Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 193: Knocked Tan Han Unconscious

Through repeated challenges, perhaps from learning the lesson of the first failure, or perhaps from ignoring the result of failure, when Tan Han failed the second and even the third match, the outcome of failure was no longer so important to her.

Perhaps it was letting go, or perhaps it was an epiphany.

Without the interference of the concept of winning or losing, only the pure process of combat remained.

Without being timid and hesitant, the powerful spells were cast with even less possibility of hesitation.

Because the failure in the first match told her that with winning as the ultimate goal, not only would she not win, but she also wouldn’t get a very good combat experience.

This was a one-on-one battle, a way to hone the use of spells.

A battle was never about a brute fighting another brute.

The power in one’s hands was a means to victory, and the clash of power was a game between two people, not a true comparison of whose power was greater.

Because spells were never just about evocation, transformation, and summoning.

There were also more wondrous spell effects like silence, weakening of the five senses, curses, hypnosis, illusions, and telekinesis.

These were all more effective means in a game than pure power.

By now, the battle between Tan Han and me had even returned to a duel between basic spellbooks.

Because the high-consumption spellbooks had already been experienced after those few climaxes of the battle.

The convenience brought by that supreme power often only dragged the battle into a prolonged state of attrition and confrontation.

Whether it was transformation spell versus transformation spell, summoning spell versus transformation spell, or high-tier evocation spell versus other spells, great power didn’t create a gap, it only flattened the fluctuating gap, and in the end, the spell effect would be broken.

And Tan Han also understood one thing, that the opponent’s Spirit Vision was too much of a counter to spells.

All transformation spells, summoning spells, and various other spell effects seemed to have no defense against it.

This was the high wall she could not overcome.

And from my perspective, Tan Han’s growth was also terrifying.

First, one must know a premise, that Tan Han’s Spirit Vision was at the second stage, and she couldn’t see the internal structure of the spellbook created with True Editing technology.

But after she thoroughly understood the basic structure of the Fireball spellbook yesterday, she could now perform ”micro-modding” when using the Fireball spellbook.

This was done without the help of Spirit Vision, purely based on her understanding of the spellbook’s application and the macroscopic impact on the spellbook according to her own situation.

The difference between this micro-modding and my modding was like the difference between metaphysics and science, on two different tracks.

Even though for Tan Han, this Fireball spell only had its power slightly increased, its usage interval shortened, its fixed consumption limit raised, and its flight trajectory had a certain degree of curvature correction.

It seemed useless, and couldn’t even compare to me now, but this was a huge improvement for Tan Han, with symbolic meaning greater than practical significance.

This was a path she had explored on her own.

She had figured out a path to ”mod” a spellbook based on her own understanding!

At this moment, I recalled what Teacher Ji Niang had said before, I might have forgotten the exact content.

But I still remembered the general meaning, there was no absolute right path in exploring the transcendent, as long as it could help in the exploration, it was a feasible path.

Thinking about it this way, exploring the transcendent through metaphysics didn’t seem impossible, did it?

“Looks like you’ve reached your limit again,” I said.

At this moment, several clusters of abilities mixed with transcendent energy floated around my body.

They obediently circled around me, glaring menacingly at Tan Han.

At this moment, my gaze towards Tan Han was still faintly shimmering with the aura of the ”Flexible Learning and Application Spell”.

The clusters of spell effects behind me were the final results of the mods I made, practicing the inspirations that burst forth during battle.

Although it was a pity, my inspiration had only burst forth this once so far in the battle, but it was an extraordinary one.

I called this inspiration the ”Floating Series”.

The inspiration came from the concept of combining the lightning ball from the Lightning Strike Spell in the public area with ”floating cannons”, forming a controllable, follow-up, and autonomously combat-capable spell effect unit.

This might sound a bit convoluted, but it basically meant I optimized the indiscriminate killing effect of that Lightning Strike Spell, making a spell effect controllable.

Under my control, it could identify friendly and enemy targets, and it was optimized to a degree that the spellbook could withstand.

Although this increased consumption and lowered damage, it formed an even more terrifying suppressive fire.

After all, who could refuse a fully automatic spell-casting device?

As long as one provided a target identification command with a little mental power, one could easily control the spell effect.

When the first evocation spell, Lightning Strike Spell, underwent this kind of modding, after all, I had done something similar before, so I used the Lightning Strike Spell as the first test subject.

After that, the basic evocation spells had a reference object.

Now, if I went all out, I would have five suppressive fire turrets.

Of course, the price was that the consumption was too great.

But it was precisely because of my modding that, in the process of repeated battles, it was all witnessed by Tan Han.

For Tan Han, this situation was like watching her opponent improve while she was still thinking about how to break the stalemate.

This sense of disparity was huge, and this pressure also gave Tan Han terrifying motivation.

And she also understood the meaning of such a prolonged battle.

She understood why I would agree to her battles again and again, not because she, like me, had come to love the atmosphere of battle and honing combat experience, but because the other party could continuously improve themselves during combat.

When she realized this, Tan Han was constantly being suppressed by me for a period of time, because she had fallen into her own confusion.

Why was she fighting?

Was the level she was pursuing being suppressed and self-denied?

It wasn’t until Tan Han counterattacked and used the Fireball spell as a means that she truly thought things through.

And then she was suppressed by me even more severely, but her use of the Fireball spell was also improving at a rapid pace.

Even though this rapid pace was very slow to me, I could see her progress and improvement in every exchange.

This was the terrifying part.

I needed battle to stimulate inspiration to improve myself, while Tan Han relied on constant tempering to improve steadily.

It was hard to say who was better or worse, but she understood her own path through me.

A path of why she fights.

“Then I admit defeat, but… again… again!”

Tan Han said.

After admitting defeat, her magic power and even stamina could be restored to their optimal state, but a person’s spirit couldn’t withstand such high-intensity battles.

“Stop, your spirit is not enough to support you in battle,” I said.

“No, I still can… I can…”

At this moment, Tan Han responded, panting heavily.

“Can my ass!”

I retorted angrily.

Even though I looked relaxed, I was also struggling a bit now, let alone Tan Han who was under suppressive fire?

So I had to educate Tan Han a bit.

Even if she was the protagonist of the script, she couldn’t be this reckless, right?

Was she treating me as an elite mob, a mini-boss to farm?

So I didn’t mind giving a verbal lashing at this time.

Since Tan Han was the protagonist, I would directly transform into a long-winded villain and lecture her.

“I can see that your understanding of combat has changed. You’ve begun to understand my actions, why you fight, and what can be gained from fighting. For me, the victory or defeat of each battle is not the final outcome, but improvement. There’s no end to opponents, no end to enemies. There must always be a reason to fight.”

“My energy consumption is too high now, and my inspiration is exhausted. The same goes for you. We both understand this. Continuing is not good for anyone. If you’re a stubborn mule, then pretend I didn’t say anything, but I won’t practice with you anymore. After all, what I said at the time was that I’d have one match with you.”

After speaking, I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and pondered for a moment to calm down.

But the match wasn’t over.

If Tan Han agreed with what I said, the battle would end directly.

If she was a stubborn mule, she would probably charge over in the next moment, but I wouldn’t dodge.

I would just press the resurrection button and log out at the speed of light.

I believe Tan Han is not a stubborn mule.

“You’re right…”

Finally, Tan Han spoke up.

She dragged her tired body and walked towards me with faltering steps.

Her footsteps dragged out two long marks on the yellow sand.

“It’s good that you understand.”

A smile appeared on my lips.

It seemed that Tan Han was still quite obedient.

Then, I opened my eyes and saw that Tan Han had already walked in front of me.

“What’s wrong? You should be able to exit, right?”

I asked.

“Yes, exit, but there are two options for exiting. One is for both of us to exit, and the other… our battle isn’t over yet, we exit after the battle ends.”

“Oh… I see. What are you trying to say?”

I crossed one arm over my chest, and supported my chin with the other hand as I looked at Tan Han and asked.

“I want to say… can you let me win this one time?”

My expression instantly crumbled.

“It has nothing to do with faith, paths, or perseverance. It’s just pure competitiveness. If I don’t win once today, it would be a real regret.”

“Just a regret? Then you should understand that life is full of regrets. You have to get used to it.”

I continued to smile and said to Tan Han.

I didn’t expect Tan Han to care about such things.

Sure enough, everyone has a side they don’t easily show to others…

Me too.

So I gave Tan Han the final blow without hesitation.

Done, logging off.

I looked at the final victory of the battle and clicked the option to exit the battle room.

The next moment, I was teleported to the public area of the Dream State.

After stopping the high-intensity battle, I also felt a wave of fatigue wash over me.

Even though my body still felt very relaxed, the mental fatigue could not be ignored.

I subconsciously checked the time.

It was already afternoon, and I hadn’t even eaten lunch.

Was I becoming a net-addicted girl?

And at this moment in the public area, I found that many people had gathered here.

The previous spell effect had disappeared, and that Blood Clan member had probably run off.

And a figure appeared in the central resurrection area.

It was Tan Han, who had been directly resurrected in the public area outside because she exited the room.

The moment Tan Han appeared, I quickly went forward to support her.

Even though her body was still very energetic, Tan Han’s spirit was not necessarily so.

But I hadn’t been supporting Tan Han for long when I felt the weight in my hands grow heavier.

Tan Han just collapsed onto me like that.

“Hey… Tan Han, what’s wrong with you?”

I whispered, patting Tan Han’s small face, trying to wake her up, but Tan Han didn’t move.

And the commotion here quickly attracted the attention of many people.

After all, Tan Han naturally had the attribute of attracting attention.

This… this was really causing me trouble.

Could Tan Han have fainted in the Dream State?

I remember the help section said there was first aid and emergency exit after entering the Dream State, but I wasn’t familiar with it either?

But soon, I saw the warning that appeared on the light screen in front of Tan Han.

After a brief look, I helped Tan Han choose to force an exit.

The moment Tan Han’s body disappeared, it was as if all the gazes that had been looking over were focused on me.

This feeling was really not good…

Should I explain to them?

But I don’t need to explain to them, right?

And even if I did, what could I explain?

That Tan Han was knocked unconscious by me?

Or that Tan Han trained too hard, to the point of fainting?

Neither seemed appropriate, right?

So I chose to escape directly and logged off at the speed of light.

As the two protagonists of the incident left the Dream State, the slightly eerie silence just now was broken.

“Was that Tan Han just now?”

“I think so?”

“She fainted, what happened?”

“Maybe she over-trained.”

“That’s terrifying, fainting in the Dream State…”

And outside at this moment.

After I exited the Dream State, my mind was still a little dazed, but after a short period of adaptation, I directly pushed open the lid of the Dream State device cabin and went out.

My body hadn’t moved for a long time.

Even though I was lying in a very relaxed posture, I still felt a wave of discomfort when my feet touched the ground, and even my walking was a bit distorted.

“Huh? Little Han? You’re out?”

The senior sister in charge of maintaining the Dream State devices seemed to have noticed the movement here and walked over, but the Dream State device next to me, where Tan Han was, directly sounded an alarm.

“Huh? What’s wrong?”

Just as this senior sister was about to check on my situation, Tan Han’s Dream State device malfunctioned, and the lid of the device cabin automatically popped open.

“Go… go check on Tan Han, she fainted in the Dream State,” I said in a low voice.

“Ah? Fainted? Tan Han? She?”

At this moment, this senior sister’s mind was still a little confused.

What was going on?

“Senior sister, should we call the infirmary, or send Tan Han to the nearest hospital?”

“This… this is a major accident! Yes, yes, yes, send her to the infirmary!”

The senior sister quickly reacted, came to the device cabin, and carried Tan Han down from it.

“What do we do next? Call the teacher in the infirmary?”

I asked.

“Wait? How can we wait! This is Tan Han, we have to send her over quickly!”

The senior sister was very flustered at the moment, but she still took out her flying broom.

“By flying broom?”

I watched as the senior sister carried Tan Han on her back, then held the flying broom and was about to leave.

“Shouldn’t we secure her a bit? What if…”

“I don’t have any restraining spells either, Little Han, you… you’re just a newcomer, it’s unlikely you have the spellbook…”

“I’ll cast a restraint spell. I’ll go with you, and I’ll remove the restraint spell on you two after we arrive,” I said.

“Really? Quick, quick, quick, Little Han, you really have all kinds of spells, using restraint and all that.”

“Let’s try it first.”

I also shook my head and restrained Tan Han’s body to this senior sister to prevent her from falling off during the flight.

In the end, I still felt uneasy and cast an energy shield on them.

Thinking about it, the energy shield could also be used as a protective measure.

But now was not the time to think about these things.

I directly rode my broom and escorted Tan Han and the senior sister away.

And at this moment, a few busybodies deliberately exited the Dream State to see if something had really happened.

“Tan Han really fainted.”

“This is big news.”

“It’s a pity, the exchange competition might not even start tomorrow. Otherwise, Tan Han’s condition will definitely be poor tomorrow!”

“Come on, she just fainted. The Witch Academy has plenty of spells or potions to get Tan Han back to her best condition in the shortest amount of time.”

“It’s a pity that tomorrow seems to be just the announcement of the exchange competition rules, right?”

At this moment, I had also safely escorted Tan Han to the infirmary.

This was my first time here.

The last time was in the infirmary at the arena.

I didn’t expect the Witch Academy’s infirmary to be comparable to a large regular hospital…

It seemed to imply something extraordinary.

After all, if there was no demand, how could there be such a large infirmary?
