The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2521: Chapter 2521: Investigating Someone (4)

Old Madam Huang hurriedly leaned over to take a look, then nodded: ”This Young Master Lian came along with Doctor Li Yi, and the gift he brought wasn’t too extravagant, so it was accepted.”

Yang Ruxin couldn’t help but laugh. This Lian Jinshu really knows how to navigate social situations; he just gave three pieces of fine cotton cloth, which together amount to only a little over ten taels of silver. Over here, with the gift exchange and banquet, it’s about the same value.

”Madam, is there some issue?” Old Madam Huang felt uncertain as she saw Yang Ruxin remain silent for a long time.

Yang Ruxin snapped back to reality, then shook her head: ”You may go and rest.”

Once Old Madam Huang had left, Yang Ruxin called for Chai Qin: ”Go and bring Bai Rongguang here.”

Chai Qin frowned: ”But Madam, you are still in your confinement period.”

”It’s fine.” Yang Ruxin waved her hand, then got up and went to the hall outside, ”I’m just going to say a few words, we’re indoors, and there’s no breeze.”

Only then did Chai Qin turn to leave.

Bai Rongguang had always been responsible for the workshops and shops in Wuhou County and Shiyan Village. However, now that things there were essentially on track, he didn’t need to oversee them daily, so he would occasionally return to the main house for a few days.

Today, he came back to attend the full moon banquet for the three little beans.

”Madam, you asked for me?” Bai Rongguang quickly came over. He had tanned considerably, but seemed healthier and stronger than before.

”Are you familiar with Wuhou County now?”

Bai Rongguang nodded: ”More or less.”

”I have a task for you now, to investigate a person. This person is named Lian Jinshu, supposedly from Wuhou County, holds the title of Scholar, owns a thousand acres of good land, has shops in both Wuhou County and the Prefectural City, and lives on Sesame South Street... Also, his neighbor is the Wang Family...”

Bai Rongguang glanced at Yang Ruxin, then nodded: ”Alright, I’ll get on it.”

Yang Ruxin nodded.

”Madam, do you suspect that Lian Jinshu?” Chun Hua seemed puzzled, ”He seems quite decent.”

”You never really know a person,” Yang Ruxin gave Chun Hua a look.

”How could it be?” Chun Hua frowned. Actually, what she didn’t mention is that the Li family is just an ordinary family, not really worth scheming against.

”Madam’s point is, this person appeared too suspiciously.” Chai Qin couldn’t help but chimed in.

”But...”

”Although Li Jiaya isn’t lacking, do you think she has the kind of charm that can wholly captivate a man?”

”What’s attractive to one might not be to another.”

”If that person were just a young rascal, then maybe it could be genuine. But he not only has three concubines, he also has sons. Do you think such a man would be so infatuated with a girl who is still immature like a fake tomboy that he would vow to marry her?”

Chun Hua was silent. Indeed, Li Jiaya wasn’t even as pretty as herself.

Yang Ruxin knew Chun Hua had figured it out, she couldn’t help but sigh: ”Although Uncle Li is only a doctor, he holds my herbal tea formulas, and the Li family has a particularly close connection with me... even without considering these, my and my husband’s current status is worth others going to great lengths.”

Chun Hua finally drew a sharp breath.

”However, all this is just speculation.” Yang Ruxin said, getting up and heading towards the nursery, ”Only once the investigation results are out can we talk further.”

By the end of September, Yang Ruxin finally completed her confinement period and eagerly threw herself into the bath, soaking for a full two hours before emerging. She dried her hair and couldn’t help but step into the courtyard, taking a deep breath, finally feeling liberated.
