanced at it briefly, his expression turning grim, and then he got up and started pacing back and forth.

Qi Jingchen just stood there quietly. Shen Wanxing was in charge of Daxuan’s treasury, and he had been dutiful over the years. The Emperor had always valued him, and even though he was stripped of his powers due to the previous events, the Emperor hadn’t shown any intention of punishing him. It was quite likely that after some time, he would be reinstated.

However, he couldn’t let the Shen Family rise again.

But what Xinxin found out was definitely more than just this, though she probably wanted the Emperor to investigate for himself. Only the truth uncovered through one’s own investigation would be more convincing.

It must be said, this girl’s thoughts are quite peculiar.

After pacing back and forth four times, Emperor Xuanjing finally stopped: ”I’ll leave this matter to you to investigate, make sure to get to the bottom of everything.”

The Crown Prince accepted the order and left, while Emperor Xuanjing called over his trusted guard, instructing him to also secretly investigate the Shen Family’s affairs.

Fuji Embroidery Village.

Wei Yao received the news of the triumphant return of the army, and her heart was instantly in turmoil. She reached out and pulled the red Jade Pendant hanging around her neck, staring at it in a daze.

”Sister, what are you doing?” Wei Jun walked in. He had passed the Provincial Examination as a Scholar last September. Initially, he didn’t want to continue studying, but his family hoped he would climb the ranks in future examinations, expanding the prominence of the Wei Family. After some consideration, he felt the family’s situation was stable enough, so he agreed.

He is now studying at the Imperial College.

Actually, most of those who get into the Imperial College are already degree holders, and Wei Jun has the lowest educational background among them. But there was no choice; he was personally sent there by Madam Ruyi.

Coincidentally, he had become classmates with Guan Qingshu.

However, this young man was not one to just bury himself in books; he would help out at the Embroidery Village whenever he was home.

”It’s nothing.” Wei Yao snapped back to reality and quickly tucked the Jade Pendant back into her clothes. ”Did you deliver all those sheets and quilts?”

”Of course, I did.” Today, Wei Jun was helping with deliveries. ”One customer liked those embroidery pieces so much that they tipped me ten big coins.” He patted his purse as he spoke.

”There are three more orders, and once they’re delivered, I’m done.” Wei Yao quickly found three more slips of paper. ”You...”

”I just got home; can’t you let me take a break?” Wei Jun couldn’t help but roll his eyes. ”I just asked you one question, do you really need to get back at me like this?”

”How am I getting back at you?” Wei Yao gave her brother a sideways glance. ”If you want to slack off, just say so. Why make excuses?”

”I...” Wei Jun felt stifled but quickly laughed it off. ”Sister, I’ve heard, the expedition army is returning to the capital today, and the Crown Prince himself is going to the South City Gate to welcome them.”

”They’re returning today?” Wei Yao’s eyes widened in surprise.

Wei Jun nodded: ”Yes, just as I was coming back, I saw a lot of people heading that way... Hey, sister, where are you going?” Before he could finish his words, Wei Yao had already dashed out. He hastily called out, but she didn’t respond at all, leaving him to sigh, ”You can’t keep a grown girl at home.”

”Where did your sister go?” Wei Zhangshi walked in with a perplexed look.

”To find brother-in-law.” Wei Jun spread his hands.

”What nonsense are you talking?” Wei Zhangshi gave her son a glare.

”It’s true.” Wei Jun raised an eyebrow slightly. ”The Army of the Southern Expedition returned to the capital today, and the Eighth Prince is back too.”
