Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 290: Chapter 290: Courting Death

”I... I’ll head back to the Hospital first!” Qiao Bing was probably too embarrassed to let Lin Dong see her current reaction. After speaking coyly, she trotted away.

Lin Dong was still in the lake, soaked through.

Seeing that Qiao Bing had left, he muttered to himself for a while, ”Does that mean she agreed or not?”

He climbed out of the lake and saw that the campus beauty, Gu Lingfei, was on the shore, holding her belly and laughing hysterically.

Lin Dong couldn’t help asking, ”What are you laughing at?”

”I’m laughing at you for being a pig! Hahaha...” Gu Lingfei laughed loudly.

Lin Dong silently decided not to entertain her response.

But as she was laughing, she suddenly stopped.

She realized that it was not all that funny.

It wasn’t that she was genuinely scolding him as a pig but invisibly, they were flaunting their affection.

Instantly, she frowned and mumbled, ”It turns out that the clown is none other than myself.”

After Lin Dong got up from the lake, a silly smile spread across his face, still clinging to that piece of paper with the love poem in his hand.

Though he was drenched, the paper in his hand was not wet.

When he noticed Gu Lingfei staring at him, he quickly subdued his smile.

”What are you looking at?” Lin Dong asked with a stern face.

”So that’s what love feels like, huh? Looks pretty unsatisfying,” Gu Lingfei remarked with a curious baby expression.

Lin Dong chuckled helplessly, ”Little brat, you’ve grown so big, and you’ve never been in a relationship? That shouldn’t be right. As the school beauty, there must be a lot of people pursuing you.”

”Being pursued by many doesn’t mean there’s someone I like,” Gu Lingfei replied.

”That’s true,” Lin Dong nodded, not interested in continuing the conversation and ready to leave.

Upon seeing this, Gu Lingfei spoke up again, ”Considering I witnessed that scene just now, shouldn’t you give me your contact information?”

Lin Dong shrugged, ”As fellow wanderers cross paths, why should we have ever known each other? You’ve seen that I have a girlfriend.”

”Cough cough, actually, I’m not asking for myself, but for my roommate. She said that if I get your contact information, she will treat me to a month’s worth of lunches,” Gu Lingfei coughed.

Lin Dong couldn’t help but smile, ”That’s even more reason to say no then. Alright, I’m off.”

With that, he turned and left.

Watching Lin Dong’s receding figure, Gu Lingfei murmured, ”It seems there’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.”

”But, I did meet someone quite interesting.”

”Heh, you think you can avoid giving me your contact information, and I won’t be able to find you? A visiting doctor at Southern Capital Hospital, right? Just you wait, we’ll probably bump into each other again tomorrow.”

Her class was scheduled to visit Southern Capital Hospital, affiliated with her Medical University the next day for practical experience, and fate might allow them to meet again.

At this moment, Lin Dong did not return to the Hospital.

Having been soaked, he hailed a taxi after leaving Southern Capital Hospital and went back to the Hotel to change his clothes.

Just after he changed, he received a phone call.

It was from Medicine King.

”Chief Lin, tomorrow the Chinese Medicine Association has arranged for a reporter to interview and promote you, and publicize your identity as Leader of the Southern faction.”

Lin Dong nodded, ”Okay.”

”Great, just prepare a little bit. We will directly come to Southern Capital Hospital to find you,” said Medicine King.

They all knew that Lin Dong was working at Southern Capital Hospital, and fortunately, the Vice President of the hospital was his student. They planned to have the Hospital cooperate with the promotion.

”Got it,” Lin Dong knew that he might become famous tomorrow.

At least within the medical industry!

After hanging up the phone and getting dressed, Lin Dong headed for the Hospital.

Upon arriving at the Hospital, he found that Qiao Bing had also returned.

At the moment, she was surrounded by a few people.

That was none other than Deputy Director Chen Tong of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department and the attending doctor, Liao Ming.

”Doctor Qiao Bing, I heard you were suspended by the Hospital,” Chen Tong inquired.

Qiao Bing ignored him, simply brushing him off.

Chen Tong felt awkward.

Liao Ming hmphed and said, ”Qiao Bing, you’re being so ungrateful.”

”Our Deputy Director is kindly concerned about you, and you can’t even muster a reply? That’s quite impolite, isn’t it?”

”And besides, don’t you want to get your position back? With a word from our Deputy Director Chen Tong, whose connections in the Hospital are needless to say, you could be reinstated immediately.”

Chen Tong also said, ”Doctor Qiao Bing, I didn’t mean anything by it. I just wanted to invite you for a meal. We could discuss getting your position back over lunch, what do you think?”

This time, Qiao Bing turned her head.

Seeing this, Chen Tong brightened up, thinking he had a chance.

But on closer inspection, he realized that her gaze was not directed at him.

Following her line of sight, he realized that Qiao Bing was actually looking at someone behind him.

”Lin Dong!”

Chen Tong was, of course, familiar with Lin Dong by now and saw that the person Qiao Bing was looking at was indeed Lin Dong.

Lin Dong snorted coldly, addressing Chen Tong and Liao Ming, ”You don’t need to worry about Sister Bing’s job. We’ll take care of it ourselves!”

”Can you solve it? Are you able to solve it?” Chen Tong sneered.

Liao Ming also said, ”Lin Dong, you really think that by relying on luck to save Bai Xiaolou’s wife and winning the title of the province’s best doctor, you can live on that forever?”

”I’m telling you, favors can be used only once or twice. Try using that favor now and see if they still pay you any attention.”

Lin Dong didn’t bother wasting words with them and instead walked directly to Qiao Bing.

Then, to her slight surprise, he grabbed her hand firmly.

Swiftly, he pulled her away.

Witnessing this scene, Chen Tong’s face turned an iron blue.

As for Liao Ming, he stoked the fire, ”Deputy Director Chen, you must not let Lin Dong get away with this. He dared to compete with you for a woman!”

Chen Tong nodded, ”A mere visiting doctor, I could crush him with ease.”

Both of them were unaware that another visiting doctor named Huang Hua had witnessed everything from not too far away.

At that moment, he felt an urge to laugh.

It was a feeling of schadenfreude.

Of course, it wasn’t towards Lin Dong but towards Chen Tong and Liao Ming.

He looked at the two as if seeing his own past of continuously seeking death.

”So this is how I used to seek death...” he thought.

Remembering that, he suddenly felt a chill and vowed in his heart that he would live honestly from then on. Otherwise, he wouldn’t even know how he’d die.
