Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1440: Chapter 1440: Baron Lawrence, I’m Back Chapter 1440: Chapter 1440: Baron Lawrence, I’m Back Enna Clark had no time to check her phone, so she was unaware of the news on the internet.

After leaving the luxury store with the shirt she bought for Baron Lawrence, she glanced at the time and hurriedly chose a good-quality hand warmer at the mall. Then she hailed a taxi on the roadside and got into the car.

She didn’t notice that a low-key Hyundai had been parked at the corner outside the mall, waiting for her to get into the taxi before the driver of the Hyundai started the car.

He made a call, “Lord, Ms. Clark has left the city center. She got into a taxi, probably heading back to the vacation resort.”

“I know.”

The call ended with a click, abrupt and decisive, a clear sign of a bad mood.

Scott Harris, worried, hung up the phone, wondering if he had done anything wrong.

Lord Baron was obviously angry about Ms. Clark lying to him. He still faithfully tracked Ms. Clark and reported her whereabouts, which would only infuriate the Lord Baron even more.

But he couldn’t defy Lord Baron’s orders.

Scott Harris was greatly troubled by the thought of them arguing over this. He particularly wished Bobby were at the resort now.

With the Young Master around, so clever as he was, he would surely find a way to defuse the crisis.

Just Ms. Clark and the Lord Baron alone, with his temper and the fact that he didn’t remember Ms. Clark anymore, the consequences were too dreadful to imagine.

Scott Harris clutched his phone tightly, hesitating whether to tip off Enna Clark in advance so she could be mentally prepared.

Yet as a housekeeper and subordinate, his principles kept him from mustering the courage to do so.

…

While he agonized over the decision, Enna Clark remained blissfully unaware. She had no idea that Baron Lawrence had seen through her lie, and she was even more oblivious to the fact that Scott Harris had been tracking her all along.

The taxi stopped at the entrance to the vacation resort, and after expressing her thanks and paying the fare, she got out. Carrying her things, she walked toward the villa.

The villa was inside the resort, only a few minutes’ walk away.

“I’m back,” she said with a smile as she entered.

No one in the living room responded to her.

She found it odd and walked further in.

The next second, Enna Clark’s smile began to fade.

Because the handsome man was sitting on the sofa with dark eyes, he wasn’t on a video call or looking at documents. It was unclear what he was thinking, but by his expression, it wasn’t good. Especially when he looked at her, Enna Clark felt as if there were two flames burning in his eyes.

She thought she had returned quite early; it wasn’t even dark yet, so she couldn’t be considered late. Before she went out, she had specially asked for his permission to leave, and could not think of anything that would upset him, so she relaxed, assuming someone had annoyed him at work.

She walked in, set down her bag, and greeted him again with a beaming smile, “Baron Lawrence, I’m back.”

“I’m not blind, I can see!”

The air was full of gunpowder!

Enna Clark blinked, failing to grasp where this aggressiveness was coming from. Her attention quickly shifted to something else; she picked up the paper bag, approached the sofa, and, seeming unfazed by the oppressive atmosphere, extended her hand to the handsome man, “Here, this is for you. Do you want to try it on to see if it fits? If it doesn’t, their store can alter it.”

Designers of custom-made clothes can always make alterations based on the customer’s measurements as part of their after-sales service.

Otherwise, spending so much money on ill-fitting clothes couldn’t just be accepted.
