Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 569: Frequent Accidents

Noon.

The end of the auction preview also signaled the imminent arrival of the afternoon auction.

The invited guests had basically all arrived by now, anticipating that they would be able to bid on their desired items in the afternoon.

The talents and wealthy individuals gathered here were enjoying their leisurely lunch.

Everything should have proceeded as such, until a tremor that affected the entire hotel made everyone stop what they were doing.

Under this anomaly, which resembled an earthquake, the ordinary people were even more frightened and screamed.

The clash of metal cutlery and plates echoed one after another.

The service personnel here, after the initial shock, immediately performed their duties to comfort the frightened guests, but the effect was minimal.

A commotion that affected such a wide area was completely an accident, and it was uncommon.

However, considering that Modu was not located on an earthquake zone, and this tremor stopped after just one wave, many people quickly calmed down.

After all, most Transcendent were people who had seen much.

Even a real earthquake wouldn’t scare them, so they quickly guessed one possibility: that some major figures had a conflict and started fighting again.

However... even the battle between those two Teaching Assistants didn’t cause such a commotion, which made them very puzzled.

It wasn’t until guests sitting by the window, in their shock, suddenly heard the sound of glass shattering outside the window, that it continued to draw the attention and curiosity of many people.

This was probably a genuine Transcendent fight!

Conflict between Transcendent was commonplace for people from Transcendent Academies, but the ordinary people were terrified, because they had no power to protect themselves.

Their fate could only be to wait for a kind Transcendent nearby to potentially save them.

All of them had bright futures, and none wanted to end their lives here.

“This... someone jumped down!”

Someone sitting by the window suddenly shouted, immediately arousing the curiosity of many people.

Some didn’t even put down their cutlery and ran to the edge of the floor-to-ceiling window viewing area to look.

Looking down from a high altitude, broken glass was falling from the sky, and only now did it make a sharp cracking sound on the first-floor ground.

And accompanying this commotion, the figures who broke through the window also landed directly on the ground.

This scene was completely captured by the spectators.

The crowd on the upper floors also clearly saw those figures.

“This... is that one of the Fallen from the Fallen Academy?”

“It’s the Abyssal Demon Transcendent Academy. What are they doing? They were invited this morning, then chased and jumped out the window to escape at noon?”

“This... it looks like it’s not just the Witch Academy chasing them, is it? Is that most conspicuous one the Holy Angel Academy? They can fly directly... so cool!”

The crowd peering out the window felt very emotional about this, but most of them were still watching the spectacle.

An auction had two incidents occur during the preview stage.

If the first one was merely a conflict between guests, this one was not.

The ones clearly chasing them were the people from the host, the Witch Academy, and even people from other academies had stepped in to help.

When this information spread, it immediately caused an uproar.

Everyone was here eating, and the Abyssal Demon guys actually caused trouble?

No wonder they were binge eating in the restaurant all morning; it turned out they wouldn’t have time to eat at noon.

At this point, some people began to guess what those guys had done to be chased by the host’s people.

Many people immediately guessed the worst.

After all, the Abyssal Demon Transcendent Academy’s reputation had been too poor recently.

The entire city paralysis incident a while ago, and the atrocious act of Abyssal Demons Stealing the Corpses of the Dead, were still fresh in memory.

Now that an incident had happened, these people naturally jumped to conclusions.

Many guessed that the Abyssal Demon people must have stolen a very valuable item from the auction, or they wouldn’t have incurred such public anger.

Not long after, the main person in charge came over to the restaurant to comfort the guests and tell everyone not to panic too much.

And under the crowd’s encirclement, they had to briefly explain the situation the auction house was currently facing.

After the preview ended, various items were being transported from the exhibition area back to the dedicated storage rooms.

During this time, students from the Abyssal Demon Academy took the opportunity to steal the most important item of the auction.

They were subsequently discovered by the staff, but they seriously injured multiple security and staff members, forcefully snatched the Heart of Cold Tide, and then fled.

The host, with the assistance of enthusiastic guests, is currently pursuing the culprits...

After this series of events was explained to the many guests, there was a general realization.

It was indeed close to what they had guessed.

However, many people were still concerned about whether the auction could continue.

Some even asked if any other items had been stolen.

If the items they were interested in were stolen by those damnable Abyssal Demon Academy people, wouldn’t they have come for nothing?

And these questions could only be addressed slowly amidst the clamor.

At this moment, many people had lost their appetite for a proper meal.

However... most of them were Transcendent, so skipping a meal was not a problem.

Now that such a big incident had occurred, they definitely had to get involved.

And the group most curious about this had to be the people from the Witch Academy.

Those Witches who didn’t know the truth would naturally use any means to watch the spectacle.

“I didn’t expect just an auction to cause so much trouble.”

At this moment in the restaurant, quite a few people had left due to this sudden incident, which instantly made the previously somewhat crowded restaurant sparse.

Among those who still hadn’t left, Tan Han was one of them.

As one of the most brilliant students in the Witch Academy’s newcomer grade, she was still so even now.

Thus, this auction naturally invited Tan Han, and sitting across from her was Shop Manager Xia Li.

In fact, according to the rule for students who had already completed their studies, an invitation letter would usually not be sent, but there were always some who had special treatment, such as Tan Han.

Some guests with special status naturally also had the right to bring friends to the auction.

They just needed to inform the receptionist here and register them.

Of course, Xia Li could also enter this auction through similar means as those wealthy people, such as through asset verification.

It was just a matter of means.

It wasn’t difficult for them; it was just a matter of whether they wanted to or not.

“Indeed, always causing trouble. In my opinion, it’s likely a show they put on themselves.”

Xia Li had a bias against the Wan Shi Wu’s auction and said so with ill intent.

If she wasn’t worried about Tan Han being bullied if she came here alone, she wouldn’t really want to come here.

Honestly, she felt that if she fully opened up her little treasury, she could probably host an auction herself, but she would definitely not do that.

“I don’t think it would be that far, would it? Wouldn’t that be damaging their own reputation?”

Tan Han asked, somewhat suspicious.

“This kind of auction was initially just a platform for resource exchange within the Witch Academy, and only gradually expanded to other Transcendent Academies. With the Wan Shi Wu backing it, are they afraid of damaging their reputation over something like this?”

“It feels... very different from the auctions my parents used to take me to...”

Tan Han sighed with emotion.

“Of course. This was originally just an activity of a club in the Witch Academy, so naturally, it’s different from the outside auction process and not formal. Later, this process became a characteristic feature, and no one thought there was a problem. Just adapt. This world is a huge Improvised Group.”

“Is that so? Improvised Group...”

Tan Han repeated and said no more.

She was invited here this time naturally because she had heard about the Heart of Cold Tide being auctioned.

In Xia Li’s words, this was a part of the crown she owned, and also an indispensable part of [Transcendent Knowledge].

Although she wasn’t bothered by it, if there was a chance to get her hands on it, she would naturally strive for it.

At the very least... Shop Manager Xia Li said that if there were no shady dealings in this auction, she would fully support her in taking the Heart of Cold Tide.

For no other reason than to spite the Wan Shi Wu.

Were those Wan Shi Wu guys not arrogant?

Did they talk about the Struggle for Destiny?

Did they covet her [Transcendent Knowledge]?

Now that she had given all these things away, she felt a clarity in her mind, as if there was nothing left to care about, so she could see many things clearly.

“Don’t overthink it. Eat more of these good things. You can’t eat them often without spending money.”

“Shop Manager, slow down. Even if you eat a lot, they won’t feel distressed. Just like you said, they will earn everything back in this one auction.”

“True, sigh... let’s not talk about this anymore...”

Xia Li’s knife and fork paused upon hearing this.

“Let’s change the topic. Little Tan, the auction will most likely continue. Did you see anything you liked at the preview earlier? I saw a few High Consumption Spellbooks that were very good and suitable for you. It’s never wrong to add some means for yourself.”

“There’s no need for that. No matter how many means of the same level one has, they still can’t bring about a qualitative leap for oneself. Besides, the Crown of Absolute Zero that Shop Manager Xia Li gave me should be ready not long after school starts.”

“Is that so?”

Xia Li looked at Tan Han at this moment, and her mind couldn’t help but recall the past, when she had just brought Tan Han to the Witch Academy.

She could even open her mouth and ask the academy for the Myriad Spellbook.

That attitude of ”I don’t care if I can use it, but I want it”... was a complete contrast to her now.

When exactly did the change happen?

“But having more means makes you less susceptible to being targeted.”

Xia Li continued to persuade her.

“I thought so too... until I met...”

Tan Han sighed with emotion, but ultimately stopped herself, her tone full of dejection.

However, this lost feeling was only temporary.

She would find a way to convert the pressure into motivation.

“Little Tan, don’t compare yourself excessively with the abnormal one. You are only consuming yourself with this Internal Self-consumption.”

Xia Li immediately interrupted Tan Han.

She naturally knew who Tan Han was about to mention.

She had been quite restrained since arriving here, not mentioning Little Han in front of Tan Han, but there were too many legends about Little Han at this auction preview...

“I know. Don’t bother the Shop Manager to counsel me on this matter. I understand it all, but I should also face myself squarely, and also face Little Han, shouldn’t I? Not talking about something is a sign of fear, and I am confident that I can also reach her level.”

“Alright, alright.”

Xia Li was helpless and said no more, continuing to bury her head in her food.

And just as everyone’s attention was drawn to this incident at noon, the Players mingling in the crowd were also completely bewildered by this scene.

What exactly was going on?

Facing this sudden ”emergency” that was outside their plan, they were caught off guard and didn’t understand what had happened.

They could only watch helplessly as the Technology Core fragment, known in their plan as the Heart of Cold Tide, was snatched away by a group of disgusting-looking guys, who then just ran away...

This was the first time these Players felt that these Transcendent were completely useless!

The time for harvesting was clearly right in front of them, yet they could only watch these guys run out of their planned area!

Although there were still many Children of Destiny remaining in the hotel, they could still obtain a large number of Game Qualifications.

But letting such an important item get away really frustrated them.

The item, in the Players’ eyes, was already in their pocket.

Now, it was stolen right from the tiger’s mouth, which was truly maddening.

Therefore, they had to report this matter back first, letting the Game Architects make a decision on whether to send the Players waiting outside the hotel to pursue them, or to ignore these things... and directly proceed with the Game Qualification Harvest.

When this news reached the Game Architects who were busy maintaining the Myriad Worlds Terminal, they immediately let out a round of emotional venting!

But facing such a sudden situation, they had to make a choice.

After all, they had top-tier Players responsible for world conquest and a think tank responsible for data judgment, so their judgment and decision-making were quite capable.

Based on the information relayed from the Players at the front line, they quickly reached a conclusion: the move played by those guys was very likely targeted at them, the Players!

If they let the Players waiting outside the hotel directly try to snatch the item, they would very likely be surrounded and attacked by those guys.

That would be a loss.

It would also be very difficult to lure them back into the hotel scheme.

However, they quickly made a decision: tell the Players waiting outside not to chase the stolen fragment, but to create some commotion outside the hotel, expose their identity, and then quickly hide.

Afterward, they would observe the reaction of those guys and then proceed with the subsequent temporary plan.

If possible, they naturally hoped to resolve everything quickly.

Every moment the Myriad Worlds Terminal was delayed was a waste of resources—a net loss!

They had to get an equivalent return for this loss!

Whether it was the Game Qualifications of this world or the fragment of the Technology Core, as long as they could obtain good things, it was worth it.

However, if they acquired the fragment of the Technology Core, they still faced a problem.

That was how they were going to transfer it out.

If their home world wanted to approach this world for material transfer, it would undoubtedly be very slow.

If the Technology Core snatched by the Players were to be stolen back by the Aboriginal again, all their hard work would be in vain.

It would be reassuring to get their hands on it for research sooner.

They had previously rehearsed the procedure for acquiring a Technology Core in that Small World.

The only pity was that they did not manage to acquire the Technology Core of that Small World.

But there was a good piece of news recently: this world they had now discovered seemed to have collided with that Small World and created a Spatial Rift.

Therefore, they had to speed up the invasion of this world, and at the same time acquire the Technology Core of this world, and then use this world as a springboard to reclaim the Small World they had discarded.

Then, they could slowly acquire the missing Technology Core.

It could be said that their overall plan was sound.

Although many people felt this plan was somewhat wishful thinking, no one dared to deny this major policy.

“The overall plan has been finalized. We, the Architects, will first authorize the Players with the decision-making task permission. The remaining specific steps are what they are best at.”

With this sentence, the temporary meeting between the Game Architects concluded.

And at the auction hotel, the attempt made by the representatives of the various Transcendent Academies achieved its goal in a different way: the Players were indeed forced to reveal themselves and act due to their plan.

But... it was not in the way they had hoped.
