Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 2604: Chapter 2613: Beaten So Badly Even His Mom Wouldn’t Recognize Him

Her life has already been ruined, and the ones who ruined it, aside from the human traffickers who initially abducted her, are the fundamental reasons—poverty, ignorance, and naivety!

Because of poverty, people here can’t afford to marry a wife and can only rely on saving money to buy women from human traffickers.

Due to ignorance and naivety, they don’t understand the law, treating living people as commodities, firmly believing that someone they bought with money is their property, to treat as they please. Even though the heroine repeatedly tells them that their actions violate the law, they steadfastly believe they are not wrong.

The heroine wants to change the poverty, ignorance, and naivety of these people, so she chooses to stay in the deep mountains as a teacher. While imparting knowledge to the children, she longs to change the fate of these children to change the fate of the entire region, rescuing those girls who might suffer the same fate as her.

Olivia Lewis finished reading the whole script, pondering for a long time.

After putting down the script, she relaxed significantly and wasn’t squirming just because August Oliver was sitting across from her, returned the script, and said, ”This script is good, and the heroine is very challenging. But I think I probably can’t take it.”

August Oliver frowned slightly, resting his hands on the table and not retrieving the script, but instead asked her, ”Why?”

He’s vetted this script thoroughly; it’s bound to win an award and stir up public discussion, which would be perfect for Olivia Lewis, who is eager to escape negative news.

”Because I can’t play the heroine in it. If it were me, I definitely wouldn’t make the same choice as the heroine.” Olivia analyzed for him, ”First of all, if I were abducted, I would resist. If I couldn’t escape, I would go down with him. I couldn’t do what the heroine does—resiliently believing in the law, believing in the police, persistently waiting for rescue. Secondly, when the police come to the village to gather evidence, I wouldn’t help hide the fact that I was kidnapped just because I’ve developed feelings for this man. In my eyes, wrong is wrong. No matter how good he treats me later, it doesn’t change his original cruelty and selfishness. Therefore, I can’t be the heroine. I also can’t portray that level of mindset.”

If it were her, it would be surprising if she didn’t kill the traffickers and the person who harmed her.

She’s not the Virgin Mary; is the ignorance in the mountains her fault? Why should she have to pay for the ignorance of this group of people?

Moreover, the man who bought the heroine listened to her talk about so much legal knowledge, he actually already understood that what he did was wrong. It was illegal, a crime, yet he still chose not to let the heroine go.

Including the time when the police came once, the villagers all conspired to hide. Did they not understand the law? That man’s tearful repentance to the heroine, repeatedly claiming he didn’t know better at the time—isn’t it just because the police came, found him, and he feared going to jail.

These people obviously understand the law, yet they cloak their actions with poverty and backwardness, acting with a ”I’m poor, I’m justified” attitude, committing acts worse than beasts.

Her suggestion for these people is total humane annihilation, rather than trying to reform them.

People can be reformed, because people have emotions. But beasts can’t, because in their eyes, there’s only their own interest.

Olivia shrugged lightly, speaking with ease and frankness, ”I know once this film is made, the heroine will surely win an award, but I don’t want to shoot it. I need to be responsible for the audience’s worldviews and intelligence. I don’t want to shoot films that peddle one thing under the guise of another, spreading incorrect worldviews.”

Can crying a few times and admitting guilt solve mistakes? Ha, watch her jump up and slap them so hard even their mom wouldn’t recognize them!
