Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 186: Setbacks Even Tan Han Would Encounter

After coming out of Teacher Ji Niang’s office, I inexplicably gained a ”junior”.

Even now, I still found it a bit hard to believe; it all happened so inexplicably.

“Little Han, is this where you usually conduct your spellbook research?”

After entering Classroom 8401, Tan Han was also a little surprised, because this place looked like a very ordinary classroom, and it was even a bit messy.

“Sorry, it’s a bit messy because I didn’t expect anyone else to come here. I’ll clean it up right away.”

I said quickly.

The mess here was naturally because of my spell testing.

Of course, it was also messed up while I was looking for inspiration.

After all, it’s easy to trigger wonderful inspiration when letting oneself go, but it turned out that doing so only made the place messy.

“Let me help too.”

Seeing that I had already started tidying up, Tan Han also came over to help.

After all, she had nominally, or in fact, already joined this research group, so she naturally needed to do her part.

I naturally did not refuse Tan Han’s help.

With her, we could tidy things up faster.

However, while tidying up, Tan Han would also curiously ask about various things, as many of the items here were things she had never seen before.

With Tan Han’s joining, I quickly realized something.

In the past, all my research was to serve myself.

Researching spellbooks was to understand what they were, modding spellbooks was to temporarily acquire enough power to deal with the Newcomer Competition, and learning runes was to better understand what spellbooks were.

And Ji Niang would organize, summarize, and modify the things I researched, turning them into the output of this group.

But any research group has clear research topics, detailed stage planning, and division of labor, and so on.

It was fine before, but now that Tan Han had joined, many problems were exposed.

“By the way, Little Han, what is the current research topic of the research group? What stage has the main research project reached? My rash joining like this probably won’t disrupt your arrangements, right?”

“Hmm… I might have to disappoint you. None of the professional terms you mentioned exist, or rather, this research group was just a simple group for studying the Fireball spellbook from the very beginning. The first Fireball spellbook I obtained was provided during the initial experiment.”

“Really?”

Tan Han couldn’t quite believe it.

This was indeed very different from her expectations.

“Of course, it’s true. There’s no need for me to lie to you. We don’t have a very clear goal at the moment, or perhaps Teacher Ji Niang still thinks I haven’t reached the stage to start researching formal topics. In the end, we’re just newcomers who have only been in contact with the transcendent for a short time. At this stage, it’s all been my own exploration.”

“Self-exploration?”

Hearing this, Tan Han’s brows furrowed, but she couldn’t help but ask, “What did you rely on to explore?”

“Naturally, it’s Spirit Vision. As the minimum threshold for admission to Transcendent Academies, its importance plays an absolute role in the transcendent domain.”

At this moment, Ji Niang also walked over from the office, and upon hearing Tan Han’s question, she answered directly.

“Spirit Vision?”

Tan Han was a bit slow to react.

She naturally knew about the ability of Spirit Vision.

The threshold for registering for a Transcendent Academy was to awaken this ability.

She had awakened the ability of Spirit Vision when she was very young.

At that time, when she first awakened her Spirit Vision, she saw many things she had never seen before, but they vanished in a flash and she could never see them again.

However, that one time also left her with a heavy psychological shadow.

She told her parents about this, but they were happy and said she had awakened her Spirit Vision.

And they carefully explained the level division of Spirit Vision to her, and that time, for the first time, they explained the power of the transcendent to her.

From then on, she became fascinated with that kind of power that surpassed common sense, but she couldn’t obtain that power until she heard that she could attend a Transcendent Academy when she grew up, where she could obtain transcendent power.

Plus, her grandmother was an Ascetic who believed in the Holy Light, so she grew up in such a family and finally applied to the Holy Angel Academy with her grandmother’s expectations.

But fate had other plans.

After a series of twists and turns, she came to the Witch Academy.

And now she was standing here again.

“Yes, Spirit Vision is the window to the transcendent, a shortcut to reaching the transcendent. You can use this ability to touch the truth of the transcendent.”

“So… the so-called research on spellbooks is actually borrowing the power of Spirit Vision to observe the transcendent world?”

“I don’t deny this statement. Any kind of thought and idea can become a possibility for exploring the transcendent. Looking at you, you must have often ignored the ability of Spirit Vision, right?”

“Yes, it left me with a considerable psychological shadow when I was very young, and it’s still the same even now. Is that kind of world the real transcendent world?”

“That is just a corner of the transcendent. It’s not a good habit to be afraid to move forward after just a glimpse of a part. Since you’ve just joined, let’s start with the most basic practice. Do you have a basic spellbook? Any one will do, Fireball or others are fine.”

As Ji Niang spoke, she opened the Earth Vein Operating System, just like when she was teaching me.

I silently did my own things on the side and finally tidied up this place.

I even used a Cleaning Spell to clean it all over, taking this opportunity to do a big clean-up.

Soon, some time passed.

“You’ve already tried for the third time. Are you sure you still can’t see it?”

Ji Niang asked from the side.

After all, she had only taught elective-type courses in the past.

Her few experiences of individual teaching were with the worry-free Little Han on the side.

Now that she was teaching a real study god, she realized that there was no such thing as a study god, only a teacher who worked hard.

“I can’t see it clearly. Even if I actively use Spirit Vision, I can only barely see that there seems to be something inside.”

“To this extent… from the perspective of not having reached the transcendent level, your Spirit Vision is probably at the second stage, Imaging, now? When did that happen?”

“Probably around the time of the college entrance examination. At that time, I could clearly feel that my Spirit Vision seemed to have some slight changes. It should have been at that time.”

Tan Han recalled and said.

“Reached the second stage right after enrolling?”

Ji Niang said in a low voice.

This progress was undoubtedly very fast, and there were even signs of human intervention.

Many students at the Witch Academy might only touch the threshold of the second stage of Spirit Vision by the time they graduate.

After all, everyone’s situation is different, and it’s impossible to have uniform teaching.

The main space for Spirit Vision to be utilized is after becoming transcendent.

So it wasn’t that the academy was unwilling to teach students about spellbooks, but that they couldn’t.

But even though Tan Han was so fast, and it was even possible that the college entrance examination ritual had promoted this result, she was still too far from this requirement.

But when she recalled her conversation with Lina before, she came to terms with it.

Tan Han had her own path to walk, a path that led directly to the transcendent.

But this process was undoubtedly boring.

Lina took this opportunity to give Tan Han her own choice.

Although it seemed like she was giving her freedom, Lina naturally understood the stakes.

It was like cultivating an ”interest” for Tan Han, and this interest was chosen by Tan Han herself.

It could also be considered as letting Tan Han preview the path after becoming transcendent in advance, which was also beneficial for Tan Han’s future development.

Ji Niang was now equivalent to accompanying the young lady to study, as long as she had fun, but she couldn’t delay the main business.

The script was supposed to develop like this, until more Seeds of Destiny appeared, and the script changed.

Or perhaps, everything developing like this was also the interference of the script, taking this variable from the Main World into account, that Innate Spirit Visionary.

“If you can’t see it, then don’t force it. This is not something that can be achieved overnight. Perhaps we should look at it from the spellbook model.”

Ji Niang didn’t mention anything about not being able to do it, but directly changed the subject and went to the database on the side to select a spellbook model.

“This model is so different from the one Little Han made.”

Tan Han looked at the model presented, and reached out to check it, but her mind was full of the dense model she had seen at the arena before.

As the saying goes, there is a gap only when there is a comparison.

She felt that what she was looking at now was as simple as a primary school textbook, but the reality was that she couldn’t even understand what such a model meant.

“Simplify the complex, get straight to the essence. The essence of a spellbook is to cast a spell. This model clearly shows the various internal structures of a spell.”

“So if we don’t use a spellbook, can we also directly cast a spell using this structure?”

Tan Han asked.

“Good question. Indeed, you can.”

“Then why don’t we learn this? And use spellbooks instead?”

“Want to know why?”

“Yes.”

“Hehe, because of the applicable choice. A spellbook is a higher form of expression than a spell. Perhaps you don’t understand the reason for this yet, but no one in this world is a fool. Some things can only be understood for their good intentions when you reach a certain level.”

“So that’s a no on the explanation?”

Tan Han’s words hit the core of the issue, exposing the fact that Ji Niang didn’t want to explain right now.

“Yes. Later, go find your teacher and get a high-level permission for the library. A large part of the materials you’ll need to look up in the future may not be open to ordinary students. Or you can leech off of Little Han, but it’s more convenient to have your own, isn’t it?”

Ji Niang admitted directly, but quickly changed the subject again, telling Tan Han to go trouble Lina.

After all, she had reason to suspect that Lina had thrown this trouble to her precisely because she thought Tan Han asked too many questions and was too direct.

“Okay, I’ll go find her. Um, this spellbook model.”

Tan Han continued to point at it and ask.

“Just focus on understanding the structure of this spellbook today. Besides, you might not even get the hang of it today. If you don’t understand something, look it up. You can use Little Han’s permission for now. If you don’t understand, you can ask Little Han. If neither of you understands, come and ask me. My office is right next door.”

“Okay.”

Tan Han’s gaze was fixed on Ji Niang.

Although her eyes were still full of doubt, she still accepted the current situation.

And I on the side was also marveling at Tan Han’s terror; even Teacher Ji Niang had to yield to her.

When Ji Niang was about to leave, her gaze once again turned to me, but she was mainly looking at the strand of destiny on my body, which had increased a bit more.

After confirming this, she didn’t bother with anything else.

At this time, I was on another Earth Vein Operating System trying to research other spells, and I was also activating the ”Flexible Learning and Application Spell” and reading the basic theory of illusion magic.

That’s right, the spellbook I was going to study this time was the Illusory Clone.

This spell was really useful, and it was a gift from Big Sis Bai.

So I should make full use of it and not mess up this spellbook.

Now I was looking at the theoretical knowledge related to illusion magic, which would help me understand the essence of the internal structure of this spellbook.

“Little Han.”

At this moment, Tan Han suddenly called out to me from the side.

“What’s wrong? Did you run into a problem?”

I raised my head and looked at Tan Han curiously.

Although I expected her to encounter difficulties, and that the road of research would be fraught with them, I didn’t expect Tan Han to call me as soon as Teacher Ji Niang left.

“No, I was just curious about something.”

Tan Han was no longer looking at me at this moment, but was holding the unfolded spellbook that had been placed on the Earth Vein Operating System with both hands.

She seemed to be observing very carefully, but the confusion in her eyes was still lingering.

“What is it?”

“I can’t see clearly… what that is.”

Tan Han raised her confused eyes to look at me, just like a beginner seeking knowledge.

“I really want to know how you did it, to analyze a spellbook so deeply, so effortlessly. But I just feel that there is nothing in front of me. I magnify the spellbook with my vision, no matter how much I magnify it, even to the point of seeing the microscopic particles passing through the spellbook, but I still don’t know where the internal structure of the spellbook is, or what it is. It’s as if I’m separated from it by two worlds.”

“Um…”

I subconsciously made a sound, not knowing what to say.

I felt the atmosphere at this moment was so awkward.

“My mental power too. I only feel that what my mental power perceives is a sphere, a spellbook, and inside it is a chaos. Little Han, did you also see it through Spirit Vision?”

“Yes.”

After I nodded, I turned my back again.

“Then may I be so bold as to ask what your current Spirit Vision level is?”

“My Spirit Vision…”

I sighed at this moment.

Tan Han finally asked this question.

It wasn’t that I couldn’t say it.

After all, being an Innate Spirit Visionary was no big deal.

Besides, I wasn’t the first case of this situation, I was just a special case.

I was afraid that saying it would hurt Tan Han.

And I didn’t think it was something worth showing off in front of others.

It was enough to be secretly happy about this kind of thing alone.

What was the use of showing off to others?

So what if others asked unintentionally?

“Is there something not quite right…”

Just as Tan Han was about to give up when she saw I wasn’t answering, my phone rang.

“Oh, sorry, someone is contacting me, I’ll go out for a moment.”

At this moment, I picked up my phone as if it were a savior.

After apologizing, I walked out.

Only after I got outside did I see that the person calling was actually Big Sis Bai!

“Hello Big Sis Bai, why are you contacting me so early? Is something the matter?”

I asked expectantly.

After all, Big Sis Bai wouldn’t usually contact me on purpose unless there was something to say.

I hoped it wasn’t any bad news.

“Yes, Little Han, where are you? I’m knocking on the door of your villa, your roommate said you weren’t there, and you weren’t at the Bakery Club either.”

“Oh, I’m at the experimental building. Is something wrong?”

I asked curiously, but then quickly reacted, “Wait! Big Sis Bai, you went to my villa!”

“Yes, I thought you would be there, since it’s a rare free time. And your roommates are also very nice.”

“Is… is that so? Haha, um, Big Sis Bai, what did you contact me for? If there’s something, you can come find me at 8401.”

“There is indeed something, but since you’ve already given me the address, let’s save this surprise for when we meet.”

“Eh? Just tell me now.”

“Wait for me, I’ll be there right away. Just wait patiently.”

“Hello? Big Sis Bai! Don’t hang up!”

I looked at the phone with the ended call, feeling a bit discouraged.

But at this moment, I also started to look forward to what kind of surprise Big Sis Bai was talking about.

But as long as it wasn’t any bad news, it would be fine.
