Chapter 283: Chapter 283: Medical Competition between the Southern and Northern Factions

Leader!

Upon hearing this title, Lin Dong’s mouth twitched slightly, finding it somewhat odd.

”Cough cough, Everyone... why use this name?” Lin Dong coughed dryly and inquired.

The Medicine King laughed heartily, ”This is the term used by our Southern Faction of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The figurehead of our Southern Faction is called the Leader!”

”As for the Northern Faction, their leader is termed ’Leader of the Northern Sector’!”

Lin Dong: ”...”

Leader of the Northern Sector, this is even more ridiculous. Fortunately, he was the figurehead of the Southern Faction’s Chinese Medicine, otherwise, people would have called him Lin Leader of the Northern Sector.

Lin Leader of the Northern Sector, hahaha... that name sounds incredibly absurd!

Compared to that, although Lin Dong wasn’t particularly fond of the title Leader, it was indeed better than the Northern Faction’s.

”Our Southern Faction has not had a Leader for over fifty years. Today, we finally welcome one again. This is indeed a cause for celebration!” Medicine King stated.

The Fire Cupping King addressed the Vice Chairman of the Chinese Medicine Association:

”Old Li, I propose that you activate some media relations on your end, run some publicity. Say that our Southern Sect of Chinese Medicine has found a Leader.”

”Right, this is worth publicizing! In eight days, we’ll have the Medical Competition between the Southern and Northern Factions. If our newly ascended Leader of the Southern Faction can beat the future Leader of the Northern Sector from the North, let’s see if those Traditional Chinese Medical Experts from the Northern Faction dare to mock us again.”

The Vice Chairman of the Chinese Medicine Association nodded, ”I will go and contact the publicity staff right away and start the promotion.”

After speaking, he turned to Lin Dong and asked, ”Chief Lin, are you free tomorrow? I’d like to arrange for some reporters to come over for an interview and publicity.”

Although Lin Dong was somewhat adverse to the nuisance, since he had already assumed the role of the figurehead for the Southern Faction, he naturally had to fulfill the corresponding responsibilities.

He nodded and replied, ”Alright.”

At this time, he also began to inquire about the upcoming Medical Competition.

”Just now I heard you say that the Medical Competition between the Southern and Northern Factions is in eight days, why so soon?” Lin Dong said.

The Medicine King explained, ”This year happens to be a year for the Medical Competition and it’s not far off. I suspect that Wang Xiuxin’s visit to Southern Capital is also for this reason.”

”That’s correct, this time the Medical Competition will take place right here in Southern Capital! Wang Xiuxin, as the young figurehead of the Northern Faction, definitely came over ahead of time to lay the groundwork and test our situation!” the Fire Cupping King added.

”We were almost outwitted by him, which could have damaged the Medicine King’s reputation!”

”Thankfully we have Chief Lin, otherwise we in the Southern Faction wouldn’t even need to attend the Medical Competition this time; we’d simply have no face to join!”

”...”

Everyone spoke one after another, once again expressing their relief at Lin Dong’s presence.

Listening to everyone’s comments, Lin Dong caught on to a key point.

That was the location of this year’s Medical Competition, which was in Southern Capital.

If it were in Southern Capital, then that was no problem.

He was concerned about the venue being somewhere else, as Lin Dong definitely didn’t want to run around back and forth.

Currently in Southern Capital, he still had many things to do; he had to tirelessly search for ”Heavenly and Earthly treasures,” to make a breakthrough into the next realm, ”Inner Qi Shape Transformation.” Then use the ”Nine Needles of Ice and Fire” to cure Long Ying.

This matter could potentially relate to his own origin, so in Lin Dong’s eyes, this was even more crucial than the current Medical Competition.

”Okay, I understand. In eight days, I will represent the Southern Faction of Traditional Chinese Medicine in this Medical Competition.” Lin Dong accepted the responsibility.

Hearing this, everyone showed an expression of joy.

”With Chief Lin stepping in, Wang Xiuxin will definitely be no match!”

”This time in the Medical Competition, we’ll win the contest among the younger generation first. In another two sessions, given Chief Lin’s talent in the medicinal field, it’s not impossible to challenge Wang Taisui!”

”The restoration of our Southern Faction’s glory is not far off!”

”...”

There was no further business for Lin Dong here, so he prepared to take his leave.

At the hospital, Lin Dong was still somewhat worried about Qiao Bing.

Qiao Bing’s current condition was not very good.

As he was leaving, Lin Dong did not forget to remind everyone.

”By the way, Everyone, you must come across herbs quite often in your daily practice. I would ask you to keep an eye out for any ”Heavenly and Earthly treasures” over a hundred years old. If you find any, I’m willing to purchase them at a high price!” Lin Dong said as he clasped his hands together.

Hearing this, everyone began to speak.

”Chief Lin, what are you saying? We will definitely keep an eye out for you. If we find something, why would you need to pay for it?”

”Exactly, Chief Lin, don’t say such formal things in the future.”

”If there’s anything you need, just give us the word.”

”...”

Hearing this, Lin Dong thought being the Leader of the Southern Sect of Chinese Medicine wasn’t without its benefits.

Take the collection of ”Heavenly Material” for instance; it was indeed a significant aid!

After bidding farewell to everyone, Lin Dong hailed a taxi and headed for the hospital.

In the taxi on the way, his phone suddenly rang.

Lin Dong discovered that it was a call from Sister Bai Jue.

”Dongzi, where are you right now? Can you come to the Hospital immediately? Something’s happened to Director Qiao.”

”What happened to her?” Lin Dong asked subconsciously, as he had just been worrying about Qiao Bing’s condition. Unexpectedly, something really had happened.

”Director Qiao was treating a patient, and then something went wrong. That patient is making a scene now!”

”Alright, I’ll be right there!”

After hanging up the phone, Lin Dong urged the driver to go faster.

Soon, the taxi arrived at the hospital.

Upon reaching the hospital, Lin Dong immediately rushed towards the Department.

Just as he got to the door of the Department, he saw a crowd of people gathered at the Nurse Station.

Qiao Bing stood at the center, looking wan, with a group of people scolding her noisily.

Lin Dong hurriedly stepped in, instinctively standing in front of Qiao Bing.

Looking at Qiao Bing, who was usually so strong-willed but now appeared fragile and haggard, Lin Dong felt a pang in his heart.

He softly said to Qiao Bing:

”Sister Bing, if the sky falls, I’ll be there for you.”

Qiao Bing’s heart, which had been as still as dead water, rippled slightly upon hearing this.

Her eyes, too, gained a hint of emotion...

(Because of a banquet at home during the day, I was delayed in writing, so I’ve only managed to write two Chapters for now. I’ll continue writing immediately, and I will stay up late tonight to write a bit more and update. Sorry for the inconvenience...)
