Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 566: The Player’s Setup

Although the idea of ”Soul Mimicry” was somewhat impractical, if one did not conceive it, then how could it be realized?

The concept of the Soul is closely related to the Dream State, which I had already understood and considered the key to solving the current problem.

The Fool’s Dream Clan itself has difficulty existing independently in reality with its own consciousness.

Once they leave their physical shells, they return to the Dream State.

Therefore, their life essence needs to be reshaped.

Since I couldn’t make them beings of soul essence in one step, I must proceed step by step.

The first step is ”Soul Mimicry,” at least allowing them to enter my Sea of the Dream State with the help of the Enlightenment Meditation Spell.

Of course, if the ability of Soul Mimicry is derived from the Great Wisdom Enlightenment Spell, its applications are far more than just for the Fool’s Dream Clan.

But thinking about these things is still a bit too early.

I withdrew from the Sea of the Dream State and simply tidied my emotions.

I was feeling pretty energetic.

Although I had been reading for a whole day, I wasn’t very tired.

I was ready to find something to do, so I started the Destiny Gazing Technique’s information deduction again to see if there were any changes in destiny.

The Destiny Gazing Technique can observe the trend of destiny and the Script.

Destiny, under the interference of the World Consciousness and the Script, is traceable.

This is the basic deduction premise of the Destiny Gazing Technique spell.

But the means by which those Players manipulate destiny are not so easy to guess.

To put it in a more metaphysical way, these guys don’t follow the routines, the so-called ”variables.”

But now, with just a quick look, I suddenly discovered something was wrong.

This is... the Children of Destiny are showing a decline, and the Variables are about to complete the harvest of this destiny!

I suddenly sat up from the bed.

How long had it been since I deduced the Destiny Gazing Technique?

How did the situation become like this?

Is this auction going to have a big surprise?

This is an attempt to catch everything in one net and harvest it all... but do those Players really have this kind of strength...

I genuinely didn’t understand this and was a little incredulous.

Unless they have some hidden means, or if the Players can’t win a direct confrontation, then they will rely on pre-arranged methods, like the nuclear bomb they set up previously.

If they set one up here, it would absolutely be a situation where everyone dies.

But this possibility is not very high...

In any case, it’s better to go and kill a Player first to understand what is going on.

After all, a dead person has no secrets under the Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell.

Although those Players don’t truly possess those bodies, the Player’s memory won’t return to the earth vein after the Player dies.

But as long as they have revealed any information in the past, I can slowly collect it, and even analyze what they did and why.

This is far more reliable than mere speculation and impractical deduction.

So I didn’t hesitate anymore and immediately unfolded the map integrated with the earth vein information.

At this auction, there are already two Players I’ve detected.

Their actions are clearly visible under the earth vein information, so I don’t have to bother searching.

After pushing open my door and leaving, I subconsciously noticed that the hotel has quite a few surveillance cameras.

If those Players want to do something, they must avoid these cameras.

So I curiously went to the fire escape staircase, which wasn’t very conspicuous, instead of taking the elevator.

But as I chose the stairs instead of the elevator, I noticed some anomalies in the surveillance camera near the stairs.

“This is... Transcendent Pixel...”

I gently gripped the surveillance camera, and a cluster of something that was almost invisible from the outside was pulled down by me.

It seemed to also have the ability to camouflage its environment.

And my Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell’s information presentation about it was somewhat unclear, with basically not much matching information.

This is likely the power that those Players control.

However, I didn’t let go but instead checked other surrounding information, such as the surveillance camera it interfered with, to deduce what this thing was for.

Based on my speculation, if it targets surveillance, then... it’s most likely faked footage?

This is equivalent to physically hacking the surveillance without letting the person watching the surveillance notice.

If the surveillance camera on this staircase is ”hacked,” then this staircase is the safe passage for those Players to move between floors.

After all, the staircase is almost a formality for this kind of high-rise building, especially the safety escape staircase, where not many people usually come.

Furthermore, even the employees have an employee elevator.

At this moment, I played with this piece of ”Transcendent Pixel.”

This should be the Transcendent effect constructed with [Transcendent Knowledge] as its core power system.

Although I appeared to be playing with it, I was actually testing the nature of this power with my own methods and strength, and collecting data on these tests using the Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell.

Transcendent Pixel is worthy of being a demonstration of power originating from [Transcendent Knowledge].

Even though it is just a pixel, its spell nature is quite terrifying, and it inherits the characteristic of the Grand Spellbook that the spell effect exists permanently.

This means that although the pixels can be broken, i.e., the pixel blocks are disintegrated, to completely eliminate them, the power of a Grand Spellbook is needed.

If one relies on ordinary means, a greater price is needed to resist it.

So this creates a terrifying fact: the physical properties exhibited by the ”objects” generated by Transcendent Pixel are extremely frightening.

As long as these pixels cannot be completely annihilated, the maximum damage they receive is the disintegration of the pixel block intervals, but these pixel blocks can be reorganized after they scatter.

However... this characteristic doesn’t seem to be demonstrated on those ordinary Players.

Perhaps... this power, when distributed among so many Players, also feels stretched...

So... if they genuinely want to gain something, they only need to concentrate their power to do one thing.

The power they can wield will probably become terrifyingly immense.

After figuring this out, I no longer hesitated and went directly to the lower area of the hotel.

After roughly understanding the Transcendent Power fluctuation of this Transcendent Pixel, I also updated the Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell with a special marker for this type of power.

But as I synced it with the earth vein information structure distribution map of the entire hotel, I suddenly discovered... the entire hotel has this kind of Transcendent Pixel power fluctuation!

The earth vein information doesn’t lie... it seems those Players haven’t been idle at all these past two days...

Moreover, in some specific areas of the hotel, I saw a massive amount of this energy fluctuation.

If a pixel the size of the one I just tested is marked as a red dot, these areas of the hotel are simply blazing red!

After carefully discerning them, I found that these places were mostly the hotel’s utility rooms, warehouses, and the independent electrical rooms on each floor.

There were also some small meeting rooms that hadn’t been used for a long time, abandoned offices that were used as storage rooms, and so on...

“What are they trying to do?”

I muttered with a frown.

It can’t be that they are actually setting up bombs here and will eventually send the hotel flying into the sky.

But no matter what, going to see will reveal the whole truth.

I looked at the Player I had marked on the earth vein information.

The other party seemed to be wandering around the hotel, and the route partially overlapped with the specially marked red areas.

They are probably checking those things.

“I’ll kill you later.”

I sighed softly.

To avoid alerting the enemy, I still came out of the stairwell and headed toward the closest marked area to me.

When I arrived at this area, I found that this was clearly not a place guests should come to.

I sensed the surroundings, avoiding some scattered staff and surveillance cameras, and easily arrived at this place.

No wonder those Players chose this spot; it’s really easy to sneak in here.

As I gently pushed the door open, I entered this place that resembled an employee utility room.

The space inside was not small.

Judging by the dust on the floor, it seemed no one had been here for a while.

I didn’t expect that a hotel that looked so glamorous on the outside would also have areas with unreasonable architectural design and functional planning inside.

Otherwise, this place wouldn’t be unused.

“Strange, there are no abnormalities...”

In the pitch-black room, I turned on the interior light, briefly scanned the area, and finally saw footprints left in the dust on the floor.

“It’s here...”

Following the footprints, I locked onto the direction here.

If one relied solely on the naked eye, there might really be nothing unusual, but I have Spirit Vision, and even the Earth Vein Information Appraisal Spell.

How could such abnormal means stop me?

I reached out my hand and touched a thin, film-like layer in the air.

This also seemed to be a visual 3D image constructed by pixels.

When I lifted this layer of ”veil,” the Players’ setup here was directly presented before me.

This is a... pixel construct that almost occupies an entire wall?

No, those pixels don’t seem to be the main body, but the main body is wrapped in pixels.

The surrounding pixels... seem more like an energy corrosion.

I picked up a piece of pixel near my foot, and a depression appeared on the ground.

The composition of these pixels seems to be the material of the floor.

This is... Material Assimilation!

I quickly checked the earth vein information’s architectural image and updated the current information...

I found that this corrosion seems to be gradually replacing the hotel’s architecture.

I brushed aside the pixels, revealing the core that caused this small area of corrosion, but I found that I couldn’t take it away.

If I were to forcefully take it, I could probably do it, but that would inevitably cause a considerable commotion, which would be not worth the trouble.

And even if I could clean up this area, how would I then clean up the entire hotel?

I took a few deep breaths to calm my mood.

I suddenly realized I had made a mistake, which was... this hotel wasn’t mine, so why was I subconsciously anxious for them?

Are Players a threat to the Main World?

Perhaps so, because they can cause terrifying harm to society.

But most things in this world can be divided into two types: one is ”It’s none of your business,” and the other is ”What’s it to me.”

I was thinking about my motivation for doing all this.

What compelled me to get out of the soft, large bed in my suite, then avoid the staff and finally come here, only to discover such a big problem?

Was it curiosity about the unknown in the whole matter, was it standing on a higher cognitive level and yet entering the scheme to watch the fun up close, or something else?

It seems all of these factors played a part.

Now a corner of the truth has been unveiled to me, but I don’t have much patience to play with them anymore.

The simplest way is to... kill a Player, and I can probably get a general idea of their setup.

I looked at the wandering Player marked on the earth vein information.

Heh heh You’re the one.

After making a decision, I headed straight for that location.

Subconsciously, the Book in the Casket appeared in my hand.

At the same time.

The middle-aged man-like Player wandering between the floors suddenly received a message.

“What? Damn it... Didn’t you say that Calamity Witch had been well-behaved and hadn’t done anything for the past two days? Why did she suddenly discover our setup?”

“Unclear. The opponent has no reason, a clear goal, and has already dismantled an interference module we placed on the stairwell surveillance. Then she headed straight for one of the utility rooms we set up.”

The Player’s ear received information from another Player responsible for data and screen monitoring.

“What should we do? Don’t you guys have a contingency plan for dealing with this guy?”

“We do... wait, that guy...”

“What’s the situation now? Hurry up and speak clearly.”

The middle-aged Player responsible for the action asked.

“That guy didn’t destroy our setup. She might have left due to some consideration. In any case, prepare for the worst. If she tells the hotel manager about this, our situation will be very difficult.”

“By the way, how long do we have to stall? The auction is about to start, and the protagonists have almost all arrived. There’s no need to wait for the small fries who haven’t arrived, right?”

“Do you think launching an operation is easy? This requires the cooperation of the Myriad Worlds Terminal! For this, the Game Architects urgently issued an emergency maintenance announcement to multiple other game worlds, just to mobilize the terminal resources to ensure the success of this operation. Can’t you stall for a little longer?”

“Tch You do it if you can? You just sit in a suite and don’t do anything. How comfortable is that?”

“The division of labor is clear. There’s nothing to argue about. You don’t have the technology; I do. It serves me right to enjoy the benefits... Wait! No! Something’s wrong.”

“What is it again? Stop panicking and speak clearly!”

“The Calamity Witch’s direction is wrong. She is coming in your direction!”

“No, seriously? Could it be a coincidence?”

The middle-aged Player asked.

“Hurry up and leave this place. Try to move to another floor first.”

After receiving the information, he didn’t dare to delay.

He immediately turned a corner and went to the elevator to move between floors.

After entering the elevator, the running sound of the elevator was extremely subtle in the silent, confined space.

Only his frantically beating heart proved that he was very nervous.

“Which floor did you press? She stopped near the eighth floor. That’s the route to the elevator well!”

“The eighth floor... wait, what?”

“Change floors! Hurry! Hurry!”

The Player didn’t dare to delay and immediately changed floors.

Now he was convinced that he had been targeted!

“Damn it... she’s made a move. You were tracked in real-time, weren’t you, you idiot! Were you noticed by her when you encountered that guy?”

“How should I know! I only glanced at her at the time, and she didn’t even see me!”

“Quickly self-check if you have any tracking magic or marks left on you. Also... don’t come to my floor. If you’re going to die, don’t drag me down. I’ll go warn the others first.”

“Hey! Hey! What should I do next? I put so much effort into this plan. Are you fucking abandoning me?”

“We recognize your value. You hold off the Calamity Witch first. Just survive! Do you remember the contingency plan for this special situation I mentioned? Listen to my command later! If you have the condition, go to the top floor first.”

“Hey, hey! Damn it, no sound? How long do I have to hold her off? I only have one life! This bird-like middle-aged man’s body is sick! How am I supposed to hold her off?”
